Listen through the built-in speaker or the supplied ear bud headphones. Forgot to turn it off? No worries: it shuts itself off after 60 minutes to conserve batteries (its sole source of power). The radio's high-impact ABS case virtually guarantees long life.

Batteries should last 30 to 40 hours at moderate volume through the unit's single speaker and slightly longer on the included ear bud headphones. Pocket use was taken into account even at the level of ear bud manufacture: if you put your radio in your pocket, it's less distance to one ear than to the other, so one side of the headphone cord is accordingly shorter. The DT200V runs on 2 AA batteries, not included.

The 200vx is a nice radio. It has a backlit-dial so you can see it better when using it in dimmer light. It also has a clock function which allows you to see the time unless your tuning. The AM is better and sounds cleaner with distant stations.The button layout is also slightly better than the original 200v. The bass response is better defined thanks to upgraded tone controls.

but the older 200v has something that the 200vx lacks, and that is.....

FM Selectivity!!

The 200vx has much better sensitivity then the 180v, and the same sensitivity as the 200v. However the older 200v is much more resistant to strong adjacent signals then the 200vx. For example, if your favorite radio station is at 90.7FM and a little distant compared to the two strong stations at 90.3 and 91.1, the 90.7 station will suffer from noise due to the strong adjacent signals on the 200vx. However the 200v is much more resistant to noise.

Between the 200v and 200vx, I'll stick with the 200v all day. It's an oldie but goodie. The 200vx just doesn't cut it for distant FM reception.

I don't own one BUT I used to work at RadioShack AND when we started selling these we had a ton of returns. Suddenly we were not getting any more in. About 8 or 9 months later we started getting them back and low and behold the returns were no more. SOOO they improved there product. Now I do own four Sangean shortwave radios and I love everything about them.

I have been searching for a radio that will bring in clear AM reception while I am taking my daily walks; my search is over. This not only provides clear AM reception, but TV and FM reception is incredible as well. The locking feature is extremely useful, as is the memory feature. You simply find the station you want, AM, FM, or TV, and select it into the memory. No need to change channels once you have everything in the memory...it's all there in whatever order you want. Easy, easy, easy! I highly recommend this item.

There is something about the five push button preset station buttons on the DT220v... AND... The fact that you need to PLUG IN THE HEAD PHONES for an antenne on this model, that really "tuned me out" of this radio.
I purchased it to replace my DT220v, because it was a little smaller. But once I checked it out, I sent it back on a rocket!
