Sony Cassette Player.......2007-06-18

I have been a Sony junkie all of my life. Every cassette player I bought from the stationary styles to the Walkmans and even their CD players have all been top knotch quality. I even will not ever get a computer that is not a Sony Vaio the one I have now is a Vaio and all of these have made Sony proud. So that is why I got this player. But when I went to use it it was not (in my opinion) Sony quality. It has a very low tone quality and the casing is not good.

In General the product is good for a good price,but because of the small batteries it uses,the listening time is shorter.

I bought this tape player with a very specific purpose in mind. I am a criminal defense attorney and the majority of the recordings provided to us by the court or the prosecution come on tapes. I needed something to play the tapes in my office and occasionally in court. It had to be compact enough to fit in my briefcase, loud enough and clear enough to play in court, and had to have a counter so I could key sections of a transcript to a tape and easily locate the bits I wanted to play during a hearing. This little machine was cheap, and it does all that.

I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 because of one small issue. If you use headphones it only plays through one ear. Not a big deal, except it means headphones do nothing to improve the sound quality of a poor recording.

An essential playback feature is the playback speed control. With this adjustment, you can adjust the speed between thirty percent of normal and negative fifteen percent of normal. If you find yourself fighting to hear the cassette player via the built-in speaker, plug earphones into the recorder and your troubles will be lessened. This was a gift for my nephew.He wanted a small cassette recorder to tape music off of websites of radio stations not in our area.He said the quality is great.You can slow down the music or make it faster according to how you want to listen to it.It was a good deal for the money.Highly recommend!

I bought this model on clearance a month or so ago. Its nice, and I like the mic in port which allows me to capture audio from a TV, Palm Pilot, or other source. Or even it allows me to copy tapes from my micro cassette recorder.

Although the unit is a bit bulky and clunky and definitely not one of the newer digital recorders, its a good starter unit, and has its advantages.

I am involved in a legal matter at this time, and I used this recorder to copy a micro cassette tape and have sent that tape to the DFEH to aid the investigation.

The problems with digitals is that when the battery dies, so does your audio files. Not so with tape.

I've bought it for my mom and tested it for some weeks before I send it to her. Overall It was great buy. I didn't have any music cassette tape so I put in blank tape and record some voices and the quality was fine. Ofcourse It wasn't digital recorder so It has some constant noice of tape running but sound quality was great. It was far better than those in the mp3 player's built in mic recorder. You can adjust the speed of a tape and make some funny sound like cartoony voice. Only concirn is it doesn't have auto stop or auto-reverse so always do it by manually.

The little recorder/player comes with a mic and headphones. I bought it to transfer a lot of old tapes onto my computer. It does not have any professional features like precision editing, but it does have a nice variable speed control for playback, which is helpful to compensate some of the old tapes that were recorded off-speed.

Good stereo sound -- built-in mike would help.......2007-01-10

I exchange audio letters with friends, and this stereo recorder was purchased after my Sony 100 DVS died and no replacement parts were available. The sound quality is perfectly fine, though it does not pick up ambient sounds nearly as well as the old high-end machine. It comes with a stereo microphone, but it would be great if the microphone were attached to the unit -- as it is, there is a long clip-on cord. This makes it tough to do "off-the-cuff" recording. Overall, a good value for the money. The other machine cost nearly $300.

I got what I wanted.......2006-11-10

I've been wanting one of these for years. It is so very handy as I can take it with me to any room or to my vehicle, as we only have a CD player in it. I listen to a lot of tapes and my regular tape deck just wasn't cutting it. Thank you for still carrying a tape player that I don't have to wear head phones to!

Great Little Recorder.......2006-06-07

I've had this recorder for over a year & use it every week. I use it to record chorus & voice rehearsals& it works great. I always use the stereo mic that was supplied with the unit. I used 2 separate recorderes to record one of my voice lessons & this one worked just as well as my larger, more expensive cassette recorder. For non-professional use, this little recorder is great.

It's clumsy, cumbersome, not great quality, and a bad idea. In addition to that, mine will no longer work after very limited use. Wish I could get my money back.

Useless.......2003-05-18

As soon as I finish transcribing what I can from the 90% inaudible mumbles I recorded with my Sony TC-M20DV cassette recorder, I am looking forward to smashing this useless piece of junk with a large hammer. I will never buy economy recording equipment again, because you get what you pay for.

Not practical for all applications.......2003-02-02

I bought this recorder for heavy field use in journalism. My first problem was the voice activated recording. If you turn it off, then the recording is muddy.
Second the motor is not very strong. Almost all the tapes I used - that work correctly in other machines - would lock up the motor.
I was very disappointed in the motor that couldn't pull a rewind on a 90-minute cassette.

Beware of this recorder!!

Simple yet Perfect for a student.......2002-03-04

I bought this recorder for school and it has been just perfect. It allows you to use a 90 minute tape for 180 minutes due to its double recording time function. It's an excellent buy and highly worth the money. It makes it easy for me to study because I can just play the tapes in my car or while I'm walking around. I highly recommend it!!!
