Does the job.......2007-06-18

I had not done an MP3 player yet. I have a 400 disk CD player and didn't see the point. This one finally made me make the plunge. Like a few other posters, I spend considerable time on the road and in airports, so listening to talk shows on-demand was very appealing. Plus, this is the only MP3 player that I could find with AM radio. I ordered it from Amazon with free shipping. It arrived in two days. Outstanding.

I had it running in a few minutes. I did not need to look at the instructions. Unfortunately, Amazon only sells the 128MB version, so I quickly identified that I needed to get an expansion card. A few of the reviews on this site mention that the 2 GB card works fine, so that is what I bought. Note that I discovered the card needs to be formatted via a computer connection with FAT protocol (another poster says FAT 32, which made my unit crash).

Here is the bottom line: I now can record talk shows throughout the week to carry them with me. I also have hundreds of songs that can be played and still have a full GB for other things. It functions as a digital voice recorder, so I can record reminders to myself. I am only using the internal memory for new albums - the memory card for recordings and songs.

Regarding concerns from other reviews: (1) the reception is fine for local stations (2) it plays MP3, WAV and RVF files (2) it appears on the computer as a new drive, so loading songs is drag & drop.

Great unit. I would have given it five stars, but I haven't had it long enough to vouch for its long-term quality.

Great concept, poor reception........2007-06-14

The Pogo Radio Your Way is a brilliant idea. Sort of like Tivo for radio. The unfortunate problem is...the radio has poor reception. Even the 50,000 watt stations on AM were filled with static. Recording static-filled radio is not my idea of fun. Returned for a refund. Disappointed. Not worth $179.00.

Love this product. The AM radio is not great but works ok especially with a strong station; however, I use an external radio with a head-phone output and the unit's line/mic input and it works great. Now I can record "El Rushbo" for later enjoyment. The 2 gb SD card works fine.

One of My Favorite Gadgets.......2007-06-03

I had the first version of the RYW, and this one is 100 percent better. With a rechareable battery, 1 Gig of SD memory and the internal memory, you can record about 40 hours of your favorite radio programs. I'm a road warrior about 10 days a month and take this with me to listen to my favorite radio programs (The Ticket..Dunham and Miller 1310/104.1 that I don't have time to listen to when I'm at home. The best part is you can fast forward past the parts you don't especially like. I use mine mostly in the car and use an RF adapter to play through the car's FM radio. Some gadgets you use a few times and then goes in a drawer, this one gets consistent use.

Regrettably, this product did not work for us. It is a very good way to record favorite radio programs, but the range of coverage was minimal limiting the use for us. We were wanting to record programs from an AM radio station 100 miles from here and we could not get the reception. Therefore, I returned the radio/recorder.
