The Coby MP-CD500 is a portable CD/MP3 player which will play audio CDs, CD-R/RW discs and MP3 files. The player runs on two AA batteries. With the low battery alert, keeping ahead of run-down batteries is a cinch. With the forty second anti-skip protection, the MP-CD500 is a good choice for runners and walkers. The anti-shock system also might interest users who will use the player in conjunction with a vehicle's cassette player. Coby has integrated a Dynamic Bass Boost System to enhance the overall listening experience, thus helping counter the tendency of headphones to run bass-low. The sixty-four track programmable memory will allow a listener to individualize a MP3-formatted CD, perfect for an extra hard workout. Additionally, if you connect the player to a stereo, the sixty-four programmed tracks will keep you listening for quite a few hours. With the included AC adapter it is possible to charge rechargeable batteries (not included) automatically. Now it refuses to play almost any CD I put in it. When it works, it occasionally has highly distorted output, will get confused in the middle of a disc or will just switch off.
It's pretty much unuseable now.
So I go the Coby web page figuring it's still within a year of purchase, only to learn that after three months you're on your own.
