Product Description

The down-firing design of this Klipsch Subwoofer provides more "room-filling" bass. The high output subwoofer driver effectively couples, or grips, room air, dispersing the low frequency energy consistently throughout the room. This augments the haptic sensation and "feeling, " ensuring powerful bass performance. Santoprene rubber surround with fiber-composite cone delivers extended bass response and maximum reliability. Multiple hookup options accommodate any system configuration. It is easy to connect with LFE line level or speaker wire from any receiver or component separates. Phase and low pass filters are variable to optimize performance. LED light indicates power amplifier status.

Amazon.com Product Description

Complete a powerful home theater system with the deep, driving bass of the Klipsch KSW-10 powered subwoofer--perfect for combing with high-performance Klipsch Synergy Series surround sound configurations. It couples a 10-inch driver to the floor for optimal performance. This subwoofer's high-output, down-firing design "grips" the air and fills a room with low frequency energy that's heard and felt with undetectable distortion. The built-in discrete MOSFET amplifier and 10-inch fiber-composite woofer are as efficient as they are reliable. It provides 55 watts of FTC-rated continuous power, and it has a dynamic power rating of 275 watts. (Dynamic power indicates the actual power this amplifier will deliver to the woofer under normal operating conditions.)

The woofer is composed of a Santoprene rubber surround with a fiber composite cone which enables Klipsch subwoofers to deliver on their promise of extended bass response and maximum reliability. This subwoofer accepts LFE, line-level, and speaker level inputs, making it easy to add to the Quintet Microsystem, the Synergy System 6, or any other Klipsch inspired arrangement. The KSW-10's jet ash veneer vinyl finish creates a deceivingly subtle exterior for its earthshaking sound capabilities.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Subwoofer.......2007-05-23

Can't beat the sound at this price! Got the QuintetII to complete the system. Get the club sound at home!

2 out of 5 stars All Boom, little bass........2007-04-14

I listened to this subwoofer today in a high-end audio shop and I agree this thing is a bit slow on the response and overly boomy without much definition. It's very heavy on bass, but the overtones are excessive, which might lend themselves to bass-heavy rap music and movies, but for anyone interested in crisp full-frequency music reproduction, this is not the subwoofer to get. There is a noticeable delay in the response of this unit, and its dynamic range seems to be either all bass or nothing... there's very little in-between.

This is a good example of how Klipsch has lost its reputation. They used to produce their products in Hope, Arkansas. Now, like many "U.S. companies" they contract this crap out to China -- and it sounds like it.

4 out of 5 stars KSW-10, musical, balanced and great for small rooms.......2006-01-23

Of course the 55-watt RMS output (225 peak) and 10 driver of the KSW-10 is best suited for smaller rooms and mid-fi systems. I found it balanced well with my JBL Control 5 with the crossover set at about 50-60 Hz, taking over only the lowest tones. In fact, it was nearly "invisible" until you turned it off and missed the little bit of lower end support it offered. I'd describe it as balanced, natural and musical. However, if you're into boom-boom over EQed kickdrum look elsewhere. If your system has only mono sub out, be sure to use a Y-adapter as a single channel input yields extremely weak bass.

The bottomline is the KSW-10 is great for natural bass reinforcement, excelling at music. For shoot 'em up movies it's okay but you won't "feel" earthquakes, etc., in the seat of your pants like a 1000 watt Sunfire True Subwoofer. The KSW-10 is a great buy for the money, often discounted to $200 or less.

5 out of 5 stars Great for a smaller room or your first subwoofer........2005-09-22

Sound is great for the budget minded and a small area. If you have a large room, you should consider the 12 inch or checkout the higher powered subwoofers.

5 out of 5 stars Subwoofer Rocks.......2005-08-26

The best subwoofer I have heard. Personally I think it beats the highly regarded ones that Crutchfield was trying to sell me for 450-500.
