The recorder's built-in NTSC TV tuner and onscreen user interface permits up to eight timer recordings over a one-year period, with its six DVD recording speeds providing between one and 10 hours of content on a single-sided 4.7 GB recordable DVD (DVD-R/RW discs only). You can even select and compile the best footage to commit to disc: the recorder's handy editing features include auto playlist creation, project titling, title deletion and editing, and scene deletion.

In addition to DVD movie and CD audio playback capabilities, the ZRY-316 is also compatible with playing content from CD-R/RW and DVD-R/RW discs as well as CDs burned with MP3 digital audio files. Content compatibility includes MP3 and WMA digital audio and JPEG digital photos, as well as the ability to view photo slide shows with background music from disc.

You can easily set a recording time as you prefer. Every time the REC button pressed during recording, the recording time will be increased by 30 minutes up to 4 hours. The recording automatically stops when the recording time you set is reached. You can confirm the picture quality for recording in the current recording speed which you set. If you want to change the recording speed, press REC SPEED button to set the desired recording mode.

Records to all brands (and speeds) of blank dvd-r or dvd-rw discs that I have tried so far. Playback picture quality is good when recorded at 2 or 4 hour speeds. This machine doesn't have a dv input for best recording from a mini-dv camcorder but the camera can be connected using the other inputs and then edited (delete scenes, make titles) in VR mode. But, if I needed to edit and copy home movies, I would just do that on the computer. I use this machine as a vcr replacement to record from the built-in tv tuner. It handles this job just fine.

Wonderful dvd recorder dvd-r's only so cheaper then dvd+r's which is wonderful- works like a champ so far so good... ONLY PROBLEM WAS HOOKING IT UP - sylvania said to hook up both the coaxial cable and the component cables (red yellow and white) told them it was stupid to hook up both - and useless - she said buy a rf modulator - so just buy 1 to start with if ur tv doesnt accept component hook up's

DVD's skipping!.......2007-05-12

Maybe it's too early to tell. I recorded some Hi-8 camcorder tapes onto DVD's just fine with this product, but have yet to figure out how to convert them on the computer to a format with which I can edit the video into clips with my computer's video editing software. The problem is, after about a month of use as a DVD player, some of my kids' DVD's are all garbled and un-playable! They work fine on our other DVD players and the problem doesn't happen with all our movies, just some of them. It's frustrating. I'm going to try to get a head cleaner, but I am afraid this is a problem with the DVD player since it is brand new and should not have to be cleaned. I have another DVD player that is probably five years old, never had a head cleaning, and works like a charm. So, I give this one three stars.

I just got this recorder today and tried to record one VHS. Everything was fine, can record in my 8x DVD-R, can play it in this recorder. However ,the disk can't be read/open by my pc dvd writer and PHlips dvd player( the model that can play DIVX). Does anybody have the same problem?

That's why I only gave this machine 3 stars. If the disc could be read by PC,then it would be just great one. So far ,I don't know how to fix it.

update:

Today, I just did some google research, and finally found the solution to the problem. Just remember to finalize your DISC if you want to play it on any other DVD player or PC. You have to use the DISC MENU where you can find the command "finalize" to finish this. I have successfully played my VHS vedio on Phlips DVD player and PC DVD writer. So now I have to say it is a great buy! THe cheapest one in the market and it works great. Tha last question on this product would be how long we can play with it:-)

I would like to give 5 stars to this product,considering its good value/price.
