JVC PCX560BK Boombox
Product Description
Amazon.com Review
You can load JVC's PC-X560BK portable stereo system with batteries and carry it by its built-in handle or you can set it up at home, detach the speakers for better stereo separation, and plug the it into your wall. Either way, the PC-X560BK will provide you with plenty of musical pleasure at a highly affordable price.
The PC-X560BK is easy and intuitive to operate. You only need to attach the speaker wires to the clips on the back of the main unit, flip the power switch, and load your CD or tape. JVC's Compu-Play gives you one-touch access to music from the remote control or the front panel.
The PC-X560BK's sound is big and full, though the high frequencies are quite "soft," or diminished. On the other hand, you can tweak the balance with one of three preprogrammed EQ settings: Beat (boosts the bass); Pop (boosts the highs and the bass); or Clear (boosts only the highs). And if you want even more bass, you can engage JVC's Active-Hyper Bass Pro.
The JVC PC-X560BK may be a bit hefty to tote around for very long. But it has just enough features (we loved the remote for home use) and good enough sound to make it a more than a worthy contender for a music source in this price range.
Pros:
Big sound
1-touch recording
Remote control
Cons:
Heavy when batteries are loaded
High frequencies are a little dull
