The Philips DVD940AT DVD Player offers discrete dual-laser pickup to ensure high-quality pictures and sound with both DVDs and CDs. One laser is optimized for DVD-video playback while the other is dedicated to CD audio playback. Laser life is also maximized in this configuration. It is feature upgradable, meaning that the Philips DVD940AT allows you to add features using DVD upgrade discs as they become available through Philips. These might include backgrounds, search speeds and modes, audio processing, display parameters, interactivity, titles, CD Text, languages, screen savers, and upgraded video processing.
Audio features include virtual 3-D surround sound with Digital Theater Sound (DTS) capability. This player's TruSurround 3D uses SRS technology to create a virtual surround effect in stereo, which is particularly enjoyable with headphones.
Video features include three-jack component output connections that provide maximum signal quality and enhanced color accuracy for better performance than an S-video connection. The digital-to-analog converter converts the digital video information into 10-bit format instead of 8 or 9 bits. The Philips DVD940AT also provides perfect still-picture quality in pause, freeze-frame, or slow-frame advance modes.
This player offers an 80-disc parental approval system that, when activated, permits play of only preauthorized discs unless a special PIN code is entered. The player will remember up to 80 disc preauthorizations, allowing unrestricted playback of these discs.
The Philips DVD940AT comes with an S-video cable, a remote control with batteries, an audio cable, an AC cable, and a user's manual in English, French, and Spanish. This player is covered by a manufacturer's warranty of a year on parts, 90 days on labor.
