The JVC XL-PM20 is a portable CD player which will play audio CDs, CD-R/RW discs, and MP3 encoded discs. The player's anti-skip system provides forty seconds of memory. This makes the player a nice choice for people who like to listen to their favorite CDs while exercising or while commuting on the bus. If you decide to purchase a few key optional accessories, this player could be used in a vehicle's cassette player; the silver color would certainly compliment any color of interior.
Yet, even without the optional accessories, the player is a nice choice for portable listening. The player is made to be stowed in thin places; the player's footprint is ultra-compact. There are four play mode options, including normal play, repeat, random, and twenty-track program. With the in-line, 3-key headphone remote control, it is possible to take care of important player functions while away from the player. The overhead style headphones are comfortable and streamlined. The included AC adaptor and external battery pack allow this player to be powered by a variety of sources. To assist you in saving battery life, the auto power-off feature turns the player off when not in use after a certain amount of time. Really good, really simple, really sturdy.......2004-03-12
The display is large and clear, and even I, with my bad eyesight, can see everything without problems.
Even though there appears to be no resume function, the forward and reverse buttons work so rapidly that it's easy to get back where you left off.
The only equalization available is "Hyper bass", but this one doesn't seem to need any; the sound is loud and clear through a set of high-quality headphones.
Mention of the aluminum lid doesn't do this thing enough justice; I've looked at and tried a *lot* of these MP3 CD players, and this one feels sturdier than all the others. The IRiver SlimX 350 may be just as sturdy, but the JVC has a really hefty, army-tank feel to it.
I was looking for something to replace my dying TDK Mojo 620. These MP3 CD players all have different features and different trade-offs, but if I had to start over again, I'd pick the JVC XLPM20 as the overall best replacement for the MOJO.
