Initial Technology's IDM-1560 is little bigger than a portable CD player, but offers a world of flexibility when used with optional headphones or a portable TV or LCD monitor (not included). It even offers an antishock system to guard against viewing or listening interruptions when you're on the go. Other features include picture zoom, 20-track CD programming, resume play, repeat play, and a screen saver.
Connections consist of a composite-video output for screen hookup and an optical digital-audio output so you can connect the player with an audio/video receiver and multichannel speaker system for immersive DTS or Dolby Digital 5.1-channel surround from applicable discs (optical digital-audio interconnect not included).

Cute little DVD player.......2004-06-11
Just a few minor gripes: When I power off my car, the cigarette lighter goes dead, so the player doesn't remember where it was on the DVD, so you have to track forward to the correct scene (I guess that's more of a gripe about my van than about the player). Also, the remote control is very weak; you have to be within a few feet of the player and be pointing right at it for the remote to work; hard for the kids to do when the player is on the floor.
I chose this model because it comes with both an AC power cord for in the house and a car adapter for the cigarette lighter, so you don't have to buy an extra adapter. But be aware that it does not come with a battery; the manual describes an optional snap on rechargeable battery pack, but I don't know what that would cost.
