The PS52800 can display 1080i (interlaced) television signals (1,330,560 pixels) when you combine this television with a PROSCAN PSHD105 HD digital receiver. In addition, with its seven sets of audio and video inputs, the PROSCAN High-Resolution Monitor has much more to offer outside the world of HDTV.
It's the perfect display for your computer, VCR, standard TV broadcasts, video games, and your DVD player--and they can all be connected at the same time! It's what goes on behind the screen that makes this picture incredible.
The PS52800 delivers an incredible picture. The Proscan digital high-resolution monitor is a true Syncroscan display. This gives you professional-quality monitor capability with a system that automatically detects signals with video display requirements from 15.7 to 37.7 kHz. Connecting your computer to the (S)VGA input delivers 480,000 pixels of resolution. The quality picture delivered to your screen can be precision-tuned to your needs with the video and text/graphics modes. These deliver the optimum picture performance whether you are watching a high-definition movie or surfing the Web.
Other video features include:
New Syncroscan component-video inputs: automatically adjust scan rate of component-video inputs (Y-Pr-Pb). Allow for connection of regular or progressive-scan DVD players or component-output HDTV set-top boxes.
New, custom-designed five-element lens system with color correction: provides a brighter picture with improved corner focus and overall video resolution. An integrated thermal focus control ensures accurate pinpoint focus by eliminating heat-related lens movement.
Digital focus: computer-aligned, 10-bit digital circuitry provides precise and consistent picture performance from the moment the TV is turned on. Combined with Dynamic Focus, it maximizes picture brightness with sharper corner focus, ensuring a beautifully detailed picture across the entire screen.
3-D Y/C digital-frame comb filter: the ultimate in color separation, this 3-D filter evaluates both current and future video information, eliminating dot and edge crawl while providing better transitions between scene changes, resulting in a dramatically enhanced picture.
High-gain, dark-tint screen: a new screen design improves brightness by 25 percent while utilizing dark-tint double lenticular and fresnel levels to enhance picture contrast with blacker blacks, brilliant whites, and deep rich colors.
High-performance video amplifier: delivers high resolution and clarity by extending the video frequency response. Optimizes performance from high-resolution sources such as satellite systems, DVD players, and S-video signals (S-VHS, Hi8).
Dynamic Focus: improves corner and edge focus for an overall sharper picture.
Dynamic BlackStretch circuitry: extends black levels in bright scenes to enhance contrast and detail.
Deluxe shielded tuner with 181-channel tuning capability: special shielding dramatically reduces ghosting caused from off-air pick-up when watching cable channels. Digitally controlled frequency-synthesis tuning system locks onto cable and standard signals with unsurpassed accuracy.
High-performance Scan Velocity Modulation (SVM): improved SVM circuitry automatically varies the scanning speed of the picture tube's electron beam to improve sharpness and detail, especially in high-contrast areas.
Adjustable color warmth: customer-selectable color-temperature system lets you adjust the picture's background color balance to your preference. Setting choices are Cool, Warm, or Normal. The Warm setting is the NTSC standard of 6,500 degrees K.
Audio features include:
SRS Focus audio technology: ingenious new technology from SRS Labs. Raises the sound stage to ear level, providing more lifelike audio. Combined with SRS 3D Sound, it creates a fully enveloping "live performance" listening experience from as few as two stereo speakers. Focus is ideally suited for home applications when speakers cannot be placed in optimal locations for either space or aesthetic reasons.
SRS Sound Retrieval System: brings dimensional realism to television audio without the need for additional speakers. Restores the information used to determine distance and direction, turning normal audio into a three-dimensional sensation.
Broadcast stereo with dbx noise reduction: improves the clarity and fidelity of stereo broadcasts by restoring dynamic range and suppressing unwanted noise.
Front-firing speakers: powered by 10 watts per channel. Provide excellent imaging while localizing voices at the screen.
Second Audio Program (SAP): Decodes the second audio program available on some broadcasts.
Connectivity features:
Seven sets of audio/video inputs: three A/V composite-video inputs, each with auto-detectable S-video input; one set of Syncroscan component-video inputs (Y-Pr-Pb) allows for connection of regular- or progressive-scan DVD players or component-output HDTV set-top boxes; two 15-pin D-sub (S)VGA inputs (one supports PC connection with a mini-plug audio jack for PC applications, the other provides connection for an HDTV converter or other high-resolution source component with RCA-type audio jacks); VGA monitor plug-and-play convenience is supported via EDID data reporting through DDC2B protocol; one set of audio/video inputs with USB port located on front panel.
Audio-video outputs: one pair fixed audio outputs (provides constant-level output for recording or for stereo system with its own remote); one pair variable audio outputs (the output audio level changes with TV's remote); one set of selected audio-video outputs; one set of speaker jacks for external speakers.
USB connection system: the monitor/receiver is complete with USB (universal serial bus) connections, which provide connection convenience with the latest USB-compatible PCs. Front- and rear-panel USB jacks allow up to 127 USB peripherals such as game pads, joysticks, keyboards, and digital video cameras to be configured with the monitor.
The PROSCAN PS52800 also includes a universal backlit remote control, model CRK76TCL3. Among other convenience features are:
Auto convergence: the unit will converge all four scan rates with simple press of a remote control button.
Advanced twin tuner picture-in-picture: two built-in, independent tuning systems allow both large-picture and small-picture viewing without the need for a second external source (e.g., a VCR). Includes Move and Swap.
Picture reset: instantly returns picture to factory settings for color, tint, contrast, brightness, and sharpness.
Personal picture settings: favorite settings for each set of inputs can be programmed into memory.
Advanced auto channel search: Auto cable/air switch sets tuner to cable or "off-air" frequencies during initial setup. Then system automatically scans for and locks active channels into channel memory.
Onscreen menu: onscreen displays make it easy to adjust more picture, sound, and convenience features from either the remote control or the TV front-panel.
Interactive setup menu: convenient onscreen menu system automatically steps user through the initial setup procedures.
Channel lockout: simple control lets you restrict the channels your child watches. Restrict Channel 3, 4, or video inputs, and control video games and VCR programs. Lock out channels 1 to 99 all the time or at specific daily times.
Front-panel lockout: completely disables the front-panel controls to prevent toddlers from altering settings.
Channel labeling: Assign onscreen characters to easily identify channels (e.g., NBC, HBO, ESPN, VH-1).
V-chip parental control: puts control back into your hands by blocking unwanted television broadcasts using new U.S. government-required circuitry. It can block three types of programs: regular television programs, broadcast movies, and unrated programs. Program rating information is sent by the broadcaster continuously during the program. The television will match program ratings to user preferences and block entire programs (when programs are aired with the encoded signal). User preference is secured using a four-digit password.
