A great addition to your bedroom or your home office, the affordable 15-inch Sharp LC15SH6U LCD TV is capable of displaying not only television signals in 480p (480-pixel progressive, with optional tuner), but also from video sources such as progressive-scan DVD players. This offers a far better resolution and picture than playing a DVD through an interlaced video screen from a standard CRT set. It comes with a table top stand, and can also be mounted underneath a cabinet with the optional articulating wall-mount bracket. It features an integrated 180-channel NTSC tuner for standard definition broadcasts and a 4:3 aspect ratio screen.

This set features Sharp's proprietary Advanced Super View (ASV) LCD panel technology, which uses an enhanced color filter that permits more light throughput. The screen also offers a low-reflection coating to reduce the effect of sunlight and interior lighting to provide vivid pictures wherever you install your LCD television. This set offers a very good brightness rating of 430 cd/m2 (candela per square meter), which provides a vivid picture even when placed near windows, doors, or other light sources. Other screen features include a 640 x 480-pixel resolution, 170-degree viewing angle, and a 500:1 contrast ratio. (The higher the contrast ratio, the greater a TV's ability to display subtle color details and not get washed out by ambient room light.)

It has two integrated stereo speakers that produce 2 watts of total audio power (1 watt per channel). Other connection options include:

Tech Talk
Component video (also called Y/Pb/Pr) features a three-jack video input, which provides separate connections for luminance (Y), blue color difference (PB) and red color difference (PR). This results in increased bandwidth for color information, resulting in a more accurate picture with clearer color reproduction and less bleeding than you would get with S-Video or composite (RCA yellow video plug) connections. You will need a separate RCA left/right audio cable for sound.

We are very happy with this little tv. It's in our kitchen, takes very little space on the countertop, is light so it's easy to pivot around depending on if we're sitting at the table or doing dishes, has good strong clear sound, and a bright picture that looks good from any angle. This is our first LCD tv so we can't really say it's better than others, but it's working very nicely for us.

We wanted a small, inexpensive, LCD TV for my home office and, after much research, chose this one. It's as good as we'd hoped it would be -- possibly better. The sound and picture are just fine. Setup is logical, easy, and quick. We were happily surprised to find that it was possible to acquire exactly what we wanted at a price that seemed almost too good to be true. We may even buy a second one for the kitchen!

Great TV!.......2007-06-02

I read other reviews on this web site and decided to buy this television for my kitchen. It replaced a larger TV, but the picture is so bright and clear, you don't care that it is smaller. The stereo speakers put out great sound, too. I would buy another one of these TVs in a heartbeat.

Very pleased with the tv. Really fits anywhere, I have in the bedroom, so light you can place it on the end of the bed if you like. After the set up the picture, sound, audio etc your ready to go. This is my fifth Sharp TV need I say more.

Love this TV. Ordering a pricey electronic item online had me worried, however, I was extremely please with my product. As a note on the product and not the company - it seems best viewed outside of 5 feet. Otherwise you do notice a bit of grain.

Great TV for the price.......2006-03-09

I have been using this tv for the past 3 months in my bedroom and it is great. It is a good looking tv and almost all of the wires connecting to cable, dvd player, etc are hidden. My only complaint is that the buttons on the remote are a tad small and not raised enough that is why i am rating it a 4.5. Other then that it is a great tv and i am considering purchasing another one for my study.

You can get these sets for well under $400 right now as stores work off their stock. The picture is very good and the sound is excellent for this kind of TV. Unlike the large screen LCD, plasma and rear projection DLP/LCOS/LCD world, waiting for the latest update is not going to buy you a whole lot. If you can get your hand on one of these before they are gone, go for it! If you wait, you are going to be spending around $500 for a good 15-inch Sharp LCD.
