Get the sharpest and clearest images possible from both HD and standard television programming and your favorite DVD movies with the technologically advanced 62-inch Toshiba 62HMX95 Cinema Series DLP projection TV with network connectivity to your PC. Vivid imagery and vibrant colors will pop off the screen, thanks to the integrated Texas Instruments' HD2+ chip, which enables a much higher contrast ratio along with a more consistent picture than other DLP chips due to filled-in mirror "vias" in the center of each pixel. This set has a built-in analog/digital/digital cable tuners (NTSC/ATSC/QAM) that will receive free over-the-air HDTV signals (ATSC) and HDTV signals from a cable connection (QAM). It's also Digital Cable Ready (via the CableCard slot), so you can enjoy digital cable without an additional box or remote using an optional CableCard. It also comes with TV Guide On Screen and Toshiba's innovative Channel Browser "back" button feature--similar to a PC browser back button--that allows easy access to recently viewed channels.

DLP (which stands for Digital Light Processing) uses an optical semiconductor to recreate source material with a fidelity analog systems can't match. While other technologies lose a certain amount of light in transit, the microscopic mirrors in a DLP projection system bring more light from lamp to screen. It also features better color uniformity over time--no burn-in, screen aging or color-shifting possible. It's the leading display technology for products like small portable conference room projectors and professional venue entertainment systems.

The technology at the center of the 62HM95 is the new Toshiba Digital Light Engine named Talen X, which utilizes Texas Instruments' xHD4 chip, advanced optics, and Toshiba's DEEP Picture and Xtreme BLAC technologies to provide high resolution with improved brightness and contrast. It also includes the new PixelPure AT Digital Video Processing, utilizing new Adaptive Technology to create further improved picture quality, the new Radiance 150 Hi-Bright Lamp for noticeably brighter images and a TheaterFine DFP Screen with anti-glare coating that results in increased detail and noticeably deeper blacks.

The PixelPure AT digital video processor offers motion adaptive de-interlacing, adaptive MPEG processing, and adaptive contrast and color enhancement for a consistently high picture quality. The 3D Y/C digital comb filter (4 MB, 10-Bit) constantly analyzes the three dimensions of picture height, picture width, and picture changes-over-time, to reduce dramatically edge image artifacts while improving transition detail.

The 62HM95 also includes include THINC (Toshiba Home Interactive Network Connection) home entertainment networking, which allows you to connect the TV to your PC and play MP3 audio files and JPEG pictures using only the TV remote. The TheaterNet Control System simplifies the control of external components through both an IR jack and Firewire (IEEE1394) port, the latter of which can be used to transmit digital video and audio and allow for recording of HDTV. This set also includes a built-in OmniViewer memory card slot, which is compatible with a wide variety of popular formats--Secure Digital (SD), MultiMedia (MMC), Memory Stick, Compact Flash, and Smart Media--enabling you to view photo slideshows directly from your digital camera's memory card.

Perfect for viewing high-definition content and your favorite widescreen movies, this set offers a 16:9 aspect ratio and 1280 x 720-pixel resolution. Other features include both picture-in-picture (PIP) and picture-on-picture (POP) capabilities, tri-lingual on-screen menus (English, French, Spanish), channel labeling, channel return, channel browse, favorite channel, and V-Chip parental controls.

The 40-watt stereo audio system (two 20-watt speakers) delivers ample sound for sports and movies. It features the following video and audio connections:

HDMI -- HDMI makes an uncompressed digital RGB connection from the source to the screen. By eliminating conversion to an analog signal, it delivers an unblemished image. The non-degraded signal reduces flicker and leads to a clearer picture. HDMI intelligently communicates the highest output resolution with the source device. The HDMI input is fully backward compatible with DVI sources but includes digital audio. HDMI uses HDCP copy protection.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Anyone thats seen it says OMG!!!!.......2007-03-25

I've owned this TV now for about 6 months and spent almost 3 months researching large screen TV's and got this for a steal, the TV, stand and a Symbio including inside delivery for just under $2000

The quality of the picture on most channels (none-HD) are great, but if the channel isn't clear, you'll notice the distortion a lot more than on a smaller set. The sound quality for me is great. I have an older pioneer surround and find the sound is sometimes better from the TV alone. Unless I'm really in the mood for theater sound, the internal speakers are my #1 choice.

I had originally hoped to be able to keep up with my shows while I worked on the computer by using the split screen feature, 2 31" screens would have been sweet but I soon found out the split screen feature has a lot of short comings, and using the PC in a window is one of them... So is using the split screen on two devices that requires the tuner. I have both cable and satelite and ended up moving the satelite to the AV inputs to work around the problem and connected an HD ant to the second coax input. Another 'issue' i have is not so much with the TV itself but with it's operation with the Symbio - related once again to the single tuner. If you want to use it like the old VCR's where you can watch one show and record another, forget it, the Toshiba changes the channel and starts recording, at this time most functions are locked out until recording stops.

I had to make a call to Toshiba when the TV guide stopped working, i was surprised and pleased to be able to talk with someone based in the US that spoke english. The tech was friendly and helpfull and worked out my problem within about 20 minutes and also found the bios on my set was a few revisions behind and sent me and update (which corrected a few of the networking issues the TV had).

A few features that I didn't find out until I started going through the menus was the ability to program the TV via email and play MP3's and display photos from a network server. They also have short comings in that if you play MP3's, thats all it does, theres no way to play the MP3's and display the photos at the same time, no big loss but not much thought put into the design of it.

If the ability to view the computer at the same time you watch another source worked I would say this is one set I would buy again no questions asked.

5 out of 5 stars Toshiba 62" DLP TV.......2006-10-04

Bought this TV a few months ago. Have been very pleased with it so far. Excellent picture quality for both DVDs and HD TV. I get the HD TV signal from a Terk antenna - it is fun to watch the games on this TV.

The speakers are great. Connect it to a signal upping DVD player and a 5.1 (we have 7.1) speaker system, you may soon forget going to the movie theaters!

This model has the best looks among the available large screen TVs. Buy with a matching stand to further enhance the looks.

Tons of input/output connections available at the back and the front/side.

We love it.
