Coby CX-9 Mini Digital AM/FM Pocket Radio with Neck Strap, Black

Product Description
Amazon.com Product Description
The great thing about pocket radios is that--unlike CD players or MP3 players--they don't house sensitive electronics or require tons of built-in storage space. As such, they can be extremely small and lightweight, and you don't need to fret should you accidentally drop one while working out. This mini radio from Coby is a perfect example, as its petite housing (it measures 1.75 by 4.12 by 0.75 inches) can slip unnoticed in a pocket or hang lightly from around your neck, while still delivering the satisfying sound you demand in a radio. The CX-9 also features an accurate digital tuner that keeps its signal regardless of how much it's jostled, along with a number of station presets for quick and easy channel scanning. And to give the sound a little more punch, Coby added a Dynamic Bass Boost System (DBBS). The combined features make the radio a good choice for any activity in which a CD player or MP3 player might prove too bulky or vulnerable. And it's cheaper, too.

Additional features include an LED power on/off indicator, a built-in belt clip, a neck strap, and a pair of lightweight stereo earphones. The radio requires two AAA batteries and is backed by a 90-day warranty.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Worth the money.......2007-05-16

For an inexpensive item, it does what it is supposed to do. I particularly ordered it because of the neck strap and it works. However I had to substitute a different pair of ear phones as I couldn't get the included ones in my ear, too big.

1 out of 5 stars Looks good, doesn't work.......2007-03-11

I only gave it 1 star, because there isn't a 0 star selection. The product arrived and does not work. Totally dead. Don't waste your time on it.

3 out of 5 stars Nice features, cheap construction, heavy.......2007-01-14

Construction on this radio is a little cheap; clear plastic panel is glued on, and the glue is visibly failing after just a few months' use. Would be nice, too, if it were powered by one AAA battery (like Sony's competing SFR-M37V) instead of the heavier 2-AA battery combo.

The buttons' feature set is impressive, including the ability to cycle among preset stations or seek the next tunable station. But because all the buttons feel alike, it's difficult to operate without taking it out of a pocket -- a big downside for those who change channels frequently, particularly during a walk or a workout.

3 out of 5 stars Cheap.......2006-11-14

Not very well made, but for the price I can't complain. It won't last long.

1 out of 5 stars Reception bad -- even in urban areas.......2006-09-13

I bought this radio thinking, "Hey, I live in the Bay Area. I shouldn't experience the reception problems that users in rural areas have reported." Unfortunately, I was wrong. I was just looking for a simple radio to use while running but this isn't it. I typically listen to NPR so it's not like my fidelity standards are high, but the static and the inability to get a clear signal was just too much. I supposed I got what I paid for -- and now I'm going to go pay more for something I'm acually willing to listen to.
