Amazon.com Product Description
While away the road hours with Malata's compact and lightweight DVP-710V. The portable DVD player features a 7-inch widescreen (16:9 aspect ratio) LCD for clear, vivid images true to the dimensions of most theatrical-release movies. Its built-in stereo speakers grant headphones-free listening, and a headphone jack lets you listen in private using optional stereo headphones. The player spins DVDs--both NTSC and region-free/region 1 PAL-formatted discs--as well as commercial CDs, recordable CDs, and discs brimming with MP3 music or JPEG digital photos. Electronic skip protection minimizes viewing or listening interruptions while you're out and about.
The unit's composite-video output lets you use the DVP-710V as a home player by hooking it up with your television (older TVs may require a video modulator to convert the player's composite-video signal to RF coaxial). There's a digital-audio output, too, so you can channel your movies' Dolby Digital surround sound to a compatible audio/video receiver and multichannel speaker system. Huge fun from a tiny device. A slim remote control simplifies use from your couch.
What's in the Box
DVD player, a remote control, a remote battery, a lithium-ion battery, an AC/DC power adapter, and a user's manual.
Customer Reviews:
It's the battery! Ha....well now i like it.......2005-12-28
i had the screen issue myself, Just got the thing and the screen died....but! I took out the battery found out that it was not in completly or something, it just wasn't right. I popped it back in and presto the thing works like a charm.
dead screens on both!.......2005-11-14
I had written one of the good reviews a while back and ow I am sorry I did. both my units have same dead screen problem as described by others here and epions after low to moderate use and no abuse.
The sound plays and one can see extremely faint video going to the screen but the backlighting is apparently dead so it is useless. No help from company. $110 to fix this?
I see used ones are for sale. I would be very cautious about buying a used one since this product is expecially flimsly.
Junk - anyone with warranty info??.......2005-08-30
We used this player maybe 3 or 4 times, a total of 10 hours or so, and the screen is dead. If you hold it at just the right angle, you can see some shadows on the screen, so it seems to be the back-lighting.
Amazon's only reply was "sorry, contact the manufacturer, but we don't have any information on how to contact them - here's our search engine". Uhh, gee thanks.
The warranty info I have says to return where I bought it. Anyone have info on where to return this for warranty service?
Junk.......2005-07-30
Used the machine a total of 3 time then the LCD screen went blank had just passed warranty company was of no help. Would strongly advise against this unit
A complete disaster.......2005-07-28
First, I was denied the $50 rebate. I sent every piece of paper they requested and all bar codes from the box, and they claimed I did send enough information.
Now, on to the player. It worked great the 1st 6 times I used it. Unfortunately, that's all I got. The cheap little on/off switch is broken internally (you can feel lack of resistence and it won't turn on), and I just passed my 90 day warranty, so fixing it will be on my dime. When all the controls for every function are tucked nicely under the fold down lid, how can they put such an incredibly cheap power switch made of the most fragle plastic on the outside of the case? The mind boggles.
Buy a quality unit, pass on this. With the fake rebate and the horrid quality, I just flushed $190.00 down the toilet, thinking I would save a little by buying this unit. I was wrong.
