Timex T600L CD Stereo Clock Radio with Nature Sounds (Metallic Blue)
Timex T600L CD Stereo Clock Radio with Nature Sounds (Metallic Blue)
Product Description
Amazon.com Review
Small yet robust, the Timex T600L is no ordinary clock radio. With a CD player, an 18-preset digital tuner, stereo speakers, four "nature" sound samples, and three separate alarms, the T600L may cost more than the average clock radio, but it still represents a solid value.
Short and stout with rounded sides and a contrasting silver-and-black body, the T600L looks a little intimidating. It has far more buttons than most clock radios, which we suspect may puzzle first-time users. Fortunately, many of these controls are used for setup, while the most frequently used buttons are set apart and logically situated.
The Indiglo (blue) display shows time, date, radio frequency, CD track, and indicates which nature sound (ocean, brook, forest, or wind) is currently selected for the alarm. Setting the six AM and 12 FM presets is very straightforward, and when powered up the T600L's last-station memory automatically returns to the station selected before the radio was switched off.
The sound of the T600L is quite good, but the close proximity of the two speakers yields little stereo separation. And though it does deliver a full, clean sound, don't mistake this clock radio for a mini-stereo system. Turn it up too loud, and the cabinet will start to buzz in protest. If you want to listen at higher levels, we'd suggest using the mini-headphone jack or investing in a more music-oriented clock radio or shelf stereo.
All in all, the Timex T600L is a good value: it's small, sounds good, and is chock full of features. --Wayne Garcia
Pros:
Very good sound at moderate volume
18 tuner presets
3 alarms
Headphone jack
Faceplate is cluttered
Buzzes if overdriven

Internals are too loud.......2004-11-24
too many flaws.......2004-05-23
Why 2 stars then? The one reason I have kept the clock far beyond its prime is that I love the nature sounds feature. I find now that I have difficulty falling asleep without the serene forest breeze whispering in my ears - I am a "soothing nature sounds" junkee. On another positive note, the alarm has been very dependable, aside from user error.
Undependable and too hard touse.......2004-01-17
Worst problem is difficulty in setting the station pre-sets. After reading the insructions several times, the radio just proved unresponsive to my station settings. I'm extremely disappointed and would not recommend this radio to anyone.
