100% Failure Record For Me.......2007-06-29

I have been using Sony Cd-Rs for years now without any problems. However, when I stumbled across some very bad reviews of Sony here on Amazon, I decided to give Memorex disks a try when I saw them on sale.

Boy, I should have listened to myself when I said I was going to stick with Sony. Not one of the Memorex CD-Rs would burn. I went through about 5 in a row. Not one! The minute I popped in a Sony disk, it burned as smooth as butter; so I knew it couldn't be corrupted data as the problem. It had to be the Memorex disks. Immediately, I dumped the brand new Memorex spindle with the remaining 45 blank CDs in the trash. $8 wasted.

Perhaps it is true that some disks will not work on all machines, who knows. All I know is they don't work on mine and Sony has worked flawlessly on every computer and CD player I have ever used them on. So that's it for me; I will never deviate from what I know to be true again. For all I know Memorex reps could be writing those bad reviews of Sony. LOL! Sony has been infallible for me and with Sony I shall always remain, and Memorex is in the trash right where it belongs.

As the author of the Jefferson Airplane book "Take Me To A Circus Tent" and a former radio disc-jockey, I am often asked to write and or discuss various recordings from the 60's and 70's. Sometimes my thoughts are requested on recording equipment and electronics.

Memorex has been ultra reliable for me as a recording medium for blank CDR's. I have used a substantial amount over the years for both data and pictures (Notes on my Jefferson Airplane book "Take Me To A Circus Tent" and photos) and for various rock and roll albums.

The CD's have held up well and there have been very little that were defective right out of the package. While the quality control is a shade below the Fuji from Japan, in no way should Memorex be considered a poor second choice.

For maximum shelf life the recorded CD's should be in jewel cases and not in paper sleeves. If you are into making your own labels make sure to use the better quality paper. The inferior thin labels not only will curl up before they are placed on the CD but the glue will actually get into the CD itself. Many defective CD's are not the fault of the manufacturer but the consumer not using best judgment.

these cds are good quality and most burn good. at times a couple out of a 50 pack may be bad but that is good compared to some other brands like hp where i had about 10 bad out of 50. i recommend these cds and i have been using them for quite awhile.

Rebranded Ritek. Buy Verbatim DVD+R DL instead........2007-06-08

My disk info reader says these Memorex disks are labeled RITEK-D01-01. They are made by Ritek, and digitalfaq lists them as 3rd-class media, with only a 50-80% success rate. Given the number of prolems I've had with these disks, I say STAY AWAY. Verbatim DVD+R DL disks are labeled MKM-001-01, made by Mitsubishi-Kagaku Media, and digitalfaq lists them as 1st-class media, the best, with almost no failures. These classifications are in accord with my experience. Get Verbatim from new egg and save money, time, and aggravation. It's too bad that Memorex sullies it's name with such junkie disks.

I have a Sony DVD recorder that supports the dual-layer DVDs. These Memorex DVDs are the first DL's I've purchased, and so far so good. Out of approximately 10 I've burned, one could not be read by the Sony DVD recorder. Hopefully, that's an anomaly, and the rest will be fine. But, in general, I've had good luck with Memorex media.

the first couple of these worked like a charm and then i began to hit a streak of 5 dvd's that wouldn't burn at all. if you want to pay for a 25 pack and only get 6 out of it that work then this is the product for you.

Media showed up well packaged, with no signs of any damage or mishandling. Great value with the 100 disc spindle. I've used over half of the DVD-Rs so far and yet to have a bad burn no matter which of the 3 burners I use, or which application does the burning. If your looking to lower the cost per disc this is definately the way to go.

I've been waiting for the price to go down on DL dvd's for a year. Finally the price is close enough to $1/disc to justify buying them. I'm surprised a good brand like memorex was the first to go this low (that I could find at least). Couple with amazon's free shipping, this is it! I might be a little premature in writing this as I've only burned 5 DVD's, but so far so good! I haven't been able to play them in one of the really ancient DVD players I have (about 5 years old), but this one won't play any of my other burned DVDs anyway. The other DVD player I have, about 3 years old, plays them just fine. I will definately be buying more of these, and I'm sure the price will keep going down now that DLs are coming into the mainstream.

Very nice recorder!.......2007-06-25

I have had my DVD recorder for about a week now and I really love it. I haven't had any problems with it and unlike others who have given reviews, it isn't loud at all. In fact, it's quite the opposite. As of now, I have burned over 24 disks with it and all but one has been great. (I believe I had a problem with the movie I was burning.) I would recommend this product to anyone looking for an external dvd burner for their computer. It is lower priced and very good quality!

The only thing I do have a complaint about is that it didn't come in it's original packaging from the seller who I bought it from. It was sent wrapped in newspaper and bubble-wrap (along with the cords, plugs, etc.) and put in the fedex box. I would have like it to have had been sent in it original box. This is more to do with the seller then the product itself, which works great.

Love my new Memorex DVD Burner.......2007-06-18

I just got my Memorex DVD Burner and burnt my first DVD which took about 50-55 minutes. Not bad compared to what I have heard for some people.

1)The burner is sleek, stable, and nicely built.

2)It gives you step by step instructions on how to set it up, which is especially helpful if you are not computer savvy.

3)If you open the NeroSmart Start, it's a user-friendly interface that helps you fine exactly what you want to do.

HOWEVER there are a few things I dislike about the DVD burner, nothing major however.

1)The tray seemed a tad wobbly.

2)Some of the software is trial.

So far I think this is a grat investment and I am very happy with it. As an added bonus, I got free shipping from Amazon, and it arrived on the first day during the 'Estimated Time of Arrival'.

I am very disappointed with this item. I give it only 1 star because I have too!

Upon connecting the item and loading the software, my computer worked for one day and then completely crashed. Before the software was loaded, I had no problems. Memorex blamed me for loading the software, however everything required by the software met with my computers abilities. I returned this item and spent way too much money fixing my computer.

I am very disappointed with this item and with the customer service from Memorex. I would not recommend this product or this company to my worst enemy!

These paper sleeves have a plastic window for displaying their contents, and a tab on the back to hold the top flap shut. I can't think of anything else I could ask from disk sleeves.

Tip: either buy these as part of a Free Super Saver Shipping order, or buy them locally. After shipping, it's far cheaper to buy them at your local Staples, CompUSA, or something like that.

It is inexpensive compared to the Sony discs. However, You cannot use them in any DVR so you are limited to burning the CD to a regular size CD or playing it on the Video recorder. I like just sticking in the cd and watching it.

I bought this drive as a replacement for a smaller drive that I lost. The 4GB is plenty of space for images, documents and pdfs. I use it at home and at work on mac and pc computers.

Have not had any problems yet. I needed more space to store 5 years worth of pics, and may buy another. Much better than carrying around 4 1GB thumb drives.

This flash drive is amazing, it is so much better than my PNY Attatche`. It has plenty of space and has a nice sleak erganomic design. Unlike my Attatche` the cover fits on the back even with the lanyard clipped on! It also built sturdily, unlike the attatche` that you could pull the covers off of it.

The cases are fine but extremly fragile even if dropped on capet they break,so if you drop them on the floor or any hard surface forget it it's gone. I estimate about 20 to 30 % you may break. I don't see anything else better on the market so you just have to deal with it. "Oh I will buy this product again".

These are good jewel cases.

I have used a lot of them from this 50 pack to store DVDs in that I have burned movies on via my DVD set top recorder and they have served the purpose very well.

The only complaint about this item is that one of the jewel cases on one end was cracked when I opened the package.

Other than that I was satisfied overall with the jewel cases.

These clear jewel cases make it easy to see what you have and the slim design saves space. I use them for cd's and dvd's. I haven't had any problems with them; they are a good value.

these are very good for dvd or cd storage. very inexpensive and very good quality. people who complain below have fat fingers, thats why they break the cases
