NHT's W-1 passive subwoofer with dual 12" drivers is a compact, elegant yet technologically sophisticated powered subwoofer of acoustic suspension design. It offers tight, articulate bass for music reproduction and movie soundtracks. Of all Evolution subwoofer configurations, the W-1 is the most flexible for free standing placement, as its dual-woofer side firing design allows the U1 to be tucked away unobtrusively, relatively close to furniture and walls.
For room shaking bass, the U1 houses two opposing 12" woofers in a single enclosure. Each driver employs an aluminum cone attached to an aluminum former (the cylinder on which the voice coil is wound). This assembly acts as a massive heat sink, which reduces distortion and heat buildup under demanding loads.
Power handling is 250 watts RMS with 500 watts peak. Frequency response is 26 Hz to 140 Hz.
