Standard TVs (SDTVs) display a maximum of 480 lines using the interlaced scan method, which creates a picture with alternating lines of information. |
| |
|
|
|
Enhanced-definition TVs (EDTVs) display a maximum of 480 lines using the progressive-scan method, which creates an image using consecutive lines of information for a crisp, flicker-free picture. |

|

|
High-definition TVs (HDTVs) display a maximum of either 1,080 interlaced lines or 720 progressively scanned lines for the sharpest possible image. | | |
With a plasma screen you get vivid colors like you've never seen before, extremely wide viewing angles (wider, even, than those of most LCD screens), and easy placement due to a plasma monitor's slim profile--the P60W38 is a mere 3.9 inches deep, perfect for desk or wall mounting (please be aware that both table stand and mounting kit are optional). Brightness tends to be extremely uniform across plasma screens, which are also impervious to the picture distortion and negative color balances that afflict CRT monitors when placed near lighting or sound systems.
The P60W38's 1,280 x 720 resolution produces extremely detailed imagery, while its super-sharp (1,000:1) contrast ratio delivers rich colors and deep blacks. The set's amazingly high (1,000 cd/m2) brightness gives you an incredibly bright picture, even in well-lit areas.
Aspect-ratio correction lets you resize video and computer images to either 16:9 widescreen or 4:3 conventional formats, while Zenith's Intelligent Image Scaling employs a Faroudja/Sage scan converter to seamlessly convert TV video data to PC formats without distortion or cropping of images (in either 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratios).
RS-232 controls and NTSC, HD, VGA, SVGA, XGA, and SXGA inputs makes the unit compatible with DVD players, VCRs, computers, digital broadcasting, multimedia, and traditional video sources.

Customer Reviews:
DO NOT BUY ZENITH !!.......2007-02-16
Prior to buying the TV we had a 27" CRT TV that lasted 19 years. So we decided to buy a new TV since it was getting old. So in 1/17/2004 we bought a 40" Projection TV with a 2 years extended warranty. The TV has been performing great and we have been very happy with it until just last week when we noticed "blue shadows" all over the screen.
After looking over the manual and adjusting the convergence, no success.
To fix this TV outside of its warranty will cost over $1,000 dollars, and with prices on TV's dropping it makes no sense to send it in for repair. It has basically become a disposable TV. We are very disappointed that our TV has only lasted 3 years. I'm sending it to Goodwill.
I'm very disappointed that Zenith will not stand behind their products. My only mistake was not researching Zenith TVs prior to buying since I had full faith in the brand.
I found other people on the internet with the same exact problem !!
I'm sorry to say this was my last Zenith TV.
Better than Expected.......2005-02-26
I have not had a good history with the past Zenith products that I have bought, but I thought I would give this tv a chance. I did, and I am thankful for it. The picture is very clear and the sound is wonderful. I have had it for a couple of months now, and have had no problems with it. I recommed it to anyone who is skeptical about buying it because of the brand.
Good Quality...Bad Brand.......2004-12-03
The reason I bought this TV is that I was moving into my apartment and my 1989 TV was breaking down. I had to take it to six repair shops just to see the picture. I gave that away and I knew that I had to go pricy and get a Plasma TV. I like very big TV's and I knew 60" was the way to go. Sony was the best brand of the choice but their's were for $19,999.99 which is $10,000.00 more than this Zenith. But when I went to Target and got this TV I was suprised that it had good picture quality. Zenith is a horrible brand but this TV they did a good job on. I got BOSE Speakers with it to really pump up the sound too. This is a wonderful TV but if you want a terrifically wonderful TV you have to get the Sony!
This TV is okay..........2004-11-18
I bought this TV from a local electornics store with about the same price. HDTV gives great detail but its almost 2 big for its own good. Most television shows are show in widescreen so bars sit on the sides of your tv while you watch tv. It also has small speakers if you buy this you might need to get other speakers. But other then that is an excellent purchase. Its a little hard to set up but, once its up it good. This wont break down on you at all.

Amazon.com Product Description
Using groundbreaking display technology, Zenith's 60-inch P60W38H high-altitude plasma HDTV delivers superior image clarity, color, and brightness in a panel that's less than 4 inches thick. A very high contrast ratio of 1000:1, brightness measuring 1000 cd/m2, and a wide 160-degree view angle mean this display offers vivid viewing from just about any seat. A thicker display than standard plasmas and other internal components enable this TV for use in high-altitude locations.
The unit's widescreen (16:9) dimensions are perfect for watching DVDs and widescreen TV broadcasts in their native aspect ratios (viewing TV broadcasts requires an external TV tuner such as a VCR and an HDTV decoder). The P60W38H also sports DVI and RGB connections for use as a giant monitor for your computer. Flexible picture-in-picture lets you watch one program in a small window while viewing another. The P60W38H features intelligent image scaling, using a Faroudja/Sage scan converter that seamlessly converts TV video data to PC formats without distortion or cropping of images in either 4:3 or 16:9 formats, and also lets you zoom in with its advanced zoom capabilities.
The display uses both progressive scan and Faroudja DCDi deinterlacing to produce a high-quality image. It packs a native resolution of 1280 x 720p, and can accept NTSC, HD, VGA, SVGA, XGA, and SXGA input signals.
A set of 20-watt (10 watts per channel) speakers are available as optional accessories, or you can connect the unit to your existing audio system. The P60W38H features an audio volume leveler to avoid those loud moments, Closed Captioning when mute is activated, and gradual volume increase for more pleasant transitions from mute. It can play SAP (secondary audio program) audio, when available. The monitor includes a remote control with onscreen equalizer, multilingual menus, and a sleep timer.
A single panel of AV inputs, which Zenith calls the "Jack Pack," lets you connect the display to such inputs as a DVD player, VCR, video game console, or a PC or Macintosh computer. The Jack Pack features high-resolution component-video inputs, S-Video in, composite-video in, and for connection to a computer, both an RGB (15-pin type-D) input and a DVI (Digital Video Interface) jack with HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) copy protection. Also included are two left/right audio inputs--as well as left/right audio out and an RS-232c serial port for connecting external controls.
An optional wall mount or stand are available, and the unit features a built-in shock-absorbing glass damper.
