The RQ-SW44V black AM/FM personal Shockwave cassette player is no exception. Rugged enough to withstand shock and vibration, the RQ-SW44V incorporates a water-resistant design with a rubber-cushioned body, dual hinges, an antirolling mechanism, and a twist lock that keeps the lid in place.
The AM/FM digital tuner has a 20-station memory (10 AM and 10 FM) and provides clear reception in city or rural surroundings. Auto-reverse playback is a great touch for those who may be too busy working out to bother with buttons. XBS (extra bass system) is available as well.
A single AA battery will power the RQSW44V for up to 25 hours, and this model comes with four batteries included. Added attractions are the large LCD display and a lap function that beeps at regular intervals when the tape or radio is playing. Shockwave lightweight headphones and a detachable belt clip are included.

The RQ-SW44VK is equipped with a Digital Synthesizer tuner with 20 station presets, enabling the user to store 5 AM and 5 FM in each of two modes. This makes this model perfect for frequent travelers, since one group can be reserved for out-of-town stations. A selectable AM frequency step (9kHz/10kHz) allows users to tune into their favorite stations while in any country. For extra clear reception, a Normal/City FM reception selector is included. And, Panasonic's XBS Extra Bass System lets users enjoy rich, robust sound particularly in the low frequencies. For easy operation a large animation display, five preset keys, a battery checker and a lap function (similar to a stopwatch) with five timer settings are provided. My new Shockwave has survived several bumps and crashes with no ill effects. It has digital tuning with prerecorded stations (what a bonus, definite time and emotional energy savings here.) The volume dial is not easuly bumped and the belt clip is easily removable.
The only annoyance is that when you turn the radio on it tunes into AM first (you have to press the button a second tiem to go to FM) and I never listen to AM. This is not a big problem.
The shockwave is a rugged piece of equipment with some great bonus features. I recommend it highly.
