Panasonic TC-22LT1 22'' Widescreen Flat Panel LCD TV with Built-in Tuner
Product Description
Amazon.com Product Description
The TC-22LT1 offers a flat, 22-inch LCD screen in a widescreen (16:9) dimension that's perfect for viewing DVDs in their native aspect ratios. The set also includes an NTSC tuner, however, letting you view off-air programming right out of the box. This is an EDTV display, which means its image quality is a step closer to high-definition or HDTV than that of standard TVs. When used with a progressive-scan DVD player (or 480p-output DTV set-top box) you'll get seamless, razor-sharp images from your favorite movies and concert videos. Panasonic's Progressive Cinema Scan (3:2 pulldown) even corrects for distortion resulting from 30-frames-per-second DVD encoding of 24 fps movies.
The unit's 854 x 480-pixel resolution is enhanced by a 3D Y/C digital comb filter (which improves resolution by removing blurred edges between colors and reducing dot crawl), a high (400:1) contrast ratio, high peak brightness of 400 candles/square meter, and wide (120 degrees horizontal x 100 degrees vertical) viewing angles.
LCD screens offer a number of benefits over CRT monitors and televisions, including general ease of use, freedom from eye strain (no screen flickering or radiation emissions), quiet operation (no high-pitch "flyback" noise, an issue with CRT TVs), accurate image geometry (no curvature distortion or susceptibility to magnetic interference from, say, speakers), long screen life (no risk of image burn-in), space savings, and light weight/easy positioning. They also tend to be cheaper and, to some eyes, slightly more natural looking than their plasma flat-panel counterparts, which usually "spec" higher (higher brightness, higher contrast ratio).
Panasonic's Active Light Control circuitry automatically detects the brightness levels of the input signal and adjusts the backlight accordingly, enhancing brightness levels for both light and dark scenes. The result is an expanded dynamic range from black to white peak, with crisp, natural pictures that assure dynamic viewing. Active System Control works in tandem with active light control to adjust the video signal according to the image contrast, adding greater brightness to bright scenes and more depth to darker ones. Super DSC (Dynamic Sharpness Control) analyzes each image and minimizes noise in areas of low detail (such as a cloudless sky), while enhancing areas that have greater detail.
For connections, you get two high-resolution component-video inputs (D2/YPBPR conversion cable supplied), two S-video inputs, and two composite-video inputs with stereo RCA analog audio jacks. A stereo headphone jack fosters private listening, and the monitor also offers internal stereo speakers with reflex bass ports and 9 watts per channel (at 10 percent THD).
What's in the Box
LCD TV, card-sized remote control, battery, D2/YPBPR conversion cable, a user's manual, and warranty info.
From the Manufacturer
Combining state-of-the-art liquid crystal display (LCD) technology with ground-breaking design, Panasonic's TC-22LT1 LCD television brings big entertainment to small spaces. At home on a desktop, tabletop or vanity, this compact set offers brilliant, high-resolution digital images in the 16:9 widescreen format. This 22-inch set (diagonal measurement) features two bass-reflex woofers for even greater depth and power, HDMI compatibility (providing high quality, uncompressed digital audio/video signal transmission), a sleep timer, game mode, V-Chip program lock-out, and a remote.
The TC-22LT1 features a 181-channel TV tuner. A built-in progressive scan converter enhances NTSC signals by progressively scanning the television picture. The result is a remarkably sharp and detailed 480p picture, with no visible scan lines.
To maximize picture quality, Panasonic's LCD TVs incorporate several video enhancement features. A 3D Y/C digital comb filter accurately separates color information from black-and-white information, and eliminates dot crawl and hanging dots, both horizontally and vertically.
Like every Panasonic LCD TV model, the TC-22LT1 features a super-bright 16:9 screen. The 16:9 aspect ratio, consistent with the shape of cinema screens as well as the HDTV1 broadcast format, enables viewers to enjoy the full impact of a film as its director originally intended. The screen also accommodates pan and scan or letterbox formats recorded at the 4:3 aspect ratio.
HDMI-HDCP Interface
HDMI is a new standard digital connection between A/V devices, such as a set-top box, DVD player or A/V receiver, and a digital television. HDMI offers exceptional video and audio quality with a single quick-disconnect connector. It supports multi-channel digital audio transmissions and component video color spacing for true rendering of HD video. HDMI supports the HDCP copy protection standard, allowing transmission of copy-protected digital content to your display. The video portion of HDMI is also backwards-compatible with DVI-HDCP devices using an optional cable adapter (part number TY-SCH03DH).
New LCD AI
This is a step further than Panasonic's previous AI technology, using a control method to achieve extraordinarily deep, lifelike images. The new system provides the luminance distribution in real-time and then boosts gradation in the luminance areas containing the greatest number of image elements. The result is outstanding detail, depth, and realism in areas such as the backgrounds behind movie subtitles, and the brightest objects in dark scenes.
New Pixel Controller
Allows new LCD TVs to accept a variety of input signals, and reproduce images with exceptional precision. It also features Aspect Ratio Switching, which allows for clear display of either 4:3 or 16:9 (letterbox) signals. Finally, the new Pixel Controller is compatible with progressive signals, so Panasonic's LCD TVs deliver natural, true-to-life images from DVD players and video game systems with progressive output.
