"U S ACOUSTICA" . . . WOW!.......2001-11-07

Ted Poley and Gerhard Pichler score on this one. Their album "Long Way From Home" had folks split down the middle as to whether it was one of Ted's best or worst efforts. I thought it was a solid album, but "U S Acoustica" blows the parent album "Long Way From Home" out of the water! Why do I call it the "parent album"? For those unfamiliar, "Acoustica" was literally an acoustic version of "Long Way From Home" with a slightly different line-up on the songs. "U S Acoustica" is the U.S. release of "Acoustica". But all the name changes and label they're released under aside; it takes one fine vocalist to pull off so many acoustic numbers on one album. The things some folks were criticizing about "Long Way From Home" are absent in "U S Acoustica". I find this especially interesting because the one song I even had to admit wasn't quite hitting the mark, "Hardest Part of Love", sounds outstanding on "U S Acoustica" and the version you're supposed to be hearing here is the original DEMO version. This makes one wonder HOW the demo turned out BETTER than the "final version" did. Whatever the reasons, "U S Acoustica" is a worthwhile album for fans of Ted Poley and melodic hard rock. Give it a spin!
