Klipsch RW-8 Reference Series Powered Subwoofer
Product Description
Amazon.com Product Description
Based on Klipsch's innovative Corner Port technology, the compact RW-8 powered subwoofer delivers strong, clean bass from a decidedly small-footprint enclosure. And because both the driver and the port are at the front of the cabinet, the RW-8 can be placed back against a wall, deep into a corner, or even in custom cabinetry. It can be used in a supporting role to full-range speakers, filling in and reinforcing their bottom end, or as the sole bass provider for a system built around small satellite speakers. It has an attractive black ash wood grain vinyl finish with a sculpted front panel and grille adding a stylish, upscale appearance to your home.
The 8-inch woofer features a copper-colored Klipsch Cerametallic cone, made of anodized aluminum. The anodizing process converts its inner and outer surface to ceramic. The result is a rigid cone with superb damping characteristics--the woofer will not flex or resonate. An uncommonly large motor structure and high-temperature, long-excursion voice coil--enabling it to deliver rich, dynamic bass down to 30Hz--ensure efficient, reliable operation and, in combination with the mechanical characteristics of the cones, remarkably low distortion.
It is powered by a high-efficiency amplifier, capable of 270 watts dynamic power output. The RW-8's low-pass crossover has a steep 24dB/octave slope and is outfitted with continuously variable frequency and phase controls, facilitating smooth integration with the main speakers. Input is two-channel (blended to mono in the crossover) via linelevel RCA jacks or speaker-level binding posts.
Alternatively, to take advantage of your A/V preamp's or receiver's internal crossover, you can connect directly to the subwoofer via a single direct-input RCA jack. The RW-8's level control is mounted on the side of the cabinet for easy access, and an auto power feature enables the subwoofer to turn on and off automatically.
