Looking for more technical specifics? This Pioneer DVD contains an exclusive viter-bi RF decoding process for improved error-correcting capability for the playback of cinema-quality DVDs. In addition, Pioneer has included newly developed accurate digital servo technology for precise data reading. An automatic gain level adjustment minimizes picture jitter, and 10-bit video processing re-quantizes the 8-bit video data to 10-bit video data prior to the D/A conversion process. The 10-bit video D/A converter converts 10-bit video data into an equivalent analog signal with minimum conversion error. This unit also contains 24-bit resolution audio D/A converter with 96 kHz sampling frequency. Hi-bit conversion re-quantizes the original 16-bit and 20-bit audio data for equivalent 24-bit resolution on DVD and CD. There are also built-in crossovers for 6-channel input (front, center, and rear).

The front panel is clean and again reminds one of a centrally loaded CD transport. The front panel has disc transport controls (Play, etc.) and buttons for the various surround modes. It also has a button that turns the luminous display off which is very nice once you have settled in to watch a disc.The DV-606D performs flawlessly in DVD mode with absolutely phenomenal picture quality with extremely full deep blacks and no digital artifacts.
