About the Artist
THE HISTORY OF BEFORE U BEFORE U was born in November four years ago, settled in the Alternate Pop music scene. During the last 4 years BEFORE U has been extremely active in Live Performance and studio work in South Asia. STUDIO:  Yin Yang 1999 ( Universal Music )  B4U 2001 ( Indosemar Sakti )  B4U 2004 (Lissmann Records) ALBUM YIN YANG: Produced in 1999 in Jakarta, Indonesia under producer Oddie Agam First work on the Universal Music Indonesia ALBUM B4U(Kasih)2001: Produced in Jakarta in 2001 under producer Jerry Bidara ( Billboard Music, Bulletin ). This album was distributed in Indosemar Sakti The songs " kasih" and "pujanga" got in many radio charts in Indonesia, also some No1 placements. The video got in the TOP 10 RCTI charts (NO 10) Java - Bali Tour 2002 with more than 32 Concerts, 80 Radio interviews and 5 TV appearances. (bens leo) We play about 80 concerts every year, from small clubs to big festivals ( including the already 4 gigs on the Jakarta fair.) and perform on TV (MTV Indonesia, RCTI, TPI and Indosiar ). Album B4U (release me 2005) Produced in Oktober and November 2004, and distributed in more than 05 countries in Europe, Asia. The songs are a blend mix between alternative POP and electronic ROCK. The songs are recorded at living-room studios in Vienna and produced by Mr. Tschutti and Paul himself. These days, we are planning a couple of concerts in Germany and Austria to prepare our live skills for the tour we have to absolve by releasing the album in several countries. In JSeptember 2004 we will produce the video for the "First cut". The positive response from Broadcasts, radiodirectors and journalist regarding the sample of our new album let us facing 3 songs at first cuts. the new album of the young band B4u is a blend mix from Pop Alternative and electronical influence. The former albums 1999 (Universal Music) and 2001 (Indosemar Sakti) have been more rock style. THe album contains 14 songs which traditional includes 1 demo-song (living room version, which should show our fans how a songidea is sounding before the artists are recording it with real arrangements and a good studio) In the new album the song is called leave me alone. Many different instruments are used, like 12 string guitar, a piano which got reversed (release me - hook line, intro), harmonium (55 years óld), some electronical toys and noises. The video of the first cut release me was produced by Hertha production and is already on air in Indonesia in a couple of Broadcasts as MTV Indonesia ... Uncle Jimmy's music always made us smile when we were growing up, awed by his gittar playing and love of Texas songs. Really fun memories of him and his band, even though we (ahem) didn't go to the concerts like we should have.

I'm glad that Bear Music has made it possible for today's generation to get down and boogie. The common criticism of the Melody Masters was that they didn't mix up their music better. They didn't alternate slow sexy songs with hard driving rockabilly. They played dance music. Period.

While modern concertgoers might prefer the now-standard change of pace, Jimmy Heap's band played music for people to dance to. Songs they could sing along with. Fun evenings out, sawdust on the floor. And did he ever manage to succeed at what he set out to do!

The new lyrics are contemporary...as Petersen somewhat abandons the schoolish theme and moves on to deeper, more contemplative issues. An amazing segue for The Catholic Girls.

"Make Me Believe," the title track, not only applies to the Columbine tragedy...but to the September 11th attacks. It's a song for the world. Petersen still shows her guts right in the opening line of the song, when she questions: "What kind of world is this/ when you go to school/ and they carry guns?"
RIGHT ON!

"If No One Fell," the first song on the CD, maintains the same girlish sarcasm that is woven throughout the first Catholic Girls album. Petersen teases: "He says babe romance is dead/it's like a big pick axe in the back of your head." Don't you just love analogies like that? Genius! But what's also amazing...this song closely hints at the Phil Spector/ Brian Wilson 60s pop sound, happy music that should have never gone away!! Check out the castanet parts, the layers of dreamy harmonies that cross over each other. If this one hit the air waves it would be truly addictive and mesmerizing! Can't get enough of this bouncy tune!

And then there is "Young Boys," a song the original band performed live many times, now recorded. A Catholic Girls anthem, with a chanting party track about their favorite subject: young boys!!! Cute enough to make any guy blush!
So if there is any hint of the schoolish behavior on this album, this is certainly the track!

And my favorite track "Somebody in the USA"...a rockin', drivin', slammin', make-you-get-up-and-scream, plea for fame, fortune, success, money, Grammys, Emmy's and MTV!! "I wanna be rich/I wanna make a lot of money!" If you don't rock out to this and laugh at the same time as Petersen's jab at the overall industry...you probably just don't get it! You've gotta love that Catholic Girl sarcasm!!

"Niagra Falls" also makes me dance around the living room. A little touch of country behind a bubbly backbeat! And "It's Fun to be in Love" is a beautifully blended ballad...which also restores the Byrds-ish, 60s kind of sound. GOOD!! IT'S ABOUT TIME SOMEONE HAS!

I do confess: The Catholic Girls have made me believe once again!
Their return was well worth the wait!!! If I didn't have to rate this CD a 5, I'd give it a 10! Way to go, CGs!!!
