Polk Audio RM6750 Black Six-piece 5.1 Channel Home Theater Speaker System - Introducing a complete home-theater audio solution for people who crave true cinema excitement without breaking the bank.?the RM6750. The integrated Power Port Bass Vent designed right onto the back of the compact Satellite & Center Channel speakers-the same technology used in full-sized Polk Audio speakers-improves lower midrange response and all-important sub/sat blending, taking the RM6750 beyond the performance realm of any other sub/sat system in this price range. This integrated design reveals midrange with no ?hole? in the frequencies between the sats and the sub, for male vocals that are rich and full-not thin and weak like other sub/sat systems. The RM6750 comes with its own subwoofer module, an 8 inch long throw driver and high current power amplifier for real ground-shaking bass thrills. The Subwoofer features an 8-inch Long-Throw Dynamic Balance Poly Composite Driver with built-in Subwoofer amp (50 Watts Continuous Power) Dimensions - Fronts/Surrounds - 6-1/2 H x 4-1/16 W x 5 D, 2 lbs / Center - 4-5/16 H x 11-3/16 W x 5-13/16 D, 5.25 lbs / Subwoofer - 15-7/8 H x 11 W x 13-1/2 D, 28 lbs
Customer Reviews:
POLK AUDIO RM6750.......2007-06-27
GOOD QUALITY SPEAKER FOR THE BUDGET PRICE, SUB IS POWERFULL FOR IT SIZE. I'VE USED QUALITY SPEAKER WIRES, AND A 7.1 YAMAHA RECEIVER.
A good choice.......2007-06-27
I replace my Toshiba speakers that came with my Toshiba Home Theater in a box with this set. I am happy so far. This set gives you two choice as to how you connect the speakers depending on what kind of receiver you have. The subwoofer allows you to connect four speakers (satellite+rear) on it directly. In this case you will have to figure out how you are going to connect the center speaker (also base on your receiver and what kind of sub-out you have on your receiver (or your DVD player). :-) Don't worry, you brain storm and work it out. It is not that hard, it is just that you have to choose one option. Subwoofer is powered so it has a lot of power. I don't know what other reviewers are saying about the sub but I have to lower it down to only 20% when I watch South Park. Yes, there is a knob back of the sub that allows you to adjust the sub level depending on the type of movie/music that you're watching/listening to. You can manually turn of the sub without unplugging, keep it on auto off mode that turns it off when not in use, or keep it always on (another knob on the back that allows you to do that). There are two more knobs that I didn't really use so you might have to visit Polk website to find out what purpose they serve.
I don't know how other people connected their sub but here is how I did. I didn't have sub out option on my DVD player (which is also receiver combo) so I used audio out (left right) option on my DVD player and plug it in to the Sub audio source in using the composite cable. It works fine but it became different volume control for speakers (using my DVD player remote control) and for sub (using the volume knob on the back of the sub). So if you lower the volume on the speaker, you also have to go lower the volume behind the sub. I don't mind it actually.
If you know any other way to control the sub volume through your remote control's volume control, let me know.
I didn't understand when some of the reviewers complaining about the sub not being powerful or the sub being weak. I have to keep it on less than half before I go deaf.
Fantastic Speakers.......2007-06-24
I do consider myself to be picky when it comes to electronics. And I am absolutely floored that speakers this good can be had for a price this low. If you are reading this review, you are probably asking yourself the same question I was this time last week. That being: Are these speakers too good to be true?
During my buying process, I read about these Polks and consequently made a trip to a dumpy Circuit City with a poorly set-up sound room. Before the speakers were played, I picked up one of the sats. and was extremely impressed with its build quality... nice materials, very attractive... and the speakers have a solidness/weight to them that let you know these are not those cheap pressed-wood speakers you'll find in most HTIB systems. Secondly, I was impressed with the sound even though the rears weren't hooked-up and the sub-woofer was poorly placed.
After my trip to CC, I called J&R Music World and had a set of RM6750s shipped to me (J&R is a great store, by the way).
Yesterday I finished installing the speakers... largely using the rich amount of educational information available on the polk audio website that helped me with speaker placement and hook-up. Note: I did NOT use the sub jack on the sub woofer.
The sound is phenominal... especially considering I paid $245. There is no doubt, that if told that these speakers only were sold for their MSRP of $599... that I would still buy them. These speakers meet so many of my requirements:
(1) Great Sound
(2) Attractive
(3) Blend into the environment (i.e., they are small)
(4) Great price
(5) Quality Name
The sound image created by the front 3 is amazing and the rears are perfect.
I am not one to crank my system (I have young kids)... but the sub puts out a great bassy sound that is not too over-powering (note, when I heard these speakers at Circuit City their sub was poorly placed and hooked-up with a sub jack... and it sounded very boomy and over powering).
I am driving the system with Pioneer's top of the line VSX-1016TXV... which is another item, like these Polks, that I probably wouldn't have purchased (I was ready to go the Onkyo/Dennon route with my amp purchase) if someone walked-up to me on the street and recommended it. But after careful research... it, like these Polks, offers an astounding value for the money.
So... long story short... I thought I was going to have to spend $1,800 on my home theater system. I was convinced that a bottom line price for speakers would be roughly $1,100... and the receiver would hit me for another $700.
But, this long story has a really great ending... thanks Polk for a really great product... and for all of the knowledge information you have on your site.
PERFECT!
For $250 what more could you ask for?.......2007-06-12
I bought this item b/c of it's great reviews and i have to say this system and all the raving reviews are spot on! Also bought the Onkyo TX-SR504 7.1 Channel A/V Receiver to run the system which works great. I watched King Kong, Children of Men, and Batman Begins all in HD and i was amazed!
pros: ez set up.
great clarity
looks amazing
you can say you have a Polk Audio sound system!
cons: Often sounds like the subwoofer is overworked a bit.
If you're looking for great sound system and serious bang for your buck, look no further!
Speaker + Stands.......2007-06-07
I have a rather large great room and these speakers work/sound great. I'll let other's who know better talk about sound quality.
But for me, once I figured out I wanted these speakers, a big dilemma was what stands do I get. Will the two work together?
I ended up choosing the Atlantic 77305018 Satellite Speaker Stands (Black). The stands work great with these speakers.
There's a slot on the back of the speaker, right in the middle, where you can screw in a bolt. These stands come with a bolt and washer that fit perfectly. The stands are very stable on carpet ... providing my kids don't knock them over :)
