Amazon.com Product Description
GoVideo's DVR4300 is a step into the future with its compact size and dual-deck DVD and VCR convenience. A sleek design with a reflective front panel makes this a gorgeous addition to any home entertainment system, and its features will make it the showpiece. This versatile deck plays DVDs, music CDs, MP3s on CD-R and CD-RW, and VHS tapes. You can watch a DVD while recording a television program, and with one touch record non copy-protected DVDs (home movies, say) to VHS tape.
As a DVD player, the DVR4300 offers Dolby Digital and DTS digital outputs for easy connection to a compatible surround receiver for immersive, 5.1-channel surround sound. Composite-video, S-video, and component-video outputs provide high video quality and complete system flexibility. If you're not set up for surround sound, the unit's Virtual 3D Surround Sound provides lifelike acoustics through an existing pair of speakers--even TV speakers. The hi-fi stereo VCR's Complete Program Record automatically adjusts tape speed to ensure the recording of a complete program, no matter what tape is used. The VCR's four-head design ensures smooth slow-motion play (forward and reverse) and clear still-frame images. Nineteen-micron heads deliver the clearest possible picture when recording or playing back in EP (extended-play) mode.
In the connections department, there are two sets of stereo analog-audio inputs (front and rear), two accompanying composite-video inputs, and one RF coaxial video input (for use with a cable box, laserdisc player, or an additional, older VCR). A convenient child lock effectively toddler-proofs the front panel, and an intuitive remote control operates both DVD and VCR.

No customer service, period.......2007-01-12
One month ago I would have given this machine 5 stars; it really was a nice player, and even having been owned by two previous owners, worked without any glitches, was easy to hook up, and met our generally basic needs. I have to admit, I never tried the "copy" function, but only used it for playback of factory DVDs and VHS tapes. However, several weeks ago, without any explanation or changes on the user's end, the VCR just stopped working; oddly, there was sound, loud and clear, but no image. This happened with all the tapes we tried (which worked just fine in another VCR) and we even tried cleaning the heads, changing out the RCA cables, etc. to no avail. When I contacted GoVideo via their website, their response was plain and simple:
"GoVideo does not provide technical support or customer service for over a year now"
What a company!
DVD portion is adequate, VCR portion is lousy at best........2004-12-23
This applies to the DVD4400. The DVD works more or less as well as other DVD players I have:nothing to brag or complain about, other than the remote control buttons (used to fast forward or rewind) are poorly designed. More often than not you will find yourself skipping forward to the next index point instead of speeding up the DVD. The maximum advance is also slower than other DVDs I've owned. The VCR part, on the other hand, is terrible. It will take a new tape and record (SP or SLP doesn't make a difference)in such a lousy fashion that while the audio is barely discernible(wobbly and glitchy, like listening to a tape playing on a portable walkman with a dying battery), there is no watchable video. It's all lines and garbled view, like watching a scrambled channel, I suppose. The "fast play" feature is also significantly slower than all other VCRs I've owned, approximately 10X at best (as opposed to up to 30X). The one good point about the VCR is that it can rewind the tape to the start quite fast (about a minute or so.) The picture quality is average. I bought it new, so there's no prior owner who could have ruined it. I also used it plugged in with gold-tipped cables, so that's not the problem either. I will NOT be buying future products from the GO people if the rest of their line is as crappy as this product. Fill in your own joke about how the company should have been called "GO AWAY" or "GO ELSEWHERE"...
Go Video Products.......2004-06-28
My GoVideo product was a christmas gift and I am glad that I spent no money of my own to purchase it. It just long enough not to be covered by the warranty. Buyer Beware!
LOVE IT.......2003-10-29
I'm a girl and don't understand anything techinical. I bought this unit primarily because it was the first combo unit I had seen and I had enough money on my J.C. Penney card to cover the then cost of $250.00 plus tax and shipping. My husband and I have now had this unit over a year and it has been wonderful. No noise from the machine as other reviewers have stated, the picture quality is great and so easy to use even I can handle it. I was wary of the Go Video name, as we had never heard of the company before, but we would not hestitate to buy from them again. Good quality unit in my opinion.
I'm getting a new one!.......2003-10-16
This product has had problems from the start...when the DVD plays, it makes a VERY loud whirring sound. When I tried to get it fixed under the warranty, they claimed there was no problem at all, and refused to allow me to return it. Now ten months later the whirring sound is so loud, you can't even hear some of the dialog. We're buying a new one, definitely a different model, and giving this trash away.

Amazon.com Product Description
GoVideo's DVR4200 brings the convenience of VHS recording with the simplicity and quality of DVD, from front-panel AV inputs to high-resolution component-video outputs and even MP3-CD playback. The DVR4200 allows you to conveniently record TV programs while watching a DVD or listening to a CD. If it's the DVD you want to record, the unit offers one-touch copy. The hi-fi VCR's four-head design gives the player superior slow motion and stop-action control, while Complete Program Record actually adjusts the VCR's speed to make sure it records programmed recordings in their entirety. Its component-video output is ideal for use with the latest high-resolution televisions, and standard composite-video and S-video outputs work with most older TVs.
The DVR4200 is compatible with standard CDs, audio CD-Rs and CD-RWs, and discs encoded with MP3 audio files. Using its coaxial digital-audio output, Dolby Digital 5.1-channel signals are rerouted to a Dolby-decoding AV receiver to enjoy stunning surround sound from movies. When used with a compatible receiver and a six-channel speaker system (left, center, right, left/right surround, and subwoofer), the player puts you in the middle of the action. The unit's Virtual 3D surround sound can also simulate surround effects through an existing pair of speakers.
The DVD player offers standard composite-video outputs (two), S-video (one), and premium component-video outputs (one set, three RCA jacks). The VCR section offers two sets of composite-video inputs, one composite-video output, and one RF (cable-type) input and output. For audio, two sets of stereo, analog-audio RCA outputs are for the DVD player (one of which doubles as a VCR output), while the VCR accepts two stereo analog-audio inputs. A coaxial digital-audio output routes DVD audio signals to an AV receiver. A convenient child lock protects the front panel from fingers, toast, and other nonmedia, while the included remote control operates both the DVD and VCR features. Auto clock set and channel search simplify VCR setup (no more flashing 12:00!). The DVR4200 comes with two AAA batteries, a user's manual, and a stereo analog-audio interconnect.
Product Description
The GoVideo DVR4200 has complete versatility to play DVDs, music CDs, MP3s on CD-R and CD-RW, as well as VHS tapes. Users can even watch a DVD while recording a TV program! The DVR4200 enables Dolby Digital output for playback of Dolby-encoded DVDs, and has component, S-video, composite and RF video outputs for high connection flexibility and optimum performance. The DVR4200 incorporates SONICblue's patented dual-deck technologies, creating a versatile, high-quality and affordable home theater solution.
Customer Reviews:
Do NOT buy a Go Video.......2007-06-05
At first I thought I had a winner, but guess what happened; I copied about 150 DVDs (legally). They played beautifully when I first made them. I put them in cases, set them in a room out of the sun, happy that I had a great DVD library. My mistake, I just tried to play one and it rejected the CD. So, I tried several more. None of the DVDs I made work. It isn't the machine, it plays professional DVDs, but not all of them. Sometimes I have to go to my other DVD in another room and play the DVD there.
I have no idea what the problem is, but it may be cheap materials used to make the recording, and these materials fade quickly.
The people at go video make it almost impossible to talk to them, and there is NO customer support, at all. Don't think those of us who are trying to warn you just got a "lemon". That isn't the case. Purchasing a Go Video is a huge mistake. Don't do it.
Best One Yet.......2005-04-23
This vcr/dvd player is the only one that has lasted this long. I have 4 boys under 10 and they are a little rough on things. Ours finally died when three dvd's were put in at once. This is after several "repairs" by mom. It has been great and put up with loads of abuse. We tried two other players and neither would work with our television. So we are going to order this same exact one. Why mess with what works! I am just really impressed with this player. Also, when our remote was lost, we contacted the company to get a new one and they were very promt in getting back to us on how to re-order it. I would definatly recomend this player. It's easy to set up and work, works with older t.v.'s, put's up with ton's of abuse and can be easily connected to a sound system.
Junk.......2005-01-26
My wife bought this for me a couple of years ago. The first one failed as a DVD player basically out of the box and the store replaced it. The 2nd unit took somewhat longer to fail. Shipped it off to Go-Video and they "repaired" it. It worked for a brief period before it quit. I gave up and quit even trying to use it as anything more than a VCR.
GoVideo DVD/VCR player.......2003-12-06
We have had this player for a year now, and are very satisfied with it's performance. it's is VERY easy to use and we especially like the "lock" feature to keep the kids from messing with it.
I'd buy another one as a gift.
No go video.......2003-08-28
I just recently bought this DVD/VCR player. It was very easy to set up and play, but right from the get-go I noticed that the dvd picture looked a bit stretched(elongated). I'm a huge fan of widescreen dvds and didn't like the look of the picture. The reason I noticed it was that I also have a SONY dvd player and compared the pictures. The bars of the GV player are thinner than the bars of the SONY showing that the picture is indeed elongated. The picture and people just looked more natural with the SONY player, but those without comparison might not notice the difference. It depends on what you are used to.
Also another thing I REALLY, REALLY don't like about the machine is the remote control. The search and skip button are the exact same button!! So if I want to fast forward/scan a little bit I accidentally skip to the next scene instead. It's very frustrating.
And for those that are planning to record DVDs to VHS, don't hold your breath. You can only record DVDs that don't have Macrovision(some type of anti-recording protection) and most original DVDs will have it. I've also tried a CD-R and it didn't recognize it even though GV says it will play CD-Rs.
I have no complaints about the VCR. It works great.
Basically, you get what you pay for. This is a low price machine and you can't expect it to be exceptional. If you just want to watch a movie and don't care about the look or anything else and want to save space, go ahead and buy it. Otherwise, I would recommend just buying separate players.
p.s. I am not endorsing the SONY player. DO NOT buy SONY DVD players. They have different sets of problems all their own plus a court case against them. Check the web for those reviews
if you don't believe me. Just don't do it.

Customer Reviews:
Great for awhile, then POOF!.......2007-03-12
Well, I am another victim of Go Video. I have (had?) this model for just over a year. I really liked it, played and recorded well. Used to view DVDs often, and record on occasion. Was in the process of recording a second 2 hour movie on the same day when the unit stopped recording. Tried restarting, would not record or play any DVD. From other reviews, looks like my laser head has burned out. The unit still plays music CDs and the VCR works, so it's just "mostly dead".
Will never buy GoVideo again........2007-01-08
I had the Model 3845 about one year before it started refusing to read DVDs. Several sources said that the laser head burns out if you use it for more than 2-3 hours straight and that's what happened to mine. I understand it is a common problem (look at the number of dead units being sold on eBay). Phone support was discontinued when I tried to call and they never answer e-mails. A $250. boat anchor as even the VCR would not work properly anymore. And failure to respond to a customer is inexcusable.
Short Lived!.......2006-10-13
I have owned the VR3845 for about 5 months, but have only used it sparingly. It has been used to watch no more than a dozen commercial DVDs and it was used to copy two VCR tapes. The unit will no longer read a disk. I did get it to read one after trying many different DVD disks, but all it did was go to the FBI Warning screen and freeze.
Calling their 1-800 number did not work because they said it was out of operation and to use their web site. The Service center locator on their site does not work. I think they are out of business. Anyway, you can see I am not pleased at all.
Warning!.......2006-02-03
If you record a program over 2 hours long there is a high probability that the laser lense will overheat and burn out. 90 day warranty only. Expensive to have fixed. OK for short recordings.

The Absolute Worst.......2007-05-30
You will regret buying any product with the govideo brand. i have owned two different models of the govideo vcr-dvd combo players and both had fatal vcr head failures within a hours of use. i bought these new, not refurbished from fry's electonics. they would be better known as NO-GOVIDEO.
No Support by Go Video.......2007-01-07
I cannot even get through the Setup mode on the new unit. Their "Customer Service" number was disconnected and my e-mail bounced back. Calling the company's headquarter, the recorded voice told me to leave a message, but I always get terminated after that. Don't buy from this company!
DO NOT BUY!!.......2006-12-15
I loved it to for about 4 months and then it wont play any dvd's unknown disc it says!! I paid full price for mine. Called customer service they told me to buy a disc cleaner before they would help me, bought one and it didn't help. Called back and they had disconnected the number!! VERY BAD COMPANY!!! NEVER BUY FROM GO VIDEO!!!!
It Suuuuuuucks- 3845 unit .......2006-05-26
Tried to copy 1 tape to DVD after many (40+/-) played DVD's, it hung up, now won't play ANY dvd or CD! Unknown Disc! GoVideo computer (Customer support) hung up on me 3 times. Nothing in manual about "Unknown Disc" at all. Strange we ALL have the same problem and GoVideo has NOTHING on it any where! Methinks something stinks here! (But my air purifier is on and it's obviously covering it up!)
Bad product.......2006-05-18
At first I could burn DVDs OK. Then I started losing one in 5 (freeze on recording file, on finalization, etc.). Then 1 in 3. then it stopped recognizing DVDs altogether -- blank DVDs, recorded DVDs, commercial DVDs, whatever. Only CD and VCR functions still work. Since I bought it to transfer VHS to DVD, it's useless to me. GoVideo Customer Service strung me along just long enough for the warranty to expire. BAD PRODUCT; BAD COMPANY.

Amazon.com Product Description
Easy to set up and even easier to operate, the GoVideo DV2150 combines a full-featured progressive scan DVD player to handle your movies and music--including MP3 files stored on CD-R/RW--with a four-head hi-fi stereo VCR to play your existing videocassettes and record new programs. The functional blend makes the DV2150 a space-saving wonder, as it offers the footprint of a single unit while ensuring high-quality playback for DVD, DVD-RW, DVD+R/RW, CD, CD-R/RW, and VHS formats.
Whether your living room is currently home to an HDTV or you're merely thinking of "someday," the DV2150 stands ready to deliver the full potential of your commercial DVDs. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts. Even without an HD-ready set, users can set the component-video outputs to support interlaced video, which helps minimize line scan and digital artifacts on compatible TVs.
The model's four-head VCR, meanwhile, delivers smooth slow-motion play (forward and reverse) and clear still-frame images, while the hi-fi sound records and plays back stereo audio tracks. If you route the stereo output to an AV receiver, you can even enjoy four-channel (left, center, right, and monaural surround) Dolby Pro Logic mixes from TV and Dolby-encoded videocassettes. Other convenient VCR features include eight-event, one-year programming; a built-in 181-channel tuner; and auto clock and channel set.
In the DVD audio realm, the DV2150 includes a digital coaxial audio output that connects directly to a full-featured A/V receiver. Once connected, you can listen to enveloping Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel home theater signals through a surround-sound speaker system. If you don't have a surround receiver, you can instead use the two sets of left/right RCA analog audio outputs (one each for the DVD player and VCR) and channel the audio to Dolby Pro Logic receivers and stereo TVs. The sound is still full bodied in the latter case thanks to the 3D Surround function, which simulates the surround sound experience through a two-speaker setup.
Front-panel audio/video inputs accommodate camcorders and game consoles, while the unit's JPEG picture CD playback lets you watch slideshows of your digital photos. Further connectivity stems from the component, S-video, composite, and RF video outputs, which make the DV2150 compatible with almost any TV. The combo unit even lets you watch a DVD or listen to a CD while recording a TV show, and you can always take advantage of AutoPlay, which bypasses DVD menus (and associated ads and trailers) to take you right to the start of your movies. Additional DVD features include custom bookmarking and a zoom function.
The DV2150 measures 17 by 3.6 by 10 inches (W x H x D) and is backed by a one-year warranty on parts and a 90-day warranty on labor.

solid VHS-DVD player.......2007-05-26
No frills unit and works fine. Go Video is a brand that was the first to push the VHS/DVD mix into their units. I have never had a problem with my unit and it was purchased in early 2005. It would be better if it was a little quieter while playing DVDs but that is minor. For the money, you can't go wrong.

I purchase several of this as a donation to my daughter's school. They have been using them for years without problems. It's a great product that supports both VHS tapes and CD/DVD. Definitely the best of breed for this class. No problems.
dv2140 is the unit I ended up getting.......2007-01-11
I had to return this product, could not get the dvd to work, so I sent it back to shipper, did not experience any problems with vendor getting RMA # and permission to return defective item
DVD Quit Working.......2006-11-16
We've had this unit less than 18 months and the DVD no longer reads discs. The manual is useless and support from GoVideo is nonexistent.
I will never buy another GoVideo product.
DVD 'BAD' after a few months.......2006-07-23
My daughter bought one of these for college and at first it was OK. After about 6 months it started disliking DVDs and now it almost always comes up "BAD" on the front panel display. I've tried it dozens of times with different DVDs and only once did it come up to "PLAY", but I ejected and re-inserted and it was back to "BAD". I suspect the speed is the problem not the optics, but I could be wrong. I will attempt a return to Costco.
Now that I see many similar complaints at different places on the Internet I would go with a trusted brand next time like Sony, Toshiba or Panasonic.

Product Description
Making DVD recordings from your VHS tapes has just reached a new milestone in simplicity with the introduction of YesDVD technology in the GoVideo VR2940. GoVideo has developed and mastered the technology of designing easy-to-use recording duplication devices and engineered many principles to make it as easy as possible and completely legal. GoVideo VR2940 DVD Recorder + VCR is the World's First Product combining YesDVD technology with a high performance DVD recorder and a hi-fi VCR, all in one! Automatically turn your home movies into professional quality, Hollywood-style DVDs at the touch of a button, complete with menus and chapters with picture thumbnails, as well as music videos based on home movie content, all with one easy-to-use unit. Uses 3 patented processes - TrueScan Pro, TrueView Pro & PerfectView ProGoVideo White Glove Customer Care personally guides you through operation. GoVideo White Glove team ensures you a great DVD recording first time, every time Digital Video input (DV/IEEE1394) on front panel - Control your digital camcorder and create DVDs from your home movies Playback VHS tape, DVD Video, DVD+R/RW, DVD-R/RW, Audio CDs, MP3 audio CD, and JPEG image files on CD-R/RW, and Kodak Picture CDs This Dual-Deck will not make copies of Macrovision encoded source materials
Amazon.com Product Description
Whether you're recording or playing back, GoVideo's VR2940 dual-format DVD recorder and VCR has convenience written all over it. The deck is capable of copying VHS tapes to DVD and DVDs to VHS at the touch of a button (except where prohibited by copy-protection technology). For camcorder owners, transferring home movies to DVD has never been easier. A front-panel IEEE 1394 DV input accepts feeds from digital camcorders for easy recording to DVD and for playback on your TV. You get 8-event, 1-month timer recording and you can choose whether to record to tape or disc for each program item.
Record your favorite television shows and treasured home videos to high-quality, long-lasting DVD+R (write-once) and DVD+RW (rewriteable) discs. The recorder's built-in NTSC TV tuner and onscreen user interface permits up to eight timer recordings over a single month, with five recording speeds providing between 1 and 6 hours of content on each 4.7 GB DVD. DVD+RW media require no finalizing--you can record, eject, and play them with minimal fuss, thanks to "background formatting." This feature, which lowers total burning time, is an advantage over the "dash" formats. Other DVD+RW advantages include on-disc content editing and multisession writing.
When recording, the unit automatically creates a new disc title for every new recording. You can then add chapters to these recordings manually or have them automatically inserted at 5-minute intervals.
DoMiNoFX helps you create better-looking DVDs by digitally improving the input signal using 3 patented processes: TrueScan Pro, TrueView Pro, and PerfectView Pro. A technology called CleanCopy offers one-touch improvement and archiving of your VHS tapes to long-lasting DVDs. CleanCopy automatically enhances picture and sound quality for keeping your memories vivid.
The VR2940 is a first-rate DVD player, too. Movie fans will love GoVideo's AutoPlay DVD feature, which automatically skips ads, movie trailers, and disc menus, jumping right to the start of the main attraction. Simply place the disc in the tray, press the play key, and the movie will start without interruption. YourDVD, another GoVideo exclusive, simplifies your DVD player use by permanently storing the set-up preferences that--on most DVD players--need to be checked or unchecked every time you load a new DVD.
Other versatile playback features include progressive-scan video outputs and support MP3, JPEG, and Kodak Picture CDs. A variety of video and audio inputs--including front-panel connections for fast, temporary hookups--grant connection to virtually all televisions and home theater components.
Whether your living room is currently home to an HDTV or you're merely thinking of "someday," the VR2940's DVD player stands ready to deliver the full playback potential of your DVDs. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts.
And, unlike all other DVD/VCR combination products, the VR2940 will connect to your television and deliver DVD or VHS signals using any of its available video connections, including S-video and component-/progressive-scan video outputs. Now you can view both DVD and VHS content without having to change connections or switch TV inputs.
To help you navigate the transition from VCR to DVD recording, GoVideo's "white-glove customer care" includes free telephone assistance in making your first recording, should you need it.
What's in the Box
DVD player/recorder, a blank DVD+RW disc, a remote control, remote batteries, an RF coaxial audio/video cable (3 feet), a stereo analog audio/composite-video interconnect (3 feet), and a user's manual.

Go Video Does to Better.......2007-04-20
This is just a great piece of equipment. I currently own (2) VR2940 and looking at purchasing the third unit. It does a fantastic job recording the home movies to DVD and makes a great play back unit. I don't understand some of the previous reviews. You must be able to read the manual and follow directions. The manual is very detailed so normal adults will have an easy time understanding its functionality. You can not just start pressing buttons and expect the equipment to work. Lets face it, it is not brain surgery. It's a VRC comb unit. Buy it, look at the manual, you will love it. The best part is the cover you print for the DVD case, now this is the fantastic part.
Go Video Combo Unit.......2007-01-16
I am sorry so many of you have had problems with your go video recorders. I have a couple vr5940s and have had very little trouble with them. I bought one from Sharper Image, and bought the extended warranty. I had to return the first unit, but the second one has been fine. I also bought one at Cosco on sale. Most DVDs I've used are major brands, and they record fine. I have made 4 hour recordings sucessfully. I have copied many VCR tapes. Some old tapes have dirtied my vcr section heads, but a head cleaner has fixed the problem. Rarely have I come across a DVD that won't read. Once in a while it occurs. I try it in my Sony player or my computer to see if it's a bad disc. So, I am surprised to see so many failures of the 2940. Maybe the 5940 is a better machine. I have 3 or 4 of the earlier VCR to VCR Go Video recorders, and they have always worked fine. So I am amazed at so many failures. I did have a DVD that would not read or eject, and I did have to unplug it to shut it off. And when I plugged it back in I could eject the disk. So I guess I have been very lucky. Truly a piece of junk!.......2006-12-30
I had miltple problems with this one, almost from the day I bought it! The YES video quit working within the first week. I was not able to get any help from customer service so I decided to deal with that and just make dvd's without using the YES video feature. In addition to that after finalizing the dvd's I did make...there were compatability issues with other players as well as the Go-Video player itself. I can honestly say I have never owned any player or recorder that is as unreliable as this one. To top it off the last dvd I made is locked in the recorder and the record light is still on...even if you turn it off and back on again the record light does not go off and I am unable to retrieve my dvd.
GoVideo VR2940.......2006-12-14
I don't give this unit even one star but, I had to enter a rating to continue. I bought the VR2940 approximately a year and a half ago through "Vanns". Well, initially the unit worked fine, but, after about two weeks it started to freeze while recording videos and becoming unresponsive to button presses of any sort. I would have to unplug the unit, which, of course, would make me have to reset the clock and everything. So, I emailed GoVideo about it just a couple of weeks after I bought it in July. By December I had sent three emails complaining that something was wrong with the unit and had called twice. Each call ended with being told that they would mail me the Loader Version Upgrade CD's and that should fix it. I should have received the CD's by Christmas 2005 but hadn't so I went on my trip and assumed that I would receive them by time I returned. No such luck, and, when I called them back after New Year I was then told that they don't mail out Upgrade CD's anymore. Then, after mentioning that I would just send it back and get my money back I was told that the warranty was expired. I asked the person if I could speak with whoever is in charge, I was told that nobody was there. I asked if there was nobody higher up than him and he said no. I said, "So you're running everything over there then?" He said no. In total frustration I ended the phone call and had planned to see a lawyer about it - After all, I spent approximately $350.00 to buy the "YesDVD capable VR2940". Now I have a $350.00 VCR with an inoperable DVD player (It will only play some music CD's and won't even spin-up to accept the Loader Version Upgrad CD's I just burned with the new CD Burner I bought for this reason using Nero 6) and there's nobody out there to repair it. NEVER!!! NEVER!!! buy anything that has "GoVideo" in the name. NEVER.
This is service?.......2006-12-06
GoVideo brags about its service. Here is what they really have. You have a problem, you call them. There is a voice that tells you to go to their website. You leave them an email, you get a response that says go to our website. At the website you get general instructions. There are no people that will talk to you if you have a special issue. Basically there is no service that I can find. The product doesn't work quite the way it is advertised either. Save your money. This company has nothing to brag about.

Product Description
If you're like most of us, you've got quite a collection of movies - the Hollywood variety, your kids' G-rated movie collection, not to mention all your home movies - and they're all on VHS. While DVD is really exciting and makes movies sound and look much better, who wants all those movies you've collected over the years to become obsolete? Now you can have your cake and eat it, too - all in one space in your entertainment center. Because the Go-Video DVR4000 plays both DVDs and VHS tapes in one integrated system! You still need some way to tape your TV shows, right? So the DVR4000 comes with a top-of-the line VCR built right in, capable of being "programmed" to record 16 events (twice as many as others) up to a year in advance. And you can watch a DVD (or listen to a music CD!) while the VCR records. The DVD player contains features found only on very expensive DVD models, like component connections, playback of 96KHz/24-Bit audio CDs, zoom, playback of DTS-encoded DVDs, audio during 2x scan, 10-Bit Video Digital to Analog Converter and 27MHz Advanced Digital Filter. And the VCR is a top-of-the-line, 4 head, Hi-Fi, MTS Stereo VCR with many features not found on any other VCR - such as Complete Program Record (CPR) which senses the end of your tape and switches to slow play to make sure you don't miss the end of a recorded TV show. As well as child lock which disables the buttons on the front of the unit completely (then you hide remote), glow in the dark remote control buttons, index search, blank search, date time stamp, tape remaining counter and auto clock set for easy set-up. And yes, unlike other brands, it will record DVD to VHS - but only if your DVD is not copyright- protected with Macrovision.

Customer Support?.........What's That?.......2006-01-19
I have had my unit for 3 years and have had similar problems as noted on some of the other reviews, freezing, can't read data, etc......finally had enough, could not find a service center closer than 100 miles so I sent it to the company in Scottsdale AZ for repair.....they did not even open box and read my letter, just resent it to me unopened!!! What a bunch of Jerks! Maybe they will "get it" after I e-mail a photo to them of me smashing it up with a sledge hammer in my back yard!!
A very bad purchase.......2005-06-28
I purchased this 3yrs ago. It hasnt worked properely since I bought it. It refuses to play any dvds without skipping freezing or not even "seeing" the data. Its a very bad purchase. There are many other items out there that not only work but they also have a more cooperative customers service department that are willing to help you to make sure that you are completely satisfied with spending your hard earned money.
Had for over a YEAR works great even after move to Italy!!!.......2004-05-07
I bought this one almost a year and a half ago in maine. I was thrilled to get a machine that didn't take up much space and is a cinch to connect. I am a military wife and we moved to Italy. We now connect it through a transformer due to the electricity and a satalite box. I am able to connect my surround sound speakers to it with ease. Very simple hookup I have not had any problems. I love this machine! Thank you GO VIDEO!
Ugh.......2003-11-15
I was really excited to finally get a DVD player. But I'd only had it about a month when it started to skip scenes and freeze periodically. It wouldn't even play some DVDs that I found played perfectly on my cousin's player. While playing one DVD, it froze every few seconds. This is a horrible player, and it's obviously cheap for a reason.
Liked it at first, bought 2nd one...... now both are dead!.......2003-05-07
I am really disappointed in this product. As the title says, I bought one and loved it. Bought a second one for living room and was happy. After about 6 mos, (of course post warranty) mine started showing all DVDs very dark and then light. You couldn't watch a DVD. VCR worked ok. Then the second one started with the same problem. I was VERY upset about this and had no recourse. So I am writing this note hoping it will stop someone else from buying one and experiencing the same problems. As I said, at the get-go the unit was terrific. I expect a DVD to last longer than these did. They were both used by adults and probably used for a max of 2-3 DVDs a week.
Did I replace mine? You bet. I bought a JVC and am happy with it. Just have to keep reading the manual to see how it all works.
Skip Go Video..... save yourself a headache in the long run!

It was really easy to hook up and works great!
VCR Still Works.......2005-10-04
I suppose I should look on the bright side - it still plays tapes. We got about three months out of this unit before the DVD player quit. Lens cleaning was no help. Over the last five years we've owned a Philips, Sony, Apex, Memorex, and now this thing. I thought it might help to buy one that wasn't made in China, but I guess I should be a good little consumer and just recognize that DVD players are disposable now. I won't, however, be buying another Go Video product.
Review of Purchase of Go Video DV1040.......2005-09-30
The product was shipped on a timely basis. It was in excellent
condition when received. Installation instructions were clear
and the process was simple.
I am extremely happy with this purchase and would not hesitate
to purchase a Go item in the future.
Good value nice features.......2005-06-27
Some other reviewers are upset that their DVD units failed. Well, guess what, there is NO "reliable" DVD player on the market anywhere. Every model by every manufacturer has a failure rate per hundred that is higher than what people would put up with on any other type of product. That's just the way it is, which is why I buy a unit like this. My Go Video DV1040 has great features, works in harmony with human intuition and was very affordable. DVD players are disposable items. Get used to it. Maybe someday mine will fail too. I have had DVD players from several other companies over the years and theirs all failed, which is why I had to buy this one.
RUN - Don't Walk - Away from this item.......2005-04-23
Is it possible to give an item no stars? If so, this product qualifies. I had my unit for a few weeks and the DVD player started acting up. Before two months were finished, it had quit. GoVideo's suggestion: use a lens cleaner. I sent the unit back and they replaced it with a 2150 model, but their warranty covers a second unit only for the remainder of the original warranty. Guess what? After two months, it went south too. My suggestion: Instead of buying a Go-Video product, save yourself some time and just burn your money.

Product Description
Good things come in slim packages. Enjoy all of your favorite movies, music, slideshows and more on this slimline, progressive scan DVD+VCR. The DV2140 offers EZ Play, one-touch copy, watch-and-record, Progressive Scan DVD, and a Hi-Fi VCR in one space-saving Dual-Deck.
Amazon.com Product Description
Easy to set up and even easier to operate, the remarkable GoVideo DV2140 gives you a full-featured DVD and CD player to handle your movies and music--including MP3 and WMA files stored on CD-R or CD-RW--and a built-in 4-head, hi-fi stereo VCR to play your existing library of videocassettes and to record new programs.
Front-panel audio/video inputs accommodate camcorder and gaming hookups, while JPEG picture CD playback lets you watch slideshows of your digital photos. The unit's compatibility with recordable DVDs (DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW) makes it a cinch to copy your homemade discs to tape. The combo unit even lets you watch a DVD or listen to a CD while recording a TV show, and you can always take advantage of EZ Play, which bypasses DVD menus to take you right to the start of your movies.
Whether your living room is currently home to an HDTV or you're merely thinking of "someday," the DV2140's DVD section stands ready to deliver the full potential of your commercial DVDs. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts. Even without an HD-ready set, the component-video outputs can be set to output interlaced video, in which they help minimize line scan and digital artifacts on compatible televisions.
Composite- and S-video outputs bring DVD compatibility with nearly any television, and this unit makes hookup with older sets even easier by passing both DVD and VHS video and audio signals through its coaxial RF output--perfect for use with older TVs lacking separate audio and video inputs.
In the audio realm, 2 sets of left/right RCA analog-audio outputs (1 each for the DVD player and the VCR) channel audio to Dolby Pro Logic receivers and stereo televisions. For enveloping home-theater audio from DVDs, both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound signals can be routed through the player's coaxial digital-audio output for direct connection to a full-featured audio/video receiver. If you don't have a surround receiver or 6-channel speaker setup, you can still make every movie night the ultimate experience: 3D Surround simulates surround sound through 2 speakers (even the stereo speakers on your TV).
This model's 4-head VCR design ensures smooth slow-motion play (forward and reverse) and clear still-frame images, while hi-fi sound records and plays back stereo audio tracks. If you route the stereo output to an AV receiver, you can even enjoy four-channel (left, center, right, and monaural surround) Dolby Pro Logic mixes from TV and Dolby-encoded videocassettes. Convenient features include 8-event, 1-year programming, and auto clock and channel set.
What's in the Box
DVD/VCR combo player/recorder, a remote control, remote batteries, a user's manual, and a stereo analog audio interconnect/composite-video cable.

GoVideo problem.......2007-01-30
This company is a JOKE! No customer service phone and nobody wants to answer my emails either. If the product has a warranty, what good is it if I can't get anybody to answer my calls? By the time I reach somebody it will be out of warranty! The DVD player worked about 2 weeks (max) and we take the top off and put it back on & it might work sometimes and sometimes not. What a joke--DON'T buy GoVideo--not worth your money.
No-Go Video.......2006-03-25
I had read in the past Govideo had the worst record when it came to reliabilty and repairs on their products. I also hoped they had since improved their product line. Unfortunately they have not not.
I bought this unit at Costco for $88 thinking I would at least (at least!) get a decent player for my bedroom. How wrong I was!
at first everything worked fine and I was happy. The dvd player was a little clunky and noisy, as was the vcr, but it worked and played great.
After a few months the dvd seemed to get noisier, eventually it stopped playing altogether. I opened the unit and discovered the disc drive was no longer spinning the disc. Manually spinning it would get it going temporarily, but then it would wind down again and stop.
It now is a spare vcr and I've bought a new dvd/vcr combo player, a Toshiba. At least the vcr is still usable and I didn't really pay more than I would have for a standalone vcr.
I will not be buying any Govideo products again.
Piece of junk with great customer support.......2005-08-13
I bought this equipment less than a year ago for one of the bedrooms of our new Bed and Breakfast. The machine has been used no more than 10 times and was never able to read most of the DVD of our collection. I called customer support and was able to speak with a real American (Congratulations to Go Video for this). He told me to clean the lenzes with a special disk that could be bought at Radio Shack which I did. But the reader kept skipping tracks randomely even after the cleaning. I called Customer Support again and the told me that they would exchange the machine for $59.99 plus shipping charges. What a highway robbery. I'll just take it to our dump, write off the cost of the machine and will buy a Panasonic.
Misleading Technical Information.......2005-07-21
I purchased this GO Video unit specifically to play DVD recorded in the DVD+R and DVD+RW formats. The Amazon.com technical information states that this item is capable of playing these formats. However, the owners manual that comes with the machine only lists the DVD-R/RW formats and even then states that some of those may not play.
As it turns out, I was unable to confirm even these capabilities as the DVD player would not even play any of several commercial DVDs without locking up with a frozen display that no button on the remote or on the face of the unit could affect. Only turning off the power and restarting would allow some control to be restored.
I have returned the unit as unsuitable for my needs.
DVD is a poor performer.......2005-06-17
DVD only plays 1/2 of my rented DVD's, the rest get a "DISC ERROR". I've only used it around 6 times. It's out of warranty, so I'm stuck. I should have used it more right away.

Amazon.com Product Description
Easy to set up and even easier to operate, the compact and affordable GoVideo DV1030 gives you a full-featured DVD player/CD player to handle your movies and music--including MP3 files stored on CD-R or CD-RW--and a built-in four-head, hi-fi, stereo VCR to play your existing library of videotapes and record new programs. Front-panel audio/video inputs accommodate camcorder and gaming hookups, JPEG picture CD playback lets you watch slideshows of your digital photos, and the unit's compatibility with recordable DVDs (DVD-R, DVD-RW) makes copying your homemade tapes to discs, and vice versa, a breeze. The combo unit even lets you watch a DVD or listen to a CD while recording a TV show.
Whether your living room is currently home to an HDTV or you're merely thinking of "someday," the DV1030's DVD section stands ready to deliver the full potential of your commercial DVDs. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts. Even without an HD-ready set, the component-video outputs can be set to output interlaced video, in which they help minimize line-scan and digital artifacts on compatible televisions. Composite- and S-video outputs bring DVD compatibility with nearly any television.
In the audio realm, two sets of left/right RCA analog-audio outputs (one each for the DVD player and the VCR) channel audio to Dolby Pro Logic receivers and stereo televisions. For immersive home-theater audio from DVDs, both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound signals can be routed through the player's optical digital-audio output for direct connection to a full-featured audio/video receiver. If you don't have a surround receiver or six-channel speaker setup, you can still make every movie night the ultimate experience: 3D Surround simulates surround sound through two speakers (even the stereo speakers on your TV).
This model's four-head VCR design ensures smooth slow-motion play (forward and reverse) and clear still-frame images, while hi-fi sound records and plays back stereo audio tracks. If you route the stereo output to an AV receiver, you can even enjoy four-channel (left, center, right, and monaural surround) Dolby Pro Logic mixes from TV and Dolby-encoded videotapes. Convenient features include eight-event, one-year programming, 19-micron heads (which deliver the clearest possible picture when recording or viewing in extended-play mode), and auto clock and channel sets.

Same results as others.......2005-12-05
It worked ok for a year. although I agreed with another reviewer who commented on the bad remote. After about a year it started giving me the bad disc response! I would not reccomend this player.
Worked fine for approx. 8 months then died.......2005-11-21
DVD side of this player says all my discs are "bad discs". I have to smack it on the sides or top to make it work. But even then in the middle of the movie it dies. I have even tried cd/dvd cleaners to no avail. So I will be buying a new dvd player because this is an extreme annoyance.
One thing I never liked was the remote control--buttons are tiny & not clearly marked.
WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS DVD/VCR player no matter how low the cost!
Don't buy it!.......2005-04-19
Yes, believe the bad reviews and save yourself some major frustration. The price suckers you in. This product worked ok for a year, but once the warranty was up, the machine stopped working altogether. The "professional service" is a joke. They don't care, and it shows. It would cost more to fix this piece of junk than to buy a new one, and that's what I have to do. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!
govideo dv 1030 is good buy.!.......2005-04-08
the go video i have the dv1030 dvd/vcr is good,i purchased it here on amazon.com.i was alittle afraid due to some of the reviews i looked at, but mine is find;the dvd plays well and the vcr is ok.only thing i could see the vcr picture is alittle soft.due to no h.q. circuits, other wise i found it's agood buy.
Stay away from Go Video.......2005-03-20
I purchased this player from Ecost.com and was over charged. The unit I bought was factory reconditioned, so I figured it would be in mint condition. It never worked on the DVD side when it arrived. These units when not working are to be returned to Go Video for repair. So you are stuck with paying the shipping to them. This will cancel out any great buys you might think you are getting. STAY AWAY FROM GO VIDEO!!!!!!!!!
