The sleek and stylish Machspeed Trio digital audio player provides skip-free playback, thanks to its 256 MB of flash memory. It's also a multitasker, providing an integrated microphone for voice recording (great for short reminders or capturing lectures) and USB mass storage capability (for backing up and transferring files from one PC to another). It features a backlit LED screen for viewing song information, and it has three preset animations (for welcome/goodbye) that you can choose from, as well as English and Simple/Traditional Chinese language display.

This player is compatible with MP3, WMA, ASF, and WAV files, but is not compatible with protected WMA files from online stores or subscription services. The 256 MB memory will store approximately 4 hours of CD-quality MP3 tracks (encoded at 128 kbps) or 8 hours of WMA tracks (at 64 kbps). It features 7 preset equalizer tones--normal , rock, pop, classic, soft, jazz, bass--and a variety of play modes, including repeat one, repeat all, play folder, and random. It connects to PCs via a USB 2.0 connection, and is compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems. Don't expect to ever receive your rebate.......2006-02-21

I bought two of these units from different retailers in September. I have yet to receive a rebate, and customer service hasn't reponded to either of my Help Desk tickets since December.

The AR price for this unit is great, but I never would have bought these pieces of junk had I suspected that the rebate wouldn't have come through.

Then again, that's the risk you take with rebates. Most people would say "I told ya so".

The MP3 players themselves are really chinzy -- cheap construction, limited functionality.

I bought this for my 12 year old son. He wanted a player and needed a USB drive, and I wasn't sure how much he'd use one. Consider it a decent starter player, with lots of features, but don't consider it a value even with a $25 rebate. I have never seen such a useless and poorly written manual in my lifetime of buying Japanese, then Korean or Chinese inept translations. It likes to power down if the battery is used at all. I paid $30 with rebates and feel like they did not go to enough trouble to take my money. Having said that, with a fresh battery and everything working, my son totally loves it.

I purchased this items for my teenage daughter. I thought it would be nice to combine the MP3 player along with the flash drive that she needed for school. The display screen cracked within the first week. The device is larger that I thought it was going to be based on the pictures. With the rebates it was still a good price for the item.
