The tuner hails from Teac's Reference line, a collection of components designed with thinner profiles than traditional stereo devices. This particular tuner measures 11.5 inches across (most components measure in the 17-inch range), making it a perfect option for listeners with narrow entertainment cabinets or shelves. In addition, the T-H500 is equipped with a host of valuable features beyond its convenient size, such as a PLL (phase-locked loop) synthesized tuning system and 60 memory presets (30 AM and 30 FM) to cover the entire radio dial in all but the busiest markets. The tuner also boasts a multifunction fluorescent display that shows the station info clearly, along with daily, sleep, and remote timer functions.
