I paired this speaker system with a Yamaha HTR5930 SL Reciever. The sound is exceptional for a systme in this price range. I don't think you can find a less expensive speaker system! The subwoofer produces excellent bass. Highly recommend it if you're on a tight budget.

I am assuming that anyone reading this is concerned about cost rather than top of the line sound. These are very impressive considering the low cost. If you have a decent receiver and use digital connections and high quality speaker wire then these will work very good. At this price you could buy 2 sets and use it for 7.1 and save a lot of money. I shined a flashlight through the speaker covers to see what was in there and I was surprised to see a separate tweeter mounted in front of the midrange driver. You do get decent highs and you can turn them up loud without significant distortion. You can actually feel the sound from the sub as well. Overall I was totally surprised with this system.
