Product Description
Samsung's DVD-VR325 is a VHS-DVD multi-recording device that lets consumers record between VHS tapes and DVD discs with total ease. With both formats supported in the same machine, consumers can easily convert treasured VHS tapes to DVDs at the touch of a button, with no special wiring required. Users also can record directly from television to either format. But the DVD-VR325 isn't just a recording powerhouse, it's also a top-flight DVD and VHS player in its own right. The player offers High- Definition conversion from both DVD and VHS playback and HDMI out and DVI-in jacks. The device's sleek and clean front panel design ensures it will look at home in all home theater settings.
Amazon.com Product Description
Enjoy the latest DVD movies as well as your VHS library with the Samsung DVD-VR325 DVD player/recorder with integrated VCR, which also enables you to record your favorite TV programming and home movies to DVD disc. Additionally, this unit uses a lossless HDMI connection to upconvert your DVD and VHS playback to high definition 720p/768p/1080i video formats for your HD-compatible television. The DVD-VR325 records onto DVD-R/RW discs as well as reusable DVD-RAM media. You can record up to about 16 hours with a double side 9.4 GB DVD-RAM disc, and up to about 8 hours with a 4.7 GB DVD-RAM, DVD-RW or DVD-R disc, depending on the recording mode. In addition to DVD-Video, this unit plays DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD-RAM, CD audio, CD-R/RW discs, as well as MP3 and JPEG CDs.
With the DV input (also known as Firewire, i.Link, or IEEE 1394), you can transfer and record video clips directly from your digital video camcorder directly onto DVD discs. With Auto Chaptering, chapters are created when you record your favorite TV show or video clips from a cammcorder onto a DVD disc. The Auto Fit Recording function automatically detects the remaining disc space and sets up the best recording mode. For instance, if you record a 90 minute length program on a single sided disc, the recorder sets the recording mode from XP to EP.
An HDMI compatible input with HDCP (High Definition Content Protection) offers an uncompressed solution to the transmission and display of high definition video and audio content. Other connection options include:
- Composite AV In/Out: 2 in (1 front)/1 out
- S-Video In/Out: 1 in/1 out
- Component video (YPbPr) In/Out: 1 in/1 out
- HDMI: 1
- Firewire: 1
- RF In/Out: 1 in/1 out
- Analog audio In/Out: 2 in/2 out
- Digital coaxial audio In/Out: 0 in/1 out
- Digital optical audio In/Out: 0 in/1 out
What's in the Box
DVD (player/recorder)/VCR combo, remote control (with batteries), AV cable, HDMI cable, RF cable, printed operating instructions
Customer Reviews:
Best one yet.......2007-05-02
I've had several DVD recorders that I've used to transfer VHS to DVD. This is the easiest one yet and it has lasted more than 6 months. The picture quality is very good and I can record DVDs from TV shows. The other DVD recorders I've had didn't last 6 months and I never overused or abused them. I bought this one with a warranty and, of course, I probably won't use it! The reviews either seem very good or bad. Maybe it's just hit or miss if you are lucky enough to get one of the good ones!?!I'm thinking about buying a second one.
Junk.......2007-04-12
First it stopped recording DVDs, then it stopped recognizing DVDs it had recorded. Now it doesn't recognize any DVDs. I've had it for about 10 months.
Piece of Junk - Don't buy Samsung DVD Recorders.......2007-03-19
Basically a $300 piece of junk. DV input does not work and locks up the machine. Firmware update did nothing. Many DVD movies that play just fine on other players hang and get stuck. After about 6 months of use the DVD recorder burns nothing but coasters. The is a very poor design. Samsung should be offerring free replacement/repair. A similar experience with a Toshiba model resulted in Toshiba repairing the unit for free even when out of warranty. I'll go back to buying Toshiba from now on. Pass on Samsung products unless you like to waste money.
Great Recorder.......2007-01-11
I could not afford this beauty new. I got it for a song refurbished. It does everything I wanted it to do. Great DVD from my old VHS tapes and great DVDs from movies on TV. I use it like we used to use VHS and have had no problems. I have had it a month and have made 30 to 40 DVDs so far. Way worth the $100.00 I paid. I probably will not use all the features this recorder offers but it works just fine for my needs.
Good deal?.......2006-10-08
After trouble with several DVD players, I decided to invest in this higher cost unit. The option to record from VHS tapes held a big appeal. The unit worked very well for 10 months. Then, the DVD would not open. I don't know why DVD units tend to do that, but I have had a couple that did the same thing. With the cost of this unit, I had hoped to avoid problems. So much for getting what you pay for. Does anyone know why DVD's stop opening or how to fix the problem? Thank you.
