Amazon.com Product Description
The Philips AJ396517 CD AM/FM stereo digital alarm clock features a dual alarm that can be set for two different wake-up times. You have the choice of waking up to your favorite CD, radio station, or beeper melodies. When waking to a CD, the silent CD alarm begins with a preselected track that's ready to play.

The clock is quartz controlled for accuracy. Press the repeat alarm to switch off the alarm for seven minutes at a time. The 24-hour alarm reset eliminates the need to manually reset the alarm after each use by automatically resetting the alarm function for the same time on the next day. The weekend sleeper makes sure that either one or both alarm functions are switched off during the weekends.

Using the sleep and slumber feature, you can listen to music while falling asleep without the worry of having to turn off the radio. This feature plays up to 90 minutes of music and automatically shuts off. The radio PLL tuner allows you to store up to 30 FM and AM station presets.

This clock radio has a self-powered backup. In case of an interruption in power, the clock will hold the time and alarm settings for three minutes.

4 out of 5 stars kicks.......2004-01-23

Great sound & features. It just needs bass & treble controls.

2 out of 5 stars Too many buttons spoil the broth.......2003-09-24

The clock itself has loads of great features, unfortunately the big problem is the cluttered interface with its myriad of tiny buttons. It is far too easy to accidentally switch off your alarm by pressing the wrong button, especially in dim light. And setting the alarm even when you are pressing the right buttons is not foolproof either. Your money would be better spent on a simpler machine.

2 out of 5 stars Better get a nightstand flashlight for it........2003-08-30

Pro: It sounds ok. This price isn't the shafting *I* got when I bought mine! It allows you to set the volume of the alarm and can increase it from silent to blasting you out of bed. Worth keeping it despite below

Con: The digital tuning is easy to use but sometimes you don't HAVE 30 radio stations in your area to program. But you still have 30 settings to scroll through. Not a great design, but at least it works like it's supposed to. As opposed to the dim, dimmer, dimmest blue backlighting. Mine is out now. You can only see the display looking down on this very tall radio, anyway.

If you buy this, don't forget to buy a separate alarm clock so you can find the time. (Pssst...don't let it be a Philips. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice...)

1 out of 5 stars AVOID.......2002-11-21

I bought this clock a week ago and hate it. I need a clock that has a digital radio tuner and a cd player. The clock is impossible to see unless your lying in bed right next to it. The functions are so confusing. BUY A DIFFERENT ONE!

4 out of 5 stars Great sound --- bad display.......2002-11-08

I bought this unit based on other reviews and I am very pleased with everything except the display. Our clock sits aross a 10x12 room and I cannot read the time on the display from the bed which defeats the purpose of having a clock. The display is pretty large with a blue background and black numbers and all I can see from across the room is the blue screen, which is like a small TV screen. I have adjusted the brightness but have not tried it out yet. We had it set on the brightest setting last night and couldn't read the display. The alarm is great because it starts off at a low volume and gently increases so as not to startle you. It can be set for radio, or CD. If you are going to put this unit close to the bed it is great but if you keep your clock across the room, I might reconsider.
