The SLCT476J is one of Panasonic's newly designed ultrathin, lightweight CD players for ultimate comfort while jogging or walking. It comes with a soft case and jogging belt. It also has a heat-resistant polycarbonate body that protects the system from vibration. The most important improvement in this model is the Anti-Shock Memory System 4.0. This feature reduces skips before they even get to the memory buffer. It has an improved set of error-correction chips offering +100 percent and -75 percent error correction. It uses a digital servo technology in conjunction with a lighter and faster spindle motor that offers fast retracking speed.

The SLCT476J has a slide lock to open the top cover, and a heat-resistant polycarbonate body. For the discerning listener, Panasonic has added three preset equalizers. There is a normal setting for regular listening, a Super Extra Bass System, and a live option for more spacious, 3-D sound.

Its assortment of features includes bass boost, programming of up to 24 tracks, a built-in battery recharger, long battery life, repeat one and all tracks, skip and search, and memory and recall keys, as well as a power-saving auto power-off button and "hold" switch. This model includes adjustable headphones, an AC adapter, 2 AAA rechargeable batteries, and a soft case for jogging or walking.

The player is very thin and plays great sound, but is not a jogging unit. The CD skips constantly and I have to hold it in my hand while jogging to prevent it. The jogging pack is also a waste as the belt is elastic so you can't get a tight fit around your waist. In addition, the headphones are the cheapest you can find and must be replaced as soon as you buy the package. All in all, this unit may work for someone who wants to sit on a plane and listen to music, but not for active people who move around a lot. VERY CHEAP IN EVERY WAY!!!! DON'T BUY

I am returning this unit. The volume was not very loud, it skipped even with the a-shock on, the hand remote bounces around your chest when you run, and it comes with too many attachments and buttons that add complexity but little value. I went to Best Buy to buy another headset but after listening to several units ended up buying a sony sport model that u can hold in your hand. Same price, much better skip protection, much louder, more sturdy and water-resistant. If your going to be jogging I would not buy the Panasonic as it is fragile in comparison.

This CD player has got to be the best player ever! This thing is super light, very sleek and stylish looking, and NEVER skips. I have ran around shaking the player for a minute and it never skipped once! THe only time it skips is when u really hit the cover hard and it skips only becuase the disc hits the player itself. The rechargable batteries are a very nice addition. Other reviews say that the batteries take about 3 hours to recharge...FALSE! The first time i had to recharge, it only took about 12 minutes! The sound on this player is amazing! The volume gets incredibly loud and the headphones are very good (tho i bought another set just cuz I didn't like the traditional headphones look). My only gripe is the remote is VERY small and i lost mine already ... so be careful to remember where u put it. Other wise, GREAT PLAYER AND I RECOMMEND IT!

P.S. If you want that Sony ultra thin player and think its better because the price is higher...don't get it! This player is the same width as the Sony one (.75 inches high)!

Great no skip CD Player.......2000-06-18

I have been looking everywhere for a CD player that can withstand a long jog. A lot of players out there have great anti-skip devices, but when you couple it with this great jogger belt it makes unprecedented quality for on the road or on the trail use. The remote adds a great gadget factor too! It's a great gift for that active dad or grad, and an even better gift for yourself. This is a deal!
