The mounting cutout measures 13.25 by 7.12 inches and sits 3.12 inches deep--a manageable size that easily holds the 14.5-by-8.25-inch speaker frame. Inside the speaker, meanwhile, sits dual 5.25-inch mica-filled polypropylene woofers with butyl rubber surrounds and a 1-inch liquid-cooled ElastoDynamic dome tweeter. The drivers combine to produce pleasing mids and intense highs, with an impressive (for a wall speaker) 45 Hz to 21 kHz frequency response. The drivers are also magnetically shielded, so you can install the speaker near any TV--including directly underneath a flat panel monitor--without distorting the image.The speaker comes with all the necessary hardware for installation, including system mounting hardware for new or retrofit construction, a mounting template, and a paint mask. The latter item is handy for users who want to paint the white frames to match or contrast with their wall color. The LST-CTR also offers a few extras above and beyond most in-wall speakers. Each channel offers an individual gain control, letting you precisely match the amplifier to the rest of your system, along with low-impedance stability (2.66 ohms) should you want to drive two pairs of speakers at once. The amp's automatic protection circuit, meanwhile, protects your system against shorts or overloads in the speaker, wiring, or component. It even includes a front-panel indicator that lets you know when something's up.Another nice feature is the A45-X2's multiple turn-on modes: constant mode synchs the amp with the front-panel master power switch, as with a traditional component. Turn on the master switch and the amp turns on. Audio sense mode, conversely, responds to the audio signal in the left and right inputs. When the amp doesn't detect an audio signal, it simply turns itself off. If it detects a signal, the amp turns on by itself. The third mode responds to the 3- to 30-volt AC/DC trigger input. The amplifier only turns on when it detects AC or DC voltage at the input along with a line-level audio signal. The mounting cutout measures 7.62 by 10.62 inches and sits 2.38 inches deep--a manageable size that easily holds the 8.75-by-11.69-inch speaker frame. Inside the speaker, meanwhile, sits a 6.5-inch graphite-filled polypropylene woofer with a butyl rubber surround and a 1-inch liquid-cooled dome tweeter. The drivers combine to produce pleasing mids and intense highs, with an impressive (for wall speakers) 50 Hz to 21 kHz frequency response. In addition, the tweeter is mounted on a small pivot, so you can point the sound directly toward the listening area for better dispersion.The LSW-6.5s make good main speakers, but also excel as secondary speakers in an adjacent room (when connected to the main receiver), or even as home theater surround speakers (rear left/right) when watching movies or listening to five-channel audio sources.
