The Bose 3-2-1 DVD home entertainment system offers superb sound, elegance, and simplicity in an advanced home-audio setup. The DVD/CD player plays your DVD-Video movies and CD-based music, including MP3 files written to recordable CD-R or CD-RW. Disc features include repeat and random play, DVD parental controls, forward and reverse chapter/track skip, and scanning within tracks.

The supplied shelf speakers employ Bose's Articulated Array system with a patented driver configuration to provide clear, lifelike sound and an even sound coverage not always possible with conventional designs. This technology reduces acoustical dead spots and lets you hear the full frequency range of music and speech from small and unobtrusive speakers.

In the Bose Acoustimass module, 2 downward-firing drivers give you powerful performance for the lowest audible notes and effects. And proprietary Bose technology ensures that you hear with clarity the proper balance of deep lows from all channels for music and movies. Hide the module almost anywhere, even behind furniture, and all the sound seems to come from the small cube speaker arrays.

Overall I've been happy with the sound from this unit in my relatively small living room.

However, I have experienced several of the software quirks mentioned by other readers. When playing DVDs, the unit will periodically lock up, requiring a hard reset to function again. The system also occasionally gets into a state where the sound has a deteriorated "tinny" quality -- this also goes away with a power cycle of the unit. Defects like this are a bit disappointing from a relatively mature (second edition) product from a name like Bose.

One tip is that while the system ships with relatively short custom cords for connecting the unit to subwoofer and the subwoofer to the speakers, longer versions of both cables can be ordered directly from Bose for relatively nominal cost (one was free and one was less than $50 if I recall).

I bought mine for my Husband.We have all the same problem as all of you do and most of all the sound is not good .and they don't give you your money back if you purchase threw Bose ,witch I did that's alot of money down the drain .They don't care .All I got was return it for repair and I haVe to paid for that also .

i set this up in 30 minutes, and it sounds gresat, picture is great. only dowfall is the speaker lines a slightly too short for my big living room. i will have to buy extensions.

When my fiancee and I moved into our new condo, we bought an HDTV and HD Cable. We contemplated getting the Bose 321, Sony DAV-X1 and some other options but eventually settled on an LG DVD player. BAD MISTAKE. The thing was terrible and eventually stopped pushing sound through the HDMI cable. She also wanted a radio with an iPod dock and asked for the wave radio. I just couldn't justify spending almost $700 for a clock radio with a basic ipod dock. As my birthday came up we looked into replacing the lackluster DVD player with a system of some type. Since I can't really run the wires and the couch is against the opposite wall, 5.1 was out of the question. The battle ended up being the Sony DAV-X1 or the Bose 321. I chose the Bose for the following reasons...

1. The Bose is much more visually appealing than the Sony.
2. The Bose floor speaker stands were $99 as opposed to $299 for the Sony
3. Bose has very good product support
4. This system could be linked in to future Bose products meaning it can remain with us for a very long time.

Setup was a breeze. I'm a pretty technical person so this was no issue for me at all but I can certainly appreciate the effort taken to make installation simple for someone who doesn't want, care or understand about these matters. Bose knows their target market wants something they can plug in and it just works.

The 321 fits into my living room very well. It takes up very little space and compliments my entertainment setup. As far as sound, I've read all the complaints about Bose, how they don't release their specs and that it's all marketing. My other half would not have been happy with 3' floor mounted speakers, speakerwire running across the floor and big booming bass. Come to think of it, the neighbors wouldn't have liked the bass either.

I'm not an audiophile but the system sounds like it has a very nice range of sound that fills our livingroom and kitchen. The DVD/CD player performs well (much better than my previous). It isn't true surround sound but I really didn't expect it to be. Ideally this system is a holdover until we move to a bigger place when I can get a Lifestyle system and move this one to the bedroom or office.

My next purchases to integrate with the system is an Apple TV and Logitech Harmony Remote as the Bose remote was not able to control my Olevia TV.

My only wish is that the 321 would play AAC CDs instead of just MP3. Needless to say, I give it 5 stars. Great sound without drama from the Misses.

The BOSE 3-2-1 GS Series II system, like most all of its other products, deliver incredible quality backed by superior workmanship. My advice - wait until you have the money and buy BOSE! It's worth the wait and delivers magnificent sound and performance.

I was a little nervous at first purchasing this system because of some of the negative feedback I heard on other systems from Bose & the high price $1199. ABT electronics did throw in the $120 speaker stands for free which was nice. After I first installed the systems it did not sound as expected; but after some adjustments to the angle of the speakers and raising the bass and treble in the setup menu the sounds is terrific. As Bose states in their manual this system is meant to realisticaly recreate sounds, not overdue certain effects like many systems do. So far I have had great enjoyement listening to CD's and DVD's, Top Gun sounds better than I have ever heard it. The set-up was easy, including the stands it took 25 minutes and then another 30 min to understand all the menus.

This is a great sound, you think how can 2 speakers have a 5.1 surround sound, well it can. I mean the depth, sound is rich in quality.

Pro's: Great sound, 3D depth, sounds like your in the theater. DVD player is a great player.

Con's: The worst con is that it does NOT support progressive scan out put, just regular Video cables, and S-Video.

I just bought this system for my livingroom. I use to have a surround sound system with like 5 speakers and the speakers werent that great and were everywhere in the room. This 3-2-1 Bose System is easy to set up and only had 2 speakers and 1 subwoofer. If you have a small to medium size livingroom this is perfect. Its as if you were sitting at the movie theater. The system sounds so good and is also a dvd player, cd player and am fm radio. Its a dvd stereo system all in one. Im so glad I bought this product. You cant go wrong with this one.
