Polk's 200-watt Monitor 60 loudspeaker offers high performance for music and home theater fans at an affordable price without sacrificing quality. Easily driven by a modestly-powered amplifier or receiver, the Monitor 60's highly efficient design provides open, spacious, and clear sound and is voice matched for lifelike surround sound environments. The speaker has a non-resonant all-MDF enclosure construction with .75-inch thick baffles and front-to-back and side-to-side internal bracing, ensuring cleaner, more lifelike sound. Its stylish looks complement today's LCD and Plasma TVs, with wood grain finishes and modern titanium faces.

For clear and detailed high frequency response and realistic reproduction of vocals and instruments, the 60 uses a 1-inch silk/polymer composite Dynamic Balance dome tweeter with powerful neodymium magnets. High efficiency, excellent bass is courtesy of three, 5.25-inch bi-laminate composite Dynamic Balance drivers that are lightweight and stiff with good damping for lower distortion. Dynamic Balance technology produces flat frequency response, sharp detail, transparency and an ability to play program material with wide dynamic range at life-like volume levels without a hint of strain. The sound is always clean, clear, and effortless.

The Monitor 60 features a critically tuned flared port that minimizes port noise for good low frequency extension with low distortion, resulting in natural, full-bodied sound with rich bass. The multiple small-diameter driver design also helps deliver the 60's wide dispersion, solid mid-range, and more detailed bass response for an open, box-less, three-dimensional sound.

Mylar bypass capacitors are used in the crossovers, which extends high frequency response and further improves detail and transparency. Dual, five-way binding post connectors allow for secure hook-ups, as well as bi-wiring and bi-amping flexibility for more advanced set ups. Plus, the speaker is magnetically shielded for safe placement on or near TVs and video monitors with no risk of distortion.

I got these for my home theater. I previously had the JVC 1000-Watt system TH-C5. Needed something with more clarity. Here's my setup: Front R&L - Polk Monitor 60s, Center - Polk Csi3, Rear - Polk RTi4, Sub - Hsu VTF-2MK2, Receiver Onkyo TX-604.

I did alot of research before finally ordering these speakers and heard alot of speakers at my local Fry's. First off, I really wanted floorstanding for my fronts, but wanted to spend under 700/pair. Alot of people complain about how there's no Bass with these speakers and they are right. These speakers need to be supplemented with a subwoofer (which is essential for any home theater system in my opinion). But the high/midrange of these speakers are amazing for the price. The speakers sounded better than the Monitor 50's especially at higher pitches, and they did sound crisper at duller volumes. But I did not notice a big difference between these and the monitor 70's. So, I'd recommend these M 60's over the 70's as the 70's dont justify the higher price tag.

And wow the clarity of this system is amazing. Movies, HD television (like 24, Prison break, and Lost), and my downloaded music videos all have a whole new feel to them. Its spectacular. I love POLK! I'm so glad I got rid of my JVC's. by the way, did I mention, that speakers look sexy! Everyone gives it a wow factor when they walk in and look at them, not to mention listen to them.

I recently purchased a pair of these speakers and added a 10-inch subwoofer as well as two bookshelf monitor series speakers. WOW! For speakers that Polk Audio considers entry level these are an excellent choice for someone who wants to save money and get a well rounded speaker system that covers an array of music genre. From Classical music to Rap, these speakers will do the job.
