Toshiba TVs are not reliable........2005-06-24

I purchased a Toshiba HDTV and had it fail just after the 2 year warranty expired. Toshiba explained there was nothing they would do back up their product. No TV should fail after 2 years. I recommend selecting another brand, you can get the same performance and price, and end up with a more reliable product.

Excellent TV, Very Good Bargain........2005-01-27

I recently purchased this Toshiba 30 HFX 84 model and am very pleased with the results. Mind you, this is not a Plasma or a Lcd set which are known to have better picture quality than the tube type TV. Because of my arrangements this was really the best choice for me. If you have the extra room and the money those are the types of sets you should look for. When I first read some of the reviews about the other Toshiba sets I was a little aprehensive. But all that worry was for nothing. I just subscribed to the Voom satellite service and WOW!!!!! The picture quality just blew me away! Good heavy contrasts (Deep Blacks not Greys which when you are watching high definition is essential to a good picture), sharp detail and great color. Even the standard definition stations look excellent. If you have a entertainment center and you're wondering if the set will fit, relax. It fits just fine. The speakers are located at the bottom of the set instead of the sides. The surround sound with the TV speakers is good, but the best bet is to connect the audio to your surround sound system for full effect. HD tv is broadcast with 5.1 Dolby Digital surround sound so this is a must. Connections are easy and the set is all ready for viewing. One big drawback, however. The TV weighs a ton!!! Other than that, if you are on a budget and you are looking for a good widescreen picture (16x9) and you are ready for High Definition then I highly recommend this Toshiba 30 inch set.
