Amazon.com Product Description

The RCA RP3755 AM/FM Dual Wake CD Clock Radio offers features that will make your waking and sleeping lives easier and more peaceful than ever. With the RCA RP3755, you can wake or fall asleep to your favorite radio station, your favorite CD, or the smoothing sounds of sea waves, bird song, rain forests, mountain streams or other serene nature sounds included on the bonus CD.

Digital tuning, 11 AM/FM presets, and a high performance system with bass reflex speakers means that your favorite radio station, at high-performance sounds, is just a button away. A motorize CD door system provides for smooth and easy access to your favorite CD. Best of all, the RCA RP3755 runs on a unique ASIC chip, in which three features are combined to make life a little bit easier for you and yours. The Graduwake Ramp-Up Alarm gradually increases the volume of the alarm as you wake up; a "nap" function allows you to take a refreshing cat nap without fear of sleeping all afternoon, and a programmable snooze feature means you can sleep for up to an extra two hours after your alarm initially wakes you up. A large, backlit 1.25-inch display for easy readability rounds out the features of this outstanding CD clock radio.

1 out of 5 stars Would rate "NO" star if I could..........2007-04-02

My husband bought this for me about 2 yrs ago for my birthday so I could use at work. The radio worked fine but CD player from day one was a mess. Would play CD's for maybe 15 minutes then started 'acting up'. Hadn't used it in over a year til my son was born and recently tried using to play lullaby CD's. Like the previous reviewer mentioned, you can actually 'hear' the player straining to play the CD...then it actually 'skips' (sounds like), eventually stopping play altogether though the CD is still spinning. Funny, I just hopped on Amazon to look for a new clock radio/CD player and happened to see my exact current model listed!! I HAD NO IDEA MY HUBBY SPENT THIS MUCH!! $70?!?!? What a waste!

1 out of 5 stars JUNK JUNK JUNK.......2007-03-30

I'm an engineer (electronics, that is) and I know I'm over analytical but trust me this is a serious POS. The only positive I can draw from it is the sound quality which is at least average to slightly above considering the competition and price point. That being said after I received this (a gift) it stopped working after about 2 months (lost the receipt of course and I never tried to follow up without the receipt). The mechanics of the CD door, and the drive motor are horrific. The door sticks, the drive motor was noisy clunky, and the thing skips at the slightest movement. The problem worsened as time went on to where it wouldn't even make it through a 10 second duration without severe skipping. The buttons aren't intuitive at all - just a bad design - I've already spent more time writing this than the product is worth. I can see via the ratings that a large majority of users agree - DO NOT BUY!

1 out of 5 stars Avoid like the plague--at least, I will.......2007-03-12

I have owned three of these, and each turned out to be junk. Why did I own three, you ask? When I bought the first one, I was offered a free replacement service contract by my store for only $15. The item seemed to have all the features I wanted (play CD, listen to weather, radio, or tv stations) and it is compact. The first one failed after a couple of weeks--it stopped playing standard CDs. My replacement worked for a month, and then again, the CD function ceased to work; it would strain to play the CD (again, standard, purchased, CDs) but never able to play it (you could actually hear the mechanism straining.) My second replacement, radio #3, just failed this week after about a year, the LCD readout completely burned out so that you can't read the time, AND, at the same time, the AM radio reception became choppy and would fade in and out. In my opinion, having owned three of this model within about 13 months, this is junk and not worthy of the RCA brand.
Edit: I've since purchased the Sony Dream Machine
CD843V clock radio and I'm very happy with it--see all the good reviews.

1 out of 5 stars Broke after one year.......2006-12-31

I received this alarm/radio/cd player for Christmas a year ago. It probably took half that time to figure out how to make the alarms work. The radio reception has always been less than adequate, but the CD player simply stopped working after a year. My husband's Sony has been going strong for five years, so I think it's reasonable to expect more...

1 out of 5 stars Worthless -- Nearly Found Itself Defenestrated.......2006-10-26

After a relative accidentally discarded an old CD Alarm clock that I loved dearly, I found this one at a local department store and decided that since it looked aesthetically decent and had all the features, I'd go for it.

This may truly have been the worst piece of electronic equipment I have ever bought.

My standards are simple. The quality of sound doesn't need to be excellent. It's just an alarm clock, after all. But I do expect it to do what it says it will do. Functionality at its basest level is all expect for my alarmingly (no pun intended) expensive ($70)clock.

The CD player doesn't work. It skips every half-second making even the most patient of music untenable. The motorized door for the CDs is slow and the button is in the place where the Snooze usually is, making what could be a very pleasant awakening an extremely irritating one. The door cannot be opened on the battery back-up, so if you unplug the clock in a rage, two things happen: 1) the alarm still goes off based on the battery back up and 2) the CD door won't open.

I suppose that I wouldn't be as angry if it decided not to work after 6 months, or a year. But a lemon straight out of the box inspires in me the famous Homer Simpson line: "urge to kill rising."

I would return it for a new one in hopes of getting a functional unit, but after reading other reviews, I will take the optimistic next step and boycott not only this alarm clock, but RCA entirely for gross incompetence.
