Product Description
Product Description:
Yamaha TX-492 is an entry level tuner that delivers high performance and convenience features.Direct PLL - Phase Locked Loop - tuning LSI circuitry combined with a microprocessor controlled IF count synthesizer tuning system precisely locks onto the broadcast frequency for super-accurate tuning. Alpha Circuitry Absolute Linear Phase IF Amplifier is a Yamaha-developed circuit that provides excellent selectivity, interference rejection, phase linearity, and improved channel separation, while maintaining extremely low harmonic distortion. By using ALPHA circuitry, the TX-492 provides better selectivity than other models in this price range. The tuner will automatically store in memory presets the 40 radio stations with strongest frequencies. Preset Editing allows you to change the presets as you wish an organize them in five groups of eight stations. These groupings make it easy for family members to easily access their favorite stations or to have musical genres, such as all the jazz stations, grouped together. The tuner automatically "memorizes" your settings for AM or FM band, stereo or mono mode, as well as the station's frequency. Yamaha's unique signal quality meter provides visual indication of multipath as well as signal strength. 2-way mode selector permits automatic reception of all stereo signals, or, if the signal is too weak, manual selection of mono for better signal quality. Extra-large anti-vibration feet reduce resonance and vibration effects. High gain AM loop antenna allows for maximum reception of AM stations.

YAMAHA 61 KEY PORTABLE KEYBOARD W/AC ADAPTER - YAMAHA 61 KEY PORTABLE KEYBOARD W/AC ADAPTER

Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars Not as advertised.......2007-05-29

My Yamaha portable keyboard only came with 60 keys, not 61. The worst part about it is the missing key is right in the middle of the keyboard, making it virtually useless. I have contacted the seller (ANTOnline), but since they cannot be reached by phone it has been through email. Their online customer service department emails me back within 2 business days, but they will not replace it with a 61-Key piano. Instead, they suggest that I send it to Yamaha.
Sending it to Yamaha is going to cost me an additional $27 for shipping--and repair or replacement could take up to 6 weeks--so I am highly dissatisfied. Ordering products online should be as or more convenient than going to an actual store. This experience has proven to me that this is not the case.

4 out of 5 stars good to start, but move away quickly.......2007-04-27

For what it is, this keyboard is great. However, "what it is" allows it to have significant drawbacks:
1: the speakers are horrible. With external speakers or headphones, it sounds great (need an adapter, as the keyboard has a quarter-inch jack). If playing one key at a time, the speakers may be acceptable, but they are incapable of combining the sounds of several keys.
2: it is not touch-sensitive. This means that, no matter how hard or soft you press the keys, a sound of the same volume will be played.
3: It is set to LOUD by default. Every time I turned the keyboard on, I lowered the volume to one third. The keyboard uses button presses, rather than a dial, to control volume. This is simply annoying and should have been corrected.
4: It is not full-size. It has 61 keys; a piano has 88. This may or may not be a limitation, depending on your skill level and song preference.
5: Headphone jack is on the back of the keyboard. It should be on the front, which is more convenient and comfortable.
6: Flimsy bookstand. This is a problem with some better Yamaha models as well.

On the exceptionally good side:
1: the default piano sound, with good headphones (Sennheiser EH 350), is spectacular.
2: very light and easy to carry. It can also run on batteries, in case you want to take it camping or something.
3: Very cheap, which is handy if you plan to take it camping. It is also durable if you are careful with it.

On some occasions, I would prefer to use this keyboard rather than my new Yamaha DGX 505, simply because the notes sound so beautiful.

If your child wants to play the piano, either this or a YPT 300 is perfect. The Piano Handbook by Carl Humphries is a very helpful as well.

5 out of 5 stars Less is more.......2007-03-28

Although this keyboard is small, and pretty compact, it has a great price and is ideal for a person who loves uncomplicated music without a "million and one" sounds which up the price and don't add much to the enjoyment of the person playing.

1 out of 5 stars IT AINT NO KEYTAR BUT IT DUD LAY KICK.......2007-03-21

hmm. It doesnt sound much like a Grande Piano two me. More of like a strange drumset sometimes or a synthy. Or people claping at me when I didnt even play anything. I push le button hard. WILD HOOOOOGGS

5 out of 5 stars Worth Every Penny.......2007-01-31

I purchased this keyboard as a birthday gift for my wife and have been more then pleased with it. She told me that it's even nicer than the one her piano instructor uses! It does produce a high-quality sound that is smooth and sweet. Highly recommended!

4 out of 5 stars Very fun, very usable.......2007-06-08

I'm not a great drummer, but i do like to tool around, and this has a nice sound to it. Nowhere near a full kit replacement, or an electronic kit, but good for making noise (even in your headphones), and takes up very little space. I imagine it would be good for adding miscellaneous pieces to an existing kit too, like triangle, cowbell, etc. so you don't have to lug those around. As others said, the pedals are not the best... the hi-hat triggers a hit when you depress the pedal (instead of muffling it) and the bass pedal gets bleed over from other hits. But for the price, it is a lot of fun.

    5 out of 5 stars Drummin' away.......2007-01-18

ordered this as an afterthought for our drummer son for
Christmas. Weren't expecting it to be here before the holidays, but it arrived in 2 days. He's having a great time with it. He had an old snare drum stand to put it on. Otherwise you'd need a stand for it.

    2 out of 5 stars turn off.......2006-11-08

The sound quality is good: but the speakers are not great (must plug to headphones or amp 4 good sound). Also, it's heavier (boxy) than other versions and hard to carry around. I am a simple girl. I just need the equipment to stay ON while I play and this one wouldn't. In less than a month, I had to return it (as it wouldn't start again). Shame. I wanted to upgrade as I still use Yamaha's DD-50... Still, I returned this item and now I am affraid to buy another like it.

5 out of 5 stars A tool but for what job?.......2006-06-24

I love my DD55. It can fill several needs for any drummer of any skill level. It wll lack if you need a performing/recording solution. No one should expect to pay less than $2000 for that type of gear and this is not it.

You could perform live with the DD55 but would need to augment it with real kick drum and cymbals and most likely a snare. You could experiment and learn Midi with the DD55. You can take it on the road as a better alternate to a practice pad. Perfect for impromptu jam sessions at the park or beach(although the onboard speakers are weak). For parents oppressed by the constant sound suppression from new and young drummers the DD55 can provide relief(headphones included). For the money there is NO better money spent exploring electronic drums for the first time.

I have found ways to deal with the pedals which aren't great but are more than usable. Construction of the DD55 is solid although it does appear a bit lightweight. The DD55 is not a toy but an economical solution for several issues any drummer faces at various times during their time skinnin'.

    I highly recommend getting a Quik-Loc stand.

In closing I plan on buying a second DD55

3 out of 5 stars Great little practice doodler!.......2006-01-09

This is a great little device if you want to take it along somewhere and practice. I wouldnt recomend it as a replacment for an actual drum kit though. If you are really serious about practicing i'd recommend getting the DTXpress III which Yamaha makes as well. It's an excellent replacment for an acoustic kit. Tons of preset and programable drum kits, tracks and voices. Plus it's an actual full sized electronic drum kit so it's like playing an actual kit.

      Product Description

Yamaha RXN600 Home-Theater receiver embraces the convergence of many technologies from audio, video, and computer that can now be associated within a home-theater system. The RXN600 comes equipped with and Ethernet connection for easy integration in a home network. It offers a USB input on the front panel to easily connect your portable audio player or flash memory device and comes equipped with a rear panel port that easily connects to the optional YDS10 iPod Dock. The YDS10 dock lets you listen to iPod music, watch iPod image slideshows, play iPod videos on the best system in your house. Compatibility with DNLA and MusicCAST means that that RXN600 brings you one step closer to creating a seamless environment for sharing digital media and content. When music is encoded in a digital compressed format such as MP3, frequency response suffers in the high and low ranges. Yamaha employs sophisticated digital signal processing with exclusive algorithms to enable playback that reproduces the original quality of the music. The RXN600 brings channels of superior digital audio into your home using XM's revolutionary Connect-and-Play technology (subscription to XM is required). You can configure a multi-room audio system with the ability to listen to 2 different sources at 2 different volume levels at the same time. Simply connect the Zone 2 audio output of this receiver to an external amplifier to power the second zone and control both zones by using the supplied remote control.

I'm very pleased with the purchase of this receiver. Great sound, decent remote and easy navigation. Drawbacks are no HDMI connectors and a text-based gui for connecting to your home network and listening to MP3's.

5 out of 5 stars Great AV Receiver and a Lot More!.......2007-01-23

As the proud owner of a new Yamaha RX-N600 I wanted to comment on some of the issues I have heard of with this product. Most of the issues are really not issues at all, they just need to properly set up the RX-N600 and the products they use with it.

I have heard people say that the RX-N600 can't handle iPod video. It does, but to make it work you need to turn ON the video output of your iPod and it works great. Both videos and photos are displayed on your TV and the iPod is controllable with the RX-N600 remote control.

I've also heard people say that the Net/USB doesn't work with an MP3 player. Here again, I found that all I needed to do was set my MP3 player (or for that matter my Cellphone MP3 player) to be a mass storage device and the Net/USB works perfectly!

The last, and to me most important problem I have heard about is that people say the Network music won't work with Microsoft Media Player 11. At first I found the same problem, but when I called Yamaha Tech Support, they were very helpful. They e-mailed me an RX-N600 software update file, which I installed through the RX-N600 USB port. It worked perfectly the first time I tried it. I now have no trouble streaming music from my PC to the RX-N600.

All of the above, plus I love having access to internet radio through my RX-N600. If you don't know about this, it's like a TV-Guide for internet radio stations all over the world - 2,000 of them! With the on-screen menu, you just point and click to pick a country, a genre, etc. It's really amazing and very enjoyable. I don't think anyone else is manufacturing a product that gives you all of this, plus a really good A/V home theater receiver anywhere near this price. Keep up the good work Yamaha!

3 out of 5 stars Pretty good but not without issues.......2006-09-28

I have had this unit for about 2 weeks now. Sound is as good as anything in this price range. I was coming from a Sony 900 series receiver which was failing. This is my first Yamaha. No other manufacturers had networking capability that didn't cost 3 times as much. Plan on spending most of a day setting this up unless you do that kind of thing often.

Most of my comments center around the networking and USB functions because that's why I bought it, to perhaps eliminate my PC as a music source and go direct from this receiver. We'll, it kinda works... The remote is a bit of a sore spot too as with just a bit more functionality it could have been really good, I could have gotten down to one remote but unfortunately it does not control my cable set top box.

      Strengths
      * Works great with my Sony VCR, remote controls everything nicely.
      * Ipod dock (an extra item purchased separately) seems to work very well. Does not play Ipod video though. Remote controls this too
      * Nice remote, after you figure it out it is pretty logical. Controls 3 of my 4 components nicely.
      * Internet radio is a real winner, seems to have jillions of stations arranged fairly logically by locale. It would be very difficult to duplicate this on your PC unless you enrolled in a pay service. Its like having a short wave radio.

      Near misses
      * Remote works great with my Sony DVD player, but make sure you have the side switch on "source" to control play, fast forward, etc. Otherwise you won't be able to move the cursor through DVD menus that appear in the movie menu and make choices on how the movie plays.
      * If the Remote could just have a little learning it would be great. You won't know if it will control your unit until you try it out. The list of remote codes that Yamaha supplies is vague, does not list models just a bunch of codes for each manufacturer. You just have to try each one for your manufacturer and see if any work. Hit or miss.
      * Net/USB did not work with my Creative Zen Nomad jukebox MP3 player, but did work with a Corsair Memory 2gb flash voyager stick. Go figure. I did notice recently that I can set my Zen to act as a mass storgae unit, and to be fair I have not tried that yet.

      Weaknesses
      * Network music does not work with Microsoft Media Player 11, only 10. I called Yamaha and they said Media Player 11 was not supported. The N600 does not connect reliably to the media library store, sometimes it works fine, sometimes it errors out or just shows an empty list. Very finicky. Media player 11 is in beta so beware, it will become mainsteam shortly and is not supported. I'm not sure if/how Yamaha will remedy this for me.
      * Plays wave, WMA and MP3 but not Itunes
      * Crude character interface display for the Net/USB functions, like looking at a pong game on an old IBM CGA PC. About as much functionality as a typical MP3 player, you have to scroll through a page at a time in everything. A pain in the neck if you have a large music collection
      * Will not control my Motorola DCT700 Comcast cable box, I tried all the Motorola codes and Yamaha says that's all there is, if they don't work you are outta luck. I am.
      * Remote has no learning capability.
      * Limited inputs for other components, but enough for what I need
      * Documentation is OK but the manual is all there is. There is no FAQ or deeper level of detail on their website or anywhere else that I could find. You have to call Yamaha and you will get a live person, but from what I found from 2 calls is they didn't know any more than the manual.

Conclusion: Would I buy this again? Probably not because the networking is so limited, and that was the main reason I selected this model. If you buy a good receiver and go with an attached high quality PC/soundcard you'd be better off. The Yamaha interface does not come anywhere close to the ease of use and nice presentation you get on any PC media player program. That's like comparing a typewriter to using a PC with Word. The USB feature is nice but could be a lot better if it supported more devices.

4 out of 5 stars So far awesome ! Shipped next day by OneCall!.......2007-05-01

Delivery by OneCall was fantastic !! It was shipped the next day and I got the system the next day.

        Sounds incredible so far.
The only problem I found is, if, for some reason, the system cannot decode the DVD audio, it does not switch the Input mode to 'Analog'. Hence, no audio signals are outputted. You have to manually switch the Input mode to 'Analog' from 'Auto' to get the audio in analog mode.

5 out of 5 stars Classic Yamaha Sound.......2007-03-26

I purchased this unit a little over a month ago, and am very please with the performance and features that it has. In any setup, your speakers will have the biggest impact on the sound, but having a good quality surround receiver with minimal amplifier distortion makes a big difference as well. This receiver not only delivers beautiful surround sound for movies, but Yamaha goes the extra mile to provide DSP settings to enhance music listening enjoyment as well.

The setup of the receiver is actually pretty intuitive, and the menus are easy to navigate. The only thing this is missing that the more expensive Yamaha models have, is the automatic sound setup that uses a microphone which connects to the receiver. Those reveiver then calibrate all the speakers automatically for you. Forthis model, you still need to sit in your listening position and manually tweek the speaker settings (if you are not happy with the simple room size defaults). Not a big deal, just thought it was worth mentioning.

About the only thing I am not crazy about, is the typical Yamaha brick remote. It seems that Yamaha spends all its research and development money on DSPs and sound field processing software (which is a very good thing), but spends very little on remote control ergonomics design. The remote is fully functional and programmable, it's just clunky in design and feel. I guess Yamaha figures that most people only use their remote for initial setup, and then use a good universal remote for normal daily use.

All in all, for the price that Amazon currently has this unit listed for, you really can't beat it. So if you are looking for a 6.1 system, this is a great choice.

        5 out of 5 stars Great.......2007-03-08

I was tired of not having surround sound to go along with my hdtv, so I needed a cheap system to last me until HDMI 1.3 is implemented, when i will overhaul my entire setup...tv, receiver, speakers, sub, etc...
I bought this receiver to go along with some Klipsch speakers and a Klipsch Sub about 4 months ago. When I got everything home and hooked it up, it soudned ok I guess. After going through a bit of a setup it did sound better. The auto setup on this device isn't the greatest...However, if you are enough of an audiophile to adjust this thing on your own, you can change that very easily. Now this thing sounds amazing. Great base, awe-inspiring surround sound quality, sports (esepcially football and college basketball on CBS), the xbox 360, and my XM sounds brilliant on here. I could not be happier with my purchase.

If you want a powerful receiver that sounds great (use only the optical inputs) and does not hurt the wallet too much, this is the way to go.

        5 out of 5 stars Can't go wrong..........2006-11-28

I've had Sony's receivers for years and years, and all my components are Sony as well. I've been replacing my old Sony receivers every 4 or 5 years...most recently replacing my STE475, which for some reason decided to drop the center and surround speakers whenever it felt like it. It even dropped the main left and right stereo speakers now and then. Anyway, I knew it was time to retire the poor thing so I started looking and researching, and listening (demo-ing) mid-price receivers at the big stores.

I liked the clean looks of the Harman Kardons (I do like those blue lights) but they were just so massive and a tad more expensive than I wanted to spend, the Onkyos, the Panasonics (I do like those blue lights), more Sony's and the Yamahas...so many Yamaha models to choose from! I'm into the surround sound for sure, but I don't care about satelite radio or docking an ipod (at this point in time anyway); I just wanted the best bang for my buck, and something reliable and nice looking, and with most of the bells and whistles to play killer surround sound, and a user friendly remote was important too.

I finally decided on this model (HTR5940 black) and I couldn't be happier. I set it up in about 5 minutes, and only had to refer to the manual a couple of times for tweeking everything the way I like it. The manual is clear as a bell (if you understand the basics in the first place) and let me tell you; the sound is incredible. I hear stuff I NEVER heard before in movies and broadcast HD 5.1 shows I've seen a million times. This amazed me! Subtle stuff like wind rustling in trees...background noises; rain, rivers..you get my drift? I never even knew these remarkable sounds existed! I'm so happy with this receiver...I'm sure other Yamaha models are killter too..goodbye Sony, hello Yamaha. I'm expecting this baby to last a long long time.

(and the remote is very friendly too)

5 out of 5 stars Receiver sounds great!.......2006-11-04

          Amazon.com Product Description

Yamaha's YSP-1100 Digital Sound Projector provides true multi-channel surround sound from a single component. As amazing as it seems, the YSP-1100 can actually deliver multi-channel sound that surrounds listeners the same way that sound from front, center and rear speakers does. DVD movies and other digital sources sound just the way they are supposed to. Dolby Pro Logic II is included, so even 2-channel TV sound can be heard in glorious multi-channel surround. Remember, this is true surround sound, not virtual surround, which can cause listening fatigue. This model features 40 built-in beam drivers and 2 built-in woofers, along with 42 corresponding digital amplifiers.

The YSP-1100 precisely controls the orientation of sound by focusing it into beams. The center channel sound is heard directly, while the sounds from other channels are heard after reflecting off the walls surrounding the listener. SRS's TruBass technology uses harmonics to provide deep and rich bass response. The result is an excellent solution for video enthusiasts who wish to build their home theater systems around larger flat screen TVs and desire a neat, uncluttered, unobtrusive system to match the interior of their room.

Five selectable sound settings allow users to choose between 5-Beam Mode, Stereo Mode, 3-Beam Mode, Stereo+3-Beam Mode and My Beam Mode. The YSP-1100 has a wider soundstage than its predecessors, affording more optimum listening positions within a room. My Beam mode allows users to focus sound to a specific position in their room at the touch of a button to avoid disturbing others.

Yamaha's CINEMA DSP technology, which offers seven audio programs compatible with the Dolby Digital, DTS, Dolby Pro Logic II, and DTS Neo:6 sound formats, creates realistic soundscapes in any room. For late night movie and music enjoyment, the YSP-1100 features a Night Listening Enhancer mode that allows dialog and quiet passages to be heard clearly, even at low volumes. The TV Equal Volume mode prevents sudden bursts of sound from TV programs and commercials.

The YSP-1100 offers simple video input selection with a multi-language onscreen display. Video can be selected from any of two component inputs to a component output, or from three composite inputs to a composite output with superimposed onscreen display menus in any of four languages (English, French, German and Spanish).

          Amazon.com Product Description

Make an investment in your surround sound home theater set-up that you'll enjoy for years with the Yamaha HTR-6090BL 7.1-channel receiver with 840 watts (120 watts x 7) of total amplification. The receiver is built around Yamaha's digital ToP-ART (Total Purity Audio Reproduction Technology) design concept, which maximizes digital signal quality and minimizes analog circuitry to ensure the best possible sound. ToP-ART receivers include such defining attributes as ultra-high-current amplification, high-performance 192 kHz/24-bit digital-to-analog converters, an upgraded Pure Direct listening mode that provides terrific signal purity, and an impressively wide frequency range of 10 Hz to 100 kHz that helps digital audio sources like DVD-Audio and Super Audio CD reach their full potential.

This receiver incorporates the HDMI 1.2a specification, which transmits pure, crystal-clear digital audio and video via a single cable as well transmit a 1080p signal from any 1080p component. And with the upconversion feature, your S-Video and composite video signals will be converted into higher quality HDMI/component signals to ensure the highest-quality picture on your HD monitor from any source. No more switching inputs according to which source you're using--rather, they can all go through the same HDMI/component connection. The receiver also offers the ultra-convenient Yamaha Parametric Room Acoustic Optimizer (YPAO), which employs an optimizer microphone at the listening position to pick up test tones from your speakers. The HTR-6090BL then analyzes the test tones to let you know which speaker configuration is best. It's like having a professional audio engineer tweak your system.

What really makes the HTR-6090BL special, however, is its number of high-end functions, such as the 480i to 480p de-interlacing, the superior multi-zone control for listeners with multi-room speaker systems, the assignable amplifiers for users who want to create bi-amped speaker connections, and the pair of HDMI inputs for high-quality digital audio and video data handling. Plus, the HTR-5990 not only includes a standard AM/FM tuner, but it's also XM satellite radio ready, making it fully compatible with any separately sold XM antenna.

Additional features include an accurate touch-volume control, an enhanced dialogue mode for movies, a selectable nine-band subwoofer crossover, a night listening mode that helps you clearly hear all the surround programs at low volumes, and a full-function learning remote control.

With a bevy of digital and analog inputs, the HTR-6090BL can accommodate a ton of digital sources such as DVD players, CD players, video game consoles, digital satellite systems, and much more. The rear panel options include the aforementioned pair of HDMI inputs and one output, four optical digital audio inputs and two outputs, two coaxial digital inputs and one output, three component video inputs and one output, five S-video inputs and three outputs (two assignable), five composite video inputs and three outputs (two assignable), and four analog audio inputs and two outputs. Also present are a 5.1 multichannel input, a full 7.1 surround pre-out, and a set of front-panel A/V inputs for quick connections.

          The HTR-6090BL measures 17.1 by 6.75 by 16.7 inches (W x H x D) and is backed by a two-year warranty.

          What's in the Box
HTR-6090BL receiver, remote control, four AAA batteries, power cable, speaker terminal wrench, optimizer microphone, AM loop antenna, indoor FM antenna, user's manual

          5 out of 5 stars Yamaha HTR-6090BL Works Great.......2007-05-29

Replaced my way to difficult to operate Denon (and I'm a gadget guy) with the Yamaha. Easy to setup, I like the HDMI interfaces and the automatic speaker tuning was a no brainer. It even found one speaker that I had the wires reversed on. The sound is just as good or better than the Denon. The best part is my wife can operate it also.

5 out of 5 stars You would be wise to buy this item!!!.......2006-12-06

I recently purchased the yamaha htr 6090 to go with my samsung 61 HDTV 1080p, samsung blu-ray player, klipsch quintets and klipsch subwoofer. This combo of products are simply awesome. I was able to easily hook up my hdmi cables from my samsung player and cable box into the receiver. And from the receiver hdmi to my tv's hdmi. I went from lots of cables to just three, the two inputs and one output. What a difference in sound and video. If you can afford this player, get it. The surround sound is a noticable difference from the old 5.1. Please do not waste your time if you are not prepared to buy the latest in technology.

4 out of 5 stars The 6090 replaces the 5990, does it live up? You Decide........2006-09-01

I was a previous owner of the Yamaha 5990 and recently purchased the 6090 as a replacement for it. I wanted to highlight a few of the differences between the two in features so that you can make an informed product buying decision. In the next few weeks 5990's will be going on clearance in order to make room for this new piece. Maybe you'll decide to go higher up on the Yamaha product line to the RX-V series, or try a different company. You decide

          - Specifications -
As it sounds right now, just listening with my ears there seems to be no audible difference, but there are a few specs that a different inside from the last model to this model.

Dynamic Headroom 1.1 dB on the 6090. The 5990 had 1.03dB
Dampening Factor (IHF) 150 or More on the 6090. The 5990 had 140 or more
Maximum Input Signal on the PHONO is 60mV on the 6090. The 5990 has 100mV
The total weight of the product from the 5990 to the 6090 has dropped by 1 pound. From 37 lbs. to 36 lbs.

          - Features -
The 6090 does have a couple of impressive new features which were the main reason I decided to purchase it.

Full pass through of 1080P video signals. The 5990 can only do 1080i.
Yamaha's proprietary iPod docking system. Using Yamaha's YDS-10SL iPod docking system you can connect your iPod to the receiver, control it, and charge it all at once. It works flawlessly and charges even when the unit is turned off (Although you can turn that off).

          - Losses -
With all those new items older features have to go in order to make room and keep the pricing bracket.
The 6090 looses THX Select 2 Certification. As I said, the system seems to sound on par with the 5990 so I think this may have simply been used to save money by forgoing the expensive process of getting the branding. But if you see some of the slight differences above in specifications these maybe where the receiver fails to pass (I'm technical but not THAT technical).
The Front Speaker "B" Channel is gone.
Advanced Install Controls are gone. This included RS-232 input for advanced remote control systems, and the 12V triggers used to trigger other electronics in the room to turn on or off (such as a drop down screen, or lighting controls).

Those are the major differences between the two pieces. I hope this helps you out when attempting to decide what to purchase.

It's true, it may say region 1 but put in the code while the tray is open press 99990 and wait for 5 seconds "it should say all region" or something like that. your ready to go. seems like a good buy but I've only used it for a day so far. Yamaha is a quality name so it should live up to the rep. I'm stoked.

Ever since I discovered this player, I have been highly impressed with how much it met both my normal and oddball demands. As a student of Musical Theatre, Opera, Classical vocal and choral literature, and Jazz and Classical piano, 192-KHz, 24-Bit conversion is of great importance to me. One thing that sets this player apart from the other manufacturers' players is Yamaha's CD UpSampling feature. For those titles which are currently only available on CD and possibly will never be released on DVD-AUDIO and/or SACD, this option converts standard CDs to the quality of DVD-AUDIO. On the Musical Theatre, Opera, and choral side of things, this player is capable of playing both NTSC (North American) and PAL (European) DVDs on corresponding as well as opposite TVs. For certain titles in these genres, the North American editions are either four percent slower in tempo and picture movement and flatter in pitch than the European editions due to the method of PAL-to-NTSC conversion used by the distributors of such DVDs, or do not include as many bonus features as their original European counterparts. Sometimes, it can be the other way around, except the European editions might be four percent faster and sharper and have less bonus material than their original North American counterparts. On both ends of the spectrum, if the audio pitch is corrected without changing the audio speed to keep the picture and sound in synch, a subaudible breaking-up effect may be noticed as the result of slight artifacts from slightly bending or stretching the pitch in the conversion process. However, because of this player's bicompatibility with both color systems, I have the freedom to choose and purchase whatever editions are the best. Although it is not in the manual, this player can be made multi-region compatible including RCE DVDs. Turn on the DVD player. Make sure there are no discs loaded. With the tray open, using its supplied remote control, slowly press 99990. Wait for the 'Region 0' message to disappear. Close the tray. Now you can play any kind of optical disc without thinking about it. The only little flaw with this player's firmware is that when the 'All Discs' repeat mode is selected, when playing DVDs, after playing through all the titles, instead of moving on to the next disc, it returns to the home menu. If Yamaha could do a minor revision to the firmware which engages that same menu bipass as when repeating a single DVD, the machine would change DVDs automatically. I discovered this by reauthoring DVDs without any of their menus using DVD Shrink Version 3.2. In conclusion, if you are looking for a DVD player with high video compatibility*, you have come to the right place! *Others have reported problems playing 'Dual Discs'--a type of disc which includes DVD-VIDEO on one side or layer, and CD DIGITAL AUDIO on another, also known as 'Hybrids.' However, big names, such as Panasonic, Sony, and Pioneer, do not recommend using these discs in their players.

          5 out of 5 stars Perfect.......2007-05-07

Even though I am a beginner, my instructor told me that he is amazed at the sound of such an inexpensive guitar. I too wanted a guitar that wasn't cheaply made and the sound was important. Nobody wants to learn on a guitar that sounds bad.

I would certainly recommend this guitar to any beginner as well as advanced player. The price is right and it is a well built and great sounding instrument!

          1 out of 5 stars Very Disappointed.......2006-02-16

When I received the guitar and unzipped the bag I was in shock. The first thing I saw were the "dirty" tune keys that looked like they had never been wiped off. They were brown with dirt. The guitar had 3 nylon strings and 3 steel strings which was a total turn off. The body of the guitar was scraped and damaged more than the seller had mentioned. I was so discusted I didn't even take it all the way out of the bag. Back it went! I'll never buy used on Amazon again. What a disappointing experience and I'm sorry to say that this isn't my first time. People must be really desperate for money!
