It's had to imagine a product doing its advertised task any worse. You can't see what station is tuned in, it wanders from station to station, the buttons are hard to push, and the reception is awful. The folks who sell this must be fresh out of snake oil.

Currently, it no longer tunes in any stations. I'm just waiting for my Sony to arrive.

At least the clock works.

if i was able to rate this item with negative stars, i would have. once you turn the bug off, you have to find the station you listened to all over again. the reception is terrible. the suction cups dont suck to the wall. basically its a piece. dont waste your money!

Cheezy as cheezy can be. The only feature I liked was that this item could be returned! The sound was terrible, not easy to tune, flimsy design and the gimmick to have it look like a bug was only cute if you are 10 years old. This thing is junk and not worth the price of the batteries it requires. Mine was promptly returned.

Did not function well.......2007-01-04

The little radio does not have the ability for station lock-in. Every time it is turned on it reverts to a station set at the manufacturer. Since there are no indicators or displays it is annoying and time consuming having to constantly reset the station(s). It also has lousy reception and lots of static can be heard when the radio is on.

Radio works but the AC adapter is unavailable so forget about plugging this puppy in. It's a pure portable.

Dies after only a few months.......2007-06-05

I read all the reviews and was delighted to receive my Sony shower CD/radio only to have it die after only 8 months. I was then sent a replacement which just died after 6 months. Upon calling Sony, I learned that my "warranty" on the replacement unit was only 90 days. When I explained that I had not "purchased", but was given the unit as a replacement therefore a "purchase warranty" should not apply, I was told I could write to the customer complaint department. My only other recourse is to pay for the repairs estimated at $62.00 plus shipping. I could take another chance on a new unit listed here on Amazon at $56.99, but I think Sony has all of the money that it will ever see from me. Buy a cheaper unit, at least you won't be disappointed when it breaks.

I was a little hesitant on buying this product because it was kind of pricey. But I just threw away a shower radio that I paid about $30 for that I just could not stand anymore. It did work for a while, but before I knew it, I wasn't getting hardly any radio stations, and if you tried to turn up the volume, you got this horrid screeching scratchy sound and you couldn't make it lower.

But getting back to this product, I knew that I wanted a cd player this time around and decided to do a little research before buying impulsively. Even though I saw cd/radios that were less expensive, this one got the best reviews. When I wiggle around the wire antenna that is attached, I can get just about all of the stations that I listen to - minus the screeching scratching sound. And the sound quality is great, I can hear it even when I'm in another room.

I haven't tried any of the special features yet, or read the manual, but I
was able to figure out how to set the time and preset my favorite radio stations for now. The buttons to play the radio/cd and turn off are pretty straight forward and clearly displayed.

I like everything about it, EXCEPT:
* Instruction manual is poor
* Method to hang or attach radio to something is poor, not well thought out....IF you are supposed to get a shower rod under the blue hook on the radio, good luck. IF you are s'posed use that rope thru the blue hook, and then secure that to something, I'd love someone to explain that to me..The way I did is being tying the rope up in knots and around itself a lot of times...I don't think it fall, but it looks horrible...There must be a better way...If someone knows, please let me know.

great shower radio!.......2007-05-17

My girls love to listen to music in the bathroom, and they were always lugging in one of their own jamboxes -- so I bought this and they love it! It gets great reception and the quality of music is great with the radio or CD player. I'd buy it again if I needed another one.

I bought this radio so that I could listen to the news while getting ready for the day. So far, I haven't had any problems. It gets great reception even though my bathroom is in the middle of an old apartment building. I only wish the radio had pre-set stations at the touch of a button, but the radio dial works just fine. Overall, I'm happy with the purchase.

The moment you take this radio out of the box, you'll know you made a mistake. Everything about it feels cheap. The knobs are hard to grip and turn. The reception is poor. Mercifully, mine died after about a week. I must have gotten some water on it.

I've had this radio for 2 years now, and it still works great.
I use it to listen to the news while taking my morning shower. Crisp sound, clear reception, and it hangs out of the way on the shower neck. For $15.95, you can't go wrong.

Poor Radio Reception...Poor Value.......2005-07-31

This exact radio sells for $19.99 at Bed Bath and Beyond. I've had two, and neither had decent reception, and both broke in about a year. It never got a direct stream of water on it.

The "fogless" mirror never remained fogless for very long. About a month, then it fogged up!

First off, I'm not under 13 or whatever, I just didn't want an account, BUT about the radio: IT'S AWESOME!!! Don't listen to these other people, because the volume goes up REALLY loud so you're able to hear it, and it also plays the stations well without static and the batteries last a while. I don't understand why this product is getting so many poor reviews. Hopefully you'll take my word for it. I love it. I got this for Christmas of '05 and it's currently Feb. '06 and the batteries and everything are properly functioning still!! Great buy!!!!

This horrible product delivers distorted sound and needs batteries much too often. I'm looking for a better one and will throw this in the garbage which is where it belongs. DON'T BUY IT!!!

Wet Tunes Shower Am/FM Radio.......2003-10-21

I attended a Cancer relay and one of the gifts given to Cancer Survivors was a "Salton Wet Tunes" shower radio. Turning on the radio took a good 1-2 minutes and if you were not careful, it would turn off. After one week, it would not turn on at all. I know the batteries are good, because the clock works. When, and I use that word very sparingly, it worked the reception was so poor I could hardly hear with the volumn up high. I was extremely dissapointed in the product. I'm happy I didn't purchase the product. Having said that, I'm sure the group that put together the relay will not request that paticuliar product again. One would think a manufacture would donate a product that is workable because, what better "free" advertisment could one get? This advertisment for "Wet Tunes", went south. This product, "Salton Wet Tunes" is in the trash.
I hope no one else purchases one.

Power hungry.......2003-01-18

I bought this shower radio last year. It did not play CDs, but the batteries died after only a few uses. I don't know if it was defective or if the constantly running clock caused the battery death. I was very disappointed and returned it. Another shower radio that was much cheaper and didn't have a clock runs forever on batteries.

Battery Hog.......2003-01-01

I purchased the radio/cd model. It will not get through an entire CD without the batteries going dead. I contacted Salon-Maxim customer service and was told this was "completely normal","CD player uses a lot of power", "use rechargeable batteries", and "sorry... nothing I can do for you". He also suggested I use an ac/dc adapter (IN THE SHOWER) !!
I do not recommend this product.

Hunk of Junk.......2006-06-18

Bought this player used it twice and now it doesn't work. I took great care of it. Every time I put a CD in it it reads no disc. It's not the batteries. Wish I would have saved the receipt so I could send this hunk of junk back.

I love to sing in the shower, so my grandparents decided that this would make a good Hanukkah gift for me. Unfortunately, I can only use it once or twice before I have to change the batteries. When you first put in batteries, both the CD player and radio work great. But then, after a shower or two, the radio will play about 30 seconds of a song before decaying into an annoyingly loud "boom boom boom" noise. The CD player will either skip or not start at all. The only remedy I've found to this problem is changing the batteries, which are still practically at full power. Now, I must say that I "abuse" this device...I use it daily, leave it in the shower, and probably expose it to numerous cleaning chemicals, but from reading the other reviews I have determined that my problems might not stem only from this behavior. Bottom line: Don't get it if you plan to use it more than a few times,

I purchased one of these (not via Amazon) and had to return it.

It had absolutely no reception (just static). I tried both rechargeable batteries and regular batteries. The static was louder with the regular batteries, but still no reception. The price may seem like a great deal, but if the item doesn't function as designed, then it's just a waste of money.

**Oh... in the interest of full disclosure - the one that I purchased was white and green, not blue.

Really thought the cute little ring on the front would control the volume or frequency--but it's just a design kick--the iPod look. It is a cute radio. Does everything it's supposed to. Reception is strong, although if I keep it on there is sometimes a little interference from moving around the room which can be corrected with small shift of the dial. Sound is mono only--it's very lightweight. Overall a fine buy.

Poor design - avoid.......2007-02-19

I had a moderately performing shower radio and decided to replace it with something better. This one was fairly low cost, so I thought it might be a good risk. It wasn't.

* The sound quality is terrible -- very tinny sounding. I get better audio through the telephone.

* The antenna is extremely sensitive to movement around it. Since it's designed as a shower radio, you are generally right next to it and moving, causing the signal to go from loud to scratchy to soft to loud again.

* The dials cannot be easily tuned with wet fingers.

In short -- this is a poor radio, and it's a TERRIBLE shower radio. I regret buying this and I'm going back to using my old one. Avoid this one.
