Product Description
Amazon.com Product Description
The JVC XL-PV700 is a portable CD player which will play audio CDs, plus CD-R discs. The player's anti-skip system is JVC's advanced triple shock protection (version 3.0) system. This feature is a technological advancement over traditional anti-shock systems, and offers forty seconds of memory. This makes the player a nice choice for people who like to listen to their favorite CDs while exercising or while commuting on the bus. Complimenting this anti-shock system is the included car kit accessories. With the PV700 you receive a cassette adaptor and car cigarette lighter DC adaptor. Combine this car kit with the forty seconds of anti-shock protection and you have a solid CD player for the car or truck.
Yet, even without the optional accessories, the player is a nice choice for portable listening. The player is made to be stowed in thin places; the player's footprint is ultra-compact. There are four play mode options, including normal play, repeat, random, and twenty-four track program. With the in-line, 3-key headphone remote control, it is possible to take care of important player functions while away from the player. The overhead style headphones are comfortable and streamlined. With the included AC adaptor and rechargeable batteries, this player is ready to save you money on buying regular alkaline batteries. It only takes one and a half hours to recharge the batteries. The PV700 also comes with an external battery pack, offering even more battery power. Using this pack, you can expect up to forty-eight hour of continuos play. Assisting you in saving battery life, the auto power-off feature turns the player off when not in use after a certain amount of time. Sound quality is much improved with the hyper-bass and "live sound" sound systems. Other features include: digital optical output, hold switch, 1-bit D/A converter, DC input and heat-resistant casing.

Customer Reviews:
It's decent, but has significant flaws.......2000-01-20
Now the bad things: -When the power source changes, it stops playing. In other words, if it's playing from batteries, and you plug it in, it stops. Or if it's in your car, and you start the engine, it stops. -When you start it and it's in resume mode, it resumes at the beginning of the song, or sometimes the beginning of the next song. STUPID! it should resume where it left off. When I start my car or plug in the CD player, I don't want to start at the beginning of the song. -When it does skip, and fortunately this is rare, it stops playing and says "sorry". Great, it's "sorry". I want to hear music! It should just skip when it gets to the end of the memory, like my Sony did, and then continue playing when it can. -The cigarette lighter adaptor keeps coming out of the socket. This is annoying because I don't notice it and hit "play" anyway, and it just starts playing from batteries. Then, somewhere along the line, it runs out of batteries. Or, I finally notice it, plug the thing in, and it stops playing. AAAACK!
So, I'm not entirely pleased. But hey, it plays the CD's and I guess I'll live with it.
