With a five-disc carousel, you can keep your favorite DVDs and CDs in the player and add new media without interrupting playback of the current disc. Standard features of this model include S-video and component-video outputs, TruSurround virtual surround sound (simulated surround for stereo speakers), and an onscreen menu.

Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround compatibility lets the player accommodate both major surround formats. On the video side, component-video outputs ensure compatibility with most modern televisions. This output splits the signal into color composites to give increased image purity, lifelike colors, and crisp color resolutions.

The DVL500B has all the options you want for a CD player, including programmable tracklists and repeat play, combined with the best features of a DVD player.

Three-step, high-speed scan search quickly moves you forward and back through your favorite DVDs and CDs to find that moment you love. Support for bookmarks, 4x zoom, angle change, slow motion, and still-frame gives you all the flexibility you need for watching your favorite movies. Subtitles are also supported, as well as a built-in screen-saver for long periods of inactivity. The DVL500B supports a variety of TV aspects as well: 16:9 wide, 4:3 pan-scan, and 4:3 letter box.

I purchased this machine, via Home Depot's arrangement with amazon, the total price, including shipping was only just over $70 ****!!
The unit works perfectly, the quality of the playback indistinguishable from my single play SONY unit, it seams undetected into my SONY home theatre setup. Albeit, it encourages one to become more of a couch potatoe, but the controls are easy, the remote a joy, so what the heck?
This price cannot last long, but even at twice the amount it would be a superb value.
SYLVANIA produces high quality products consistantly.

I thought this was one of the coolest things. The DVD's are getting to a point were they are too exspensive and this is a good quality and it is not as exspencive as some of the others. So if you want a good quality DVD player and don't want to spend to much money this is a good buy.
