Proving that great, expansive sound can come in a small, affordable package, this pair of Klipsch SB-2 bookshelf speakers can be used in either a two-channel audio system or as one of a pair of front channel speakers for a complete 5.1- or 7.1-channel surround system. Standing just 15-inches tall, the SB-2 incorporates the same driver technology as the SF-1 floorstanding speaker--a 1-inch aluminum-diaphragm compression driver with a 5-inch square Tractrix horn and a single 6.5-inch graphite-injected woofer. It can handle 85 watts of continuous power, and 340 watts at its peak. Its cast-polymer woofer frame has exceptional impact tolerance to protect the driver's internal parts and maintain their critical alignment. A rear-mounted port increases efficiency and extends bass response, allowing high output with low distortion and low turbulence. Klipsch's unique woofer venting system keeps both the magnet and voice coil cool to ensure long-term reliability.
It also features a high-definition crossover network and an internally braced enclosure. The SB-2 is video shielded, meaning that it can be placed in close proximity to your TV without disrupting the picture or causing damage from the magnetic fields inside the speaker. It also features a floating grille design, which minimizes image-impairing sonic reflections.
