The key feature of the Panasonic SL-J600V CD player is the included twin tower speakers that come in the package. These speakers are attached to the docking station, which also acts a battery charging system. This type of docking station and speaker system is perfect for dorm rooms or offices. Simply insert the CD player into the docking station, connect the player to the speakers, and plug the docking station to a power source via the AC adaptor. Remember that these speakers do not have magnetic shielding, so keep them away from televisions, computers and other items that might be affected by magnetism.

The CD player plays audio CDs, CD-R/RW and MP3 CDs. Additionally, the SL-J600V receives FM/AM radio. The FM/AM radio contains thirty presets, allowing for individual settings. With the S-XBS bass boost system, sound quality is improved. There is also a preset equalizer to keep the sounds properly balanced. While no batteries are included in the package, there are many options to keep the player running. The base station will automatically recharge optional rechargeable batteries. The player also runs on two AA alkaline batteries, or through the included AC adaptor. Play time ranges from thirty-five hours (alkaline) to fourteen hours (rechargeable).

To further enhance the versatility of the CD player, Panasonic has included a solid anti-skip system. The player offers a couple of anti-skip options. With the ten second anti-skip option the sound quality is at a premium. For normal sound quality, and better anti-skip protection, use the forty-five second option. For MP3 playing, the anti-skip protection is set at 100 seconds.
