Customer Reviews:
A trusty well-designed and equipped MP3 player........2006-04-19
I received this item as a surprise birthday gift a few years ago when it first came out. It was stolen from my vehicle about a month later but I liked it enough to go right back out and buy another. The sound from this small device is excellent, if not amazing. It comes packaged in a tubular case with every sort of portability attachment you could think of or need; shoulder strap, belt clip, and wrist strap.
The headphone wires are designed so as to eliminate any chance a sudden movement will pull the earbuds out of the ears.
The design and features of the player itself is aesthetically pleasing. Little things like the ability to customize the font style and on screen logo give you an idea of the amount of thought that was put into every little detail and option.
Though the storage capacity by today's standards is small, for most people, including runners or anybody working out, it's more than sufficient. I consistently fit 16 songs at 256kbps per second, which is twice as good of sound as 128kbps songs.
The only drawback in my experience was the initial sluggishness of the software provided to get the songs onto the device. After a few uses though, you get used to how it is designed and it takes only a few clicks to build or save or recall playlists and transfer them to the player.
Overall, this was and still is an outstanding device, model, and mp3 player. I still prefer it to just about any other device and design I've seen since (a span of 5 years).
An excellent MP3 player, even after ownership for 4 years.......2005-12-03
I purchased this device 4-5 years ago when these things were all the craze, and it was very expensive at the time. Of course, that's what happens with all new technology...
Anyway, it still works, unlike some Ipods of today. I've used it very frequently for the past several years, during fixing the car, painting the house, working out, daily commute, etc. and the player has not skipped a beat or died. I've probably dropped it more than a few times as a testament to its durability. The software, I have no idea what people are complaining about. It's perfectly functional and I have Windows XP sp2, and if you run into problems you can always go to Samsung's website to download another version. Sound quality is great; I find all the "normal" modes in the EQ to be too 'tinny' sounding and too much treble, so whether I'm listening to classical or heavy metal, I still put Jazz-DBB for the best balance of the equalizer. The design is simple yet classy, and the yepp is tiny - smaller than most MP3 players. Song transfer rates are acceptable.
It is of course, not flawless. 128MB is not enough for anybody nowadays, and at "acceptable" bitrates I can only get about 25 songs in. The earphones blow. There is no support for other files (ie WMA... you can easily convert MP3 to WMA anyway). And you can only organize songs on the PC, so make sure they're in an order you like.
Still, it's an excellent, balanced player that you can prboably find for cheap used, or some leftover stocks. Highly recommended for a lower budget.
Korean can't make mp3.......2004-02-29
I bought it and 3 hrs later I decided to return it. Why?
- It was easy to install the software into my computer, however cannot find the program that can transfer the file from computer to mp3, the program that was install in there was how to format.
- No FM radio (well I know this when I first look at it)
- The piece is small, but seem so fragile, felt like you can crash it by just holding it tight.
- The design was good thou, small and convinent
- Made my computer crashed, after installing the software
- Not user friendly
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.......2004-02-10
Bought the Yepp player today. Got it home, had trouble installing the drivers and once they were installed, the device slowed my computer's performance GREATLY. Then had to call technical support to get help transferring files over. Had to "Copy" then "Paste" every single mp3 file to the player. I removed the player from the USB port and went to turn it on and it would not! A fresh battery did not solve this problem. Called tech support again and they told me to return the item to where I bought it--said it was "defective" and did not act surprised about it. DO NOT BUY THE SAMSUNG YEPP MP3 PLAYER!!!!!
What a piece of crap!.......2004-01-10
Had it one day and made three calls to tech support- wouldn't take files- wouldn't do anything! Kept playing REM while not even in loop!
