Product Description
From the Manufacturer
We didn't reserve the good stuff for only our most expensive DVD players. With the budget friendly DV-CP500, you'll find the same high build quality and progressive scan capability found in our high-end models at a fraction of the price. For example, the DV-CP500s unique Direct Digital Path design avoids potential noise from nearby microprocessors and power supplies by outputting the signal directly from the laser pick-up module to the rear panel connectors. And its parallel video outputs make it easy to connect multiple TVs to give you video enjoyment in more than one room. The DV-CP500 can also play back your audio CDs including high-resolution 96 kHz/24-bit audio discs CD-R/RWs, Video CDs, and even MP3 CDs! And this year we've included true random CD playback so you realize the all benefits of 5-disc convenience when playing back your favorite music.

Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars Gets worse with use.......2007-01-12

This DVD player started out great, but over time it started failing at the same points on multiple DVDs. The DVDs work in every other player I have. Now the places it fails are expanding and it is beginning to refuse to read some DVDs at all. I liked all the features and didn't really mind the slow response time, but this is just a poor example of a DVD player.

1 out of 5 stars Absolutely Horrible.......2005-11-13

I'll just add my woes to the long list. Same problems as others have seen -- slow opening or sticking drawer, disc errors on discs that much older cheaper players will play, erratic performance. Problems started after a few months. Should have taken it back then. I have the same Onkyo receiver as one of the previous reviewers, and I've also had outstanding performance from it, but I will NEVER again purchase an Onkyo DVD player. Heading to the store right now for a replacement.

1 out of 5 stars Junk.......2004-11-08

The first one failed, didn't read DVDs and would not eject. I sent it back in under warranty and the replacement did the same thing. What a junker. I've had all kinds of Onkyo equipment in the past and it was all top quality. Not this piece.

1 out of 5 stars First it would not read DVD's, now it will not eject!.......2004-10-13

Wow! I wish these reviews existed when I bought mine! Same problems: It was always slow; It stopped reading discs after 10 months (under warranty had it fixed at a local shop within a week); Now it will not eject, and of coarse it is out of warranty!

1 out of 5 stars Yet Another Customer VICTIMIZED by Onkyo's DVD Player.......2004-08-16

Oh, man...I feel ALL your pain. Our expensive Onkyo DVD player has just given up the ghost -- the same way all of yours did.Uncannily similar -- we've had it about a year...light use...and it ALWAYS sucked -- Always giving us wierd, balky performance...but you could usually coax it to work...but now?
ERROR READING DISK. What a piece of CRAP!!!!
Clearly it's an engineering or manufacturing error -- but that helps us NOT, right?
Where are all the class action attorneys chasing McDonald's with fat people law suits NOW?
I wish there was a decent website where you could really get honest up to the minute reviews of products -- the cyber age has left Consumer Reports, and even things like E Opinions, totally behind...
I FEEL EVERYBODY'S PAIN -- AND EAT CRAP, ONKYO!!!!!
