Product Description
Amazon.com Product Description
The Panasonic DVD-RV32S DVD player plays DVD-Video, DVD-R, Video CD, CD, CD-R/RW, MP3, and WMA formatted media. It features A, B, C, D functions, which stand for Advanced Surround (V.S.S.), Bass Plus, Cinema Mode, and Dialogue Enhancer, for enhancing the home theater experience. Advanced Surround (V.S.S.) simulates a surround-sound effect using only the front two speakers, so you can enjoy Dolby Digital 5.1 channel discs without an elaborate home theater system. Additionally, the Bass Plus output enables a two-channel setup when you connect an optional subwoofer to your system, so you can get great, realistic home theater sound. Cinema Mode allows clear, bright colors and enhances the color in darker scenes by automatically adjusting picture contrast. The Dialogue Enhancer lets you hear clear dialogue from the center channel over other sound channels. All functions are on the front panel of the DVD player for easy access and control.

The DVD-RV32S also features Optical Digital Output for Dolby Digital (AC3) and DTS external decoder, Variable Zoom Function, Hi-Speed Smooth Scan (up to x200), a Progress Indicator, and Quick Replay, which allows you to jump back 7-10 seconds during playback. It includes S-Video, subwoofer, and video outputs, and comes with a standard remote control.

Product Description:
Watching DVDs, you can count on seeing a crystal-clear picture on every disc. The DVD-RV32's twin laser pickup flawlessly plays through the microscopic disc defects and layer changes that often cause budget players to stumble. If you're not a fan of wide screen movies, you can use the 4:3 TV Zoom feature to expand a letterbox movie to fill up more of a regular 4:3 TV screen. For full DVD impact, you can connect the player's optical digital output to a compatible Dolby Digital receiver for 5.1-channel surround sound. If you haven't put together a home theater system yet, Panasonic's Advanced Virtual Surround Sound simulates a surround effect, using just a pair of speakers of your TV or stereo system.

4 out of 5 stars Still alive and Kicking.......2006-06-25

My wife has had this DVD player (the black version, but this is not listed) for about 4 years now, and it is still doing fine. If you clean this every 4-6 months. This DVD player has all the standard features(optical audio out, composite out, s video, and standard video). It does not have coax audio out though, and it is right before progressive scan came into existence. This does have very easy to navigate menu features, and the remote set up is pretty agreable as well. The picture and sound are good. What more can I say. Four years, it does not owe my wife or I anything.

2 out of 5 stars Hard to say how this compares to other DVD players in it's class..........2006-01-20

This DVD player has many great features that make it stand out above others- Unfortunately, I have had the same experience that most people have had with this DVD player, the infamous "H07" error code- It ran fine for about a year, and then displayed the error. After doing some research however, I determined the code was related to a faulty spindle motor. I desoldered the motor and tested it, and it seemed to be working fine- I ended up disassembling the spindle motor and cleaning the brushes to get it to work, and although it was not the most pleasant experience, it's worked fine ever since.

I've read from numerous repair shops that this problem (cheap spindle motors) is fairly common in all DVD players in this price range. I imagine most DVD players use the same common motors as well as other internal parts. I suspect the biggest flaw in the Panasonic model(s) are their uncanny ability to detect the smallest problem-problems that truly aren't fatal... (the motor was still working, it just had dirty brushes). It's built-in diagnostics are just too sensitive.

It's just unfortunate that Panasonic won't address the problem- it's pretty apparent that this sensitivity is affecting a large portion of consumers.

1 out of 5 stars Death by H07 .......2005-12-19

H07 - The thing that really frustrates me more than anything else is that I probably spent several hours messing around with the DVD player before I saw all of the posts online. I'll never get that time back ... now, its personal.

I will give Panasonic the benefit of the doubt and try calling that executive office help number for assistance. I suppose every company has a case of bad design every once in a while. I would think that they would do the stand-up thing and fix the problem - right?.

1 out of 5 stars First my Panasonic TV and now my DVD player....Another ho7!!!!!!!!!!! .......2005-12-07

I've had it for almost 3 years and was very happy with it until it died today, but even my old crappy RCA DVD player lasted almost this long.
I would've expected a Panasonic player to last at least 5 years. Nope. Stupid motor is crapping out. Could pay $35 for a new motor on their site but it would most likely die with the same problem. Tried the WD40 fix, but it only worked for 10 minutes before displaying the "HO7" error again. I'll try one more time, then I'll be forced to buy a quality player(meaning not from Panasonic.)
And now my Panasonic TV is having issues with the RCA inputs.
Thanks Panasonic!

1 out of 5 stars don't buy this machine!.......2005-08-06

I've had this machine for less than a year and I received the dreaded H07 error (see reviews below). I've had cheap knock-off machines last much longer than this one. I'm surprised this is from Panasonic. My impression of them is definitely tarnished. I will not buy another consumer-grade Panasonic appliance again.
