Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Home Theatre.......2007-05-27

The only thing not fantastic about this system is that the disc changing is slow. This is otherwise a great system and worht every penny. I have had this for over a year and it is wonderful.

5 out of 5 stars NOTICE!!.......2006-09-14

I have had this system for almost a year now. Every thing on it works great. There are a few exceptions like holding the FF and RW to actually rewind and fast forward. Also, to those looking for TRUE wireless please think. Do you want your speakers to be running on batteries? It has to have a terminal to connect to the back speakers. I am having to send the system in because the fan is busted due to a power surge. A minnor hasle, over all it produces great sound and great picture quality. Great for beginners and expert users for an affordable price

2 out of 5 stars do your homework before buying.......2006-08-25

i purchased this in december of '05 after reading reviews on amazon. it had 2 good reviews at the time. no more than 3 days after buying it i saw the first negative review. i am here to add mine. this worked great for the first month we had it and then decided to start malfunctioning after the return period expired(of course). first off, the instructions aren't worth the paper they are printed on and the "center channel dialogue speaker" is not worth the plastic it is encased in. the subwoofer has a hum that won't go away no matter what cables we use or where it's located. the center channel produces a tinny sounding echo in every mode the unit is in when watching tv or movies. the wireless rear speakers are not wireless, they need to be connected to a rear receiver which almost never comes on with the main unit like it is supposed to. the fm reception is still poor after trying several locations for the antenna both in and out of the house. the remote does work with my toshiba tv, but not for all functions. the dvd player seems to be ok so far and the speakers sound ok when playing music. i made a $350 dollar mistake when buying this setup, please do not make the same mistake. look elsewhere and spend a few more bucks to get a setup from a reliable and trustworthy brand name. i wish i had.

5 out of 5 stars A great system that is well worth the cost!.......2006-07-23

I had done some research and pricing on home theater systems and discovered that there is a nearly endless range of possibilities depending on cost, features, power output, etc. I found that there were almost too many choices. I was looking for a basic, inexpensive system that I could use mostly for watching DVDs (as opposed to listening to music CDs).

After browsing through several stores, I came upon this unit in a Circuit City. All the speakers were not even hooked up, but from what I heard I was quite impressed with the sound. (It even sounded better than some systems with more power.) So I took a bit of a chance and purchased the system. I have not been disappointed in the least.

The unit's 800 watts of power are more than enough for my condo, and the sound is crisp, full, and rich. At the time I bought it, the system was selling for $250--which is fairly cheap, considering the cost of other systems on the market. You could probably find it for even less now.

Looking over some of the other reviews I noticed that some people had problems with feedback, static, etc. I personally have not encountered that difficulty. I would even add that although the specs listed on Amazon's website don't include it, the unit also played mpeg files on a CD.

If you are looking for a state-of-the-art home theater system with all the "bells and whistles," this product may not satisfy all your needs or desires. However, if you are looking for an inexpensive system with great sound, then this product is a must-buy. You simply will not be disappointed.

5 out of 5 stars Great System, Great Price - Don't be misled by the uneducated..........2006-05-25

After reading through all of the reviews, I decided to roll the dice and buy the Samsung HT-WP38. There were a few write-ups where people were complaining about wires, hissing, skipping, even customer service... well, I haven't seen any of these issues. I think a lot of issues about wireless devices can be attributed to people not understanding the technology. This device uses the 2.4 GHz band, the same band as a lot of cordless phones and wireless networking devices. Do your research, check your phones and WAPs, and replace anything that might interfere.

I have a 5.8 GHz wireless router sitting right behind this reciever and there is NO interference, hissing, static, crackling. Sound is crystal clear. And yes, the wireless just keeps you from running wires from the front of the room to the back. The rear channels ARE wired to a reciever box, but it's no big deal to put that out of sight. I think the pictures detail the setup well.

Anyway, overall a great entry level HTS.
