Works well with some minor flaws........2007-06-21

I got this radio as a Christmas gift last year. I wanted an alarm clock that played CDs so that I can wake up to my favorite songs rather than a beeping sound or the radio. It works well for what I use it for.

What's to like about this radio? First of all, the design of the radio is pleasant to the eye. With the CD door opening vertically, it's unique and not a typical-looking alarm clock. Second, the sound is pretty good. Although I mainly use this as an alarm clock and generally have it low as to not wake up the rest of the family, I have occasionally used it to listen to CDs for entertainment and it can get pretty loud. Third, although I don't use it, the remote control is a handy little device to include with this radio.

And what's not to like? First of all, the light on the display is really bright. I've had this radio for quite some time so I'm sort of used to it but it took me a good week or two to get used to it. Second, when my alarm clock goes off in the morning, the sound of the CD starting up is loud and I tend to wake up to that sound rather than my CD.

If you're looking for an attractive looking alarm clock, this is a good one but consider the flaws before purchasing it.

I read the reviews, but bought it anyway. Hope to save someone $49.99. Never got the alarm to work and soon stopped using the CD function because the sound quality was just too annoying. This won't even be relegated to the guest room. Garbage for this product.

BRIGHT LIGHT!.......2006-10-29

The only thing I have to complain about my new alarm clock is the display. It is WAY too bright, more of a night-light than an alarm clock display. Also, the numbers are hard to see from an angle. But I bought the product for it's touchless snooze, which I've looked for to replace my circa 1985 SounDesign alarm clock with. It took me several years, and many alarm clock purchases to find one I'm happy with. The controls are easy to figure out, and it has great sound, so I'm satisfied. I think I'll find some window-tint film to put over the alarm clock display.

Yeah, the blue light is bright. BUT: the sound is terrific, the alarm works (I wish it were 10 minutes, not 5), it plays burned CD's, there's no hum. It's a terrific buy, and I notice it's on back-order and flying off the shelves.
