I needed a DVD/VCR combo. This one looked good and was the right price for me. The DVD player worked well. The VCR was a different story.
The picture quality was terrible. Tapes that played well in a old VCR, looked awful from this one. I recorded something from my TiVo and was barely able to watch it!
After using the DVD player about 10 times over 6 months...the door will no longer open.
So, if you are looking for a disposable piece of equipment...this one is for you!!!

Mine has worked FLAWLESSLY for 2 years now.

Lately, the dvd player has been acting up. Maybe it's time for a replacement. Been looking for the same model.

I bought this item to use in my class room as few QUALITY videos are available for math, and of those available, I don't always have the option of the preferred DVD. It is small and easily connected. The price was within my budget and ease of operation a must. I am very pleased with this product.

I would never buy another Samsung product again after this experience. The product arrived with only the DVD part working, and even that did not provide any better images than the basic DVD player on my computer. The unit also seemed very flimsy and reluctant to respond to the remote control. I sent it in to Samsung for service - they assured me that it would take only one week door to door, since I live close to the service center. Two weeks later, I had heard nothing from them. I called, waited some time on hold, and discovered that they had realized they couldn't fix it, then done nothing about getting me a replacement unit. The customer service rep admitted that this was their fault, and said a replacement unit would be sent by expedited delivery, to arrive by the end of the following week at the latest. Still no sign of it at that point, so I called and waited on hold again. After several calls, they finally shipped it out - without the expedited delivery. I haven't received the new unit yet (and am wondering if I really will), so I don't know if it will work any better than the original one.

i picked this up with the specific purpose of playing jpeg, mp3 CD's and DVD's that I burned. I couldn't get it to work - so I finally read the instruction manual and there is NO mention that it does anything but the standard commerical audio CD and movie DVD.

On page 4, it states clearly that it ONLY plays audio CD's (no mp3 or jpeg). The rest of the page is a warning that it's got copyright protection, over and over.

In all honesty, I have not been to the website to see if there's a firware update, etc. that would alter this and I haven't done any searches to see if there's something available that would alter this - yet.

I've had no problems using the DVD or Vhs as a normal DVD/VHS player and Vhs recorder. It just doesn't do anything else and I bought it (at the time, also paying more) because I wanted the other features.
